The American Red Cross provides emergency relief and humanitarian aid by mobilizing volunteers, donors, and staff to respond to disasters and everyday needs. Its main activities include collecting and supplying blood, running disaster response operations, offering life-saving training (such as CPR and first aid), supporting military families, and promoting preparedness in communities. The organization works by coordinating volunteers, managing blood banks and donation drives, deploying resources during emergencies, and teaching people essential emergency skills. What sets it apart from many other aid groups is its nationwide network and established infrastructure that combines disaster response, blood services, and preparedness programs under one umbrella, backed by a steady flow of donations and volunteers. The goal is to prevent and relieve human suffering by being ready to help at any time, at home and around the world.

The CMA CGM Foundation renews its annual commitment to American Red Cross disaster relief. May 08, 2026 In the face of increasing severe weather events, donation and logistical support help ensure the capacity to respond immediately May 8, 2026 - On World Red Cross Red Crescent Day, the CMA CGM Foundation has renewed its commitment to the American Red Cross to help people affected by disasters big and small across the country, whenever and wherever they occur. This renewed partnership reflects the Foundation's long-term support for disaster preparedness and response across the United States. A RENEWED COMMITMENT TO SUPPORT RED CROSS DISASTER RELIEF This year alone, the Red Cross has mobilized in response to tornadoes, wildfires, flooding, a super typhoon, and more - providing relief, comfort and hope to those affected. As extreme weather increases in frequency and intensity, donations from ADGP members like the CMA CGM Foundation continue to fuel Red Cross readiness for and response to more than 60,000 disasters annually. ADGP members pledge financial and in-kind donations in advance of disasters to power the Red Cross with the infrastructure, volunteers, technology and supplies necessary to provide relief and support when needed. These donations enable the Red Cross to respond immediately - offering a safe place to sleep, a warm meal, emotional support and resources to aid in recovery - while also helping prepare people and communities for future disasters. Donations from ADGP members also support basic needs for families affected by home fires - which comprise the bulk of Red Cross response efforts - and help ensure the Red Cross can continue educating people nationwide about disaster preparedness so they can cope with crises in their communities. AN ONGOING PARTNERSHIP TO HELP IN TIMES OF CRISIS The CMA CGM Foundation is committed to humanitarian aid and uses the organization's resources in transport and logistics to act swiftly to respond to crises and disasters worldwide. Beyond its financial contribution to the Red Cross, the CMA CGM Foundation provides logistical support that helps strengthen Red Cross operational capacity. Since 2023, this support has included the organization of road transportation, the leasing of 15 trailers, warehousing solutions and the deployment of a dedicated logistics Task Force across CMA CGM Group's subsidiaries in the United States. Together, these resources help ensure emergency supplies are pre-positioned and readily available when disasters strike. In 2024, the CMA CGM Foundation provided freight and in-kind support - including meals and shelter supplies - for communities recovering from Hurricanes Helene and Milton. As part of its 2025 commitment, the Foundation delivered 15 trailers, several of which are pre-stocked with relief supplies and strategically prepositioned along the West Coast in preparation for wildfire responses. The Foundation also supported the Red Cross response to the 2025 California wildfires with deliveries of cots and cleaning supplies. "I am deeply grateful for Annual Disaster Giving Program members like the CMA CGM Foundation that play a vital role in helping the Red Cross respond quickly and effectively when disasters strike," said Cliff Holtz, president and CEO of the American Red Cross. "Support from forward-thinking organizations like CMA CGM Foundation helps ensure we are prepared to meet rising needs and deliver critical relief to families and communities when its needed most." "The American Red Cross has been a major partner of the CMA CGM Foundation for the past three years, and on this World Red Cross Day, I am pleased to announce the renewal of our commitment in 2026. In a context of increasingly frequent and intense disasters, we will continue to provide financial and logistical support, helping enabl rapid and effective response by leveraging the Group's expertise," said Tanya Saadé Zeenny, president of the CMA CGM Foundation. About the CMA CGM Foundation Founded in 2005 and chaired by Tanya Saadé Zeenny, the CMA CGM Foundation focuses on humanitarian action and access to education. It embodies and translates the family values and solidarity of the CMA CGM Group, a global leader in transport and logistics, into concrete actions. Facing crises, the Foundation leverages the expertise of the CMA CGM Group to deliver essential humanitarian supplies. It also supports access to quality education, professional training and integration, as well as educational and social innovation. To date, the Foundation has transported 120,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid to 106 countries, supported over 630 projects in France, Lebanon, and around the world, and assisted 67 entrepreneurs through its social incubator, Le Phare. Red Cross and U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation partner to help small businesses prepare for disasters. Through this partnership, small businesses that are Red Cross Ready Rating members are now eligible for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation's Readiness for Resiliency program and recovery grant opportunities May 07, 2026 WASHINGTON, D.C. - The American Red Cross is partnering with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to help small businesses strengthen their preparedness for disasters and access resources that can support recovery when emergencies strike. The partnership launches during National Small Business Month, at a time when many small businesses remain underprepared for disasters. A recent national poll by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation found that 69% of small businesses have not made a disaster plan, and only 34% say they know the kinds of disasters common to their region. Nationally, disasters are also becoming more frequent and costly. In 2025 alone, the U.S. experienced 23 separate billion-dollar weather and climate disasters. Through the partnership, small businesses are encouraged to enroll in the Red Cross Ready Rating program - a free preparedness program offered by the American Red Cross and the Canadian Red Cross. The program helps organizations evaluate their readiness for disasters and other emergencies, and take steps to improve their resilience. "With severe weather already affecting communities across the country and hurricane season approaching, now is the time for businesses to strengthen their preparedness," said Kevin Kelley, Senior Director of Community Preparedness Programs at the American Red Cross. "The Ready Rating program gives businesses practical tools to prepare for emergencies so they can protect their people, continue serving their communities, and recover more quickly after disasters." In addition to preparedness tools, the collaboration also connects Ready Rating participants with the U.S. Chamber Foundation's Readiness for Resiliency (R4R) program, which provides $5,000 disaster recovery grants to small businesses impacted by disasters. U.S.-based small businesses with 500 or fewer employees that complete the Ready Rating online self-assessment are eligible to register for the R4R program and may qualify for a recovery grant if their business is impacted by a disaster. To register, small business owners can visit the R4R registration page, complete a short form, and indicate they have completed the Ready Rating self-assessment. If a qualifying disaster is declared in their state, registered businesses may receive $5,000 from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to help cover immediate costs and reopen faster. "While most small businesses think they're prepared for a disaster, very few have actually taken the steps to be ready," said Rob Glenn, Vice President of Global Resilience at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. "This partnership helps close that gap - giving businesses the tools to plan ahead and access to financial support when they need it most." Small businesses are often among the most vulnerable when disasters strike, but preparedness planning can help reduce disruptions and allow businesses to reopen more quickly following emergencies. Businesses can learn more about the Ready Rating program and complete the free self-assessment at ReadyRating.org.To register for R4R, visit this link.
