Redis is an in-memory data store used as a database, cache, and message broker. It supports data structures such as strings, hashes, lists, sets, sorted sets, and streams, enabling fast data access for real-time applications. Data is kept primarily in memory for sub-millisecond latency and high throughput, with options for on-disk persistence. Features include replication, Lua scripting, eviction policies, transactions, and multiple persistence modes, along with high availability via Redis Sentinel and scalable partitioning with Redis Cluster. This combination lets Redis power use cases like caching, session management, real-time analytics, and message queuing. Compared with other data stores, Redis stands out for its in-memory performance, rich built-in data structures, scripting support, and mature HA and sharding capabilities. The goal is to provide a fast, flexible, and reliable data store that can function as a database, cache, or message broker for real-time workloads.

Redis has been named to Fast Company's 2026 list of the World's Most Innovative Companies for defining the context and memory layer powering agentic AI systems. The company was recognised amongst 720 honorees across 59 sectors and regions. Redis provides a real-time context engine that combines streaming data, vector search, operational data and agent memory in a single platform. This enables AI agents to retrieve relevant information across structured and unstructured data whilst maintaining accuracy and speed. The platform addresses common AI deployment challenges including slow large language models, hallucinated outputs and tech stacks not designed for high-throughput, low-latency AI workloads. The San Francisco-based company surpassed $300 million in annual recurring revenue in January, reflecting growing demand for memory and context infrastructure for AI systems.
Redis has acquired Featureform to enhance its ability to deliver real-time structured data into AI agents. This acquisition addresses the challenge of quickly and reliably integrating structured data into AI models. Featureform will be integrated into Redis' feature store solution, enhancing capabilities like defining reusable feature pipelines, unifying workflows, and serving low-latency features. This move aims to improve AI development use cases with speed and simplicity.
