Europe is adopting Vera, one country at a time. Italy is the latest.

Europe is adopting Vera, one country at a time. Italy is the latest. Milan, July 21, 2026. Less than a week ago, Vera Health shared the story of Spain, where one in seven doctors already uses Vera. Today it is Italy's turn. Vera Health, the clinical search engine that gives healthcare professionals evidence-based answers to any medical question in seconds, is accelerating its expansion in Italy, now one of its fastest-growing markets anywhere in the world. In recent days, Il Sole 24 Ore, Rassegna Business, and Sanità Digitale have each covered this growth: how it started, why it is moving so fast, and what Vera wants to build alongside Italian clinicians. Growth faster than the newspapers. The newspapers wrote "one in nine." That was the figure shared with the press at the time of the announcement. But growth has been so fast that the number is already out of date: according to the most recent data, roughly one in six practicing doctors in Italy now uses Vera to search, appraise, and apply medical evidence at the point of care. In Italy, as in Spain, this growth arrived without a single marketing campaign. No contracts signed in an office, no advertising. Just doctors showing an answer to a colleague: on the ward, in the clinic, in the emergency department. "Italy has become one of Vera Health's fastest-growing markets globally. Clinicians are actively looking for trustworthy AI tools: transparent, evidence-based, and designed to support clinical judgment rather than replace it," said Taieb Bennani, co-founder of Vera Health. Worldwide, the platform is now used by more than 400,000 healthcare professionals, who ask more than three million clinical questions every month. Born in the emergency department. Vera was first developed alongside emergency physicians, in the environment where every second counts and where an answer without sources is worth nothing. That is the origin of its strategic alliance with the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), one of the largest medical societies in the United States with more than 40,000 members, whose clinical policies are integrated directly into the platform. "If we can help emergency physicians find the best scientific evidence in seconds, we can help every doctor," explains Maxime Allouch, co-founder of Vera Health. The method is the same everywhere. Instead of generating answers from memory like a general-purpose AI assistant, Vera analyzes more than 60 million peer-reviewed publications, clinical guidelines, and drug references, links every statement to verifiable sources, and grades the strength of the evidence: study design, the Oxford CEBM level, the ACEP classification, journal quality, and citation impact. The quality of the answers is continuously overseen by the company's Clinical Council, which brings together physicians from Harvard, Columbia, Yale, Mayo Clinic, and the University of Virginia. Results you can verify. As this week's coverage recalls, the first prototype of Vera's voice assistant won first prize at the hackathon organized by OpenAI, in front of a jury that included Sam Altman and Garry Tan. And per Vera Health's published benchmark report, the platform outperforms the most advanced general-purpose models on clinical benchmarks such as NEJM-AI and MedXpertQA. The timing is no accident. Europe's health systems are under pressure: aging populations, staff shortages, and a medical literature growing faster than anyone can read it. In that context, being able to consult verifiable evidence in seconds is not a luxury: it is time given back to doctors and, through them, to patients. Over the coming months, Vera Health will expand its collaboration with hospitals, healthcare providers, medical societies, and scientific institutions across Italy. The credit belongs to Italian clinicians. This milestone belongs to the doctors who open Vera every day, between one patient and the next, and who at some point showed it to a colleague. That is how Vera grew in Italy: one answer at a time. And if it helps more healthcare professionals and more patients today, it is thanks to them. Coverage in the Italian press. Three outlets covered the news. The articles are available in full: Not using Vera yet? You can start for free at Verahealth.ai About Vera Health.
