Hypertherm Associates

Designs and manufactures cutting systems

Overview

Hypertherm Associates designs and manufactures cutting systems for industrial use, including plasma, waterjet, and laser technologies sold through OEMs, distributors, and system integrators with a global presence in 65+ countries. Its cutting systems use energy in three forms: plasma creates an electrical arc to melt and blow away metal; waterjet uses a high-pressure water jet, sometimes with abrasive, to cut materials; and laser focuses a beam to melt or vaporize along a cut path. The company distinguishes itself through a strong leadership team, continuous product and process improvements, and a global service network with high-quality assembly and testing in clean facilities. Its goal is to deliver reliable, productive cutting solutions that reduce downtime and expand its international reach.

Hypertherm launches the hypilot(r) cartridge.

Hypertherm launches the hypilot(r) cartridge. Optimizes consumable life to minimize costs for continuous pilot arc plasma cutting HANOVER, NH, UNITED STATES, June 3, 2026 / EINPresswire.com / - Hypertherm Associates, a U.S.-based leading manufacturer of industrial cutting systems and software, has announced the launch of the HyPilot (R) cartridge engineered to maximize consumable life and reduce costs in continuous pilot arc plasma cutting operations. The HyPilot cartridge is purpose-built for industries such as structural steel, pipe and tube, pressure vessel, and automotive manufacturing, which often require applications with high pilot arc time to optimize productivity and avoid downtime, making consumable longevity a critical factor in overall system performance. Designed specifically for robotic and cobot plasma cutting environments, the HyPilot cartridge addresses the unique demands of 3D applications such as cast trimming, where prolonged pilot arcing and higher stand-off heights accelerate consumable wear. When incorporating advanced, patent-pending NickelPlus (R) technology for continuous pilot arcing applications, the cartridge delivers at least twice the life of standard 105-amp mechanized cartridges, reducing operating costs without sacrificing productivity or cut quality. As manufacturers increasingly adopt robotic plasma cutting because of its flexibility and speed compared to traditional methods, the HyPilot cartridge builds on that value by lowering the total cost of ownership. "With the industry shifting away from traditional cutting methods to modern technologies, manufacturers look to improve production performance while also making operations cost-effective," says Ed Johnson, Product Manager at Hypertherm. "The HyPilot cartridge was developed with our customers' needs in mind as they move forward with plasma cutting and away from trim presses, saws, and other less flexible technologies." Hypertherm introduces new flush cutting system for heavy industrial applications.

Hypertherm introduces new flush cutting system for heavy industrial applications. May 5, 2026 Hypertherm Associates has announced the launch of its patented MAXPRO200 FlushCut consumables, a new technology designed for demanding thick-metal removal applications, in industries such as shipbuilding, mining, structural steel, and heavy equipment fabrication. MAXPRO200 FlushCut allows operators to remove attachments, including pad eyes, D-rings, lifting lugs, and alignment fixtures, up to 90 percent faster than traditional oxyfuel methods, while reducing grinding by up to 40 percent without damaging the base material. Liquid-cooled consumables enable high cutting capacity up to 64 mm (2.5 inches) thick mild steel with long consumable life. "Early field trials of MAXPRO200 FlushCut consumables have generated strong enthusiasm," said Andrew Mumford, Product Manager at Hypertherm Associates. "Customer after customer showed us real-world applications where this technology can improve safety and dramatically reduce job time, often completing jobs in minutes that once took hours." Hypertherm ́s MAXPRO200 plasma cutters support handheld torches, mechanized carriages and tractors, X-Y cutting tables, and robotic cutting systems, delivering flexibility across a wide range of applications. The intuitive FlushCut drag-cutting feature simplifies training and helps address skilled-labor challenges while maintaining consistent, high-quality results. The design also improves operator comfort, reduces noise, and lessens fume exposure compared to traditional cutting methods such as oxyfuel and carbon arc gouging. With MAXPRO200 FlushCut consumables, Hypertherm Associates expands the company's FlushCut portfolio across MAXPRO200 and Powermax plasma cutters to provide operators with performance for thin-to-thick materials in demanding fabrication environments.
