Must read: Chillhouse gets acquired, Will Welch exits 'GQ' These are the stories making headlines in fashion on Tuesday. Kiss Beauty Group acquires Chillhouse. Kiss Beauty Group has acquired Chillhouse, Cyndi Ramirez-Fulton's nail-care brand known for its New York salon and press-on products. Kiss Beauty Group will now support Chillhouse through digital and retail channels and growth capital. Chillhouse will still operate independently under its own C-suite and corporate team, keeping its same brand voice, identity and experiential SoHo flagship. "This partnership allows Chillhouse to continue operating independently while benefiting from our scale, operational infrastructure and global reach," J. Paul Yang, chief strategy officer of Kiss Beauty Group, told WWD. "Together, we see a powerful opportunity to accelerate innovation, expand omni-channel access and help shape the future of modern nail care." {WWD/paywalled} Will Welch exits GQ after seven years. Will Welch is stepping down as editor of GQ after seven years at its helm. Welch was named the editor of GQ in 2018 and its global editorial director in 2020. He is leaving the company to work in a new role with Pharrell, the men's creative director of Louis Vuitton, in Paris. Welch's successor has not been named. {The New York Times/paywalled} Vestiaire Collective co-founder leaves. Vestiaire Collective co-founder Fanny Moizant announced that she would be exiting the business after 16 years. Moizant co-founded the online luxury resale platform with Sophie Hersan and Sébastien Fabre in 2009 and served as its president. "This was not a decision I initiated, nor one I expected, but I accept that it marks the end of an extraordinary chapter," Moizant wrote on LinkedIn Monday. "I don't know exactly what comes next yet, but I move forward with energy, resilience and fire in my belly." {Business of Fashion/paywalled} Phoebe Philo releases 2024 financials. On Dec. 30, Phoebe Philo released information about its 2024 fiscal year, including a detailed strategic plan and projections for 2025. The company generated £11.2 million ($15.1 million) in revenue in 2024, up from £5.7 million ($7.7 million) in 2023, and was projected to make £32 million ($43.3 million) in 2025. The company was not profitable, losing £24.4 million ($33 million) in 2024 and £21.8 million ($29.5 million) in 2023. {Puck/paywalled} Why the AI shopping agent wars will heat up in 2026. In 2025, companies laid the groundwork for agentic commerce, and now 2026 will be the year retailers, tech giants and startups compete to determine whose AI agent becomes the default interface for shopping. Many new AI shopping agents popped up in 2025, but shopping currently only accounts for a fraction of overall AI use. The biggest hurdle facing any AI agent will be consumer adoption, and 2026 is likely to reveal the frontrunners. {Modern Retail} Brands grapple with Saks Global's uncertain future. Saks Global kicked off 2026 with a CEO switch-up: Marc Metrick stepped down after 30 years, and is succeeded by Executive Chairman Richard Baker. The fate of Saks Global will determine the future of Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman, which make up a significant segment of the U.S. wholesale landscape. If Saks does file for Chapter 11, this will likely mean even further reduced or delayed payments to brands who are already waiting on their money. This will hurt independent brands hardest, as many rely on Saks retailers to keep their businesses afloat. {Vogue Business/paywalled}
Kiss Beauty Group has acquired millennial and Gen Z nail brand Chillhouse for an undisclosed amount. The brand will operate independently within Kiss's portfolio, with founder and CEO Cyndi Ramirez-Fulton and COO Adam Fulton remaining in their roles alongside the SoHo flagship salon. The acquisition will support Chillhouse's wholesale expansion, including a launch in 1,100 CVS stores in February and expansion to 500 Walmart locations by March. The brand is currently in over 2,000 retail doors, with wholesale accounting for 80% to 85% of sales. Revenue has been growing approximately 75% year-over-year. Founded in 2017 as a salon, Chillhouse pivoted to products during the pandemic. The brand previously raised around $2 million from investors including Sophia Amoruso and Cindy Crawford.
