Aboitiz Foods acquires Singapore aquaculture R&D facility.

Aboitiz Foods acquires Singapore aquaculture R&D facility. Through Gold Coin Management Holdings Pte. Ltd., the company has acquired a Singapore-based aquaculture research and development facility from Adisseo Asia Pacific. April 21, 2026 Aboitiz Foods, through Gold Coin Management Holdings Pte. Ltd., has acquired a Singapore-based aquaculture research and development facility from Adisseo Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd., strengthening its science-led capabilities to better serve customers across Asia Pacific. Located at the Singapore Food Agency's Marine Aquaculture Center on St. John's Island, Singapore, the facility is equipped with advanced recirculating aquaculture systems. These state-of-the-art systems enable controlled trials, digestibility studies, and performance validation under rigorous monitoring, significantly enhancing Aboitiz Foods' ability to deliver evidence-based nutrition and high-performance solutions for aqua species. Tristan Aboitiz, President and CEO at Aboitiz Foods, said, "Our focus remains on strengthening the core of our agribusiness. Deepening our R&D capability ensures that the solutions we bring to market are proven in practice and responsive to the operational realities our customers face." As aquaculture producers face increasing pressure to improve efficiency, resilience, and environmental performance, the company views enhanced R&D capability as a critical enabler of sustainable growth and long-term customer value. This development also supports Aboitiz Foods' Project Eureka, its R&D initiative focused on advancing aquaculture and multi-species innovation through scientific trials and data-driven insights to support product development and growth. This enhances Aboitiz Foods' robust portfolio of aquaculture feeds for shrimp and key species like tilapia, milkfish, pangasius, and seabass. The move builds on Aboitiz Foods' disciplined approach to expanding in high-growth segments across the region, following its earlier acquisition of Diasham Resources in January this year.

Can Gas Fermentation Deliver On Its Green Promise For Food And Feed? In Conversation With Calysta

Using gases instead of purified sugars as a feedstock for fermentation can potentially cut operating costs and reduce pressure on arable land. So is gas fermentation the next big thing in biomanufacturing, or does it have limited scope?. While the technology is best-known for making fuel and chemicals (LanzaTech, Phase Biolabs, and Again), it is also being explored by several startups (Circe, Solmeyea, Air Protein, Arkeon, Solar Foods, Aerbio, Unibio) as a platform for food and feed production. LanzaTech is also moving into food and feed, having honed its tech for ethanol and specialty chemical production. Using gases to feed microbes can lower feedstock expenses, simplify sterilization, allow for longer campaigns, and potentially leverage waste or byproduct gases
