Barton Malow breaks ground on major Field Services expansion. The 52,000 SF expansion in Oak Park, Michigan, strengthens infrastructure supporting self-perform capabilities across multiple markets. Barton Malow has officially broken ground on a major expansion of its Field Services facility in Oak Park, Michigan. The forthcoming 52,000 SF development will complement its existing facilities to further serve as the operational backbone for Barton Malow's self-perform construction teams across its markets. Once the home of its corporate headquarters, Barton Malow has had a presence in Oak Park since 1961. The facility, simply referred to as "The Yard," is the centralized hub that equips Barton Malow's field teams with the tools, equipment, and technical support they need to keep projects running safely and on schedule. As the company has grown and diversified its self-perform capabilities, demand at the facility has outpaced its current footprint. The expansion directly addresses that gap. The expansion marks the first time Barton Malow has built a company-owned facility since constructing its Southfield, Michigan, headquarters 25 years ago and is the result of a multi-year strategy to position its Field Services operation for sustainable, long-term growth. "The Yard is the engine behind our self-perform work, and this expansion gives us the infrastructure to match the scale and diversity of what our field teams are delivering across the country," said Kevin Zeleji, Barton Malow Vice President of Field Services. With a summer 2027 completion date, the new building will include finished office space across two stories, with offices and conference rooms on one floor and a training center and print shop on the other. The rest will include tool and material storage, loading bays, trucking operations, and a maintenance area. "This is a foundational project in the heart of our 8 Mile commercial district. Barton Malow has been an incredible community partner, and we are thrilled to see their continued investment and expansion here in the City of Oak Park. This project reinforces our position as a place where industry, innovation, and opportunity come together to support long-term growth," said Oak Park City Manager Erik Tungate. The Oak Park site is operating under a state-mandated brownfield plan governing the responsible remediation of contaminated soils on the property. Through that process, Barton Malow has earned official partnership status with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), which safeguards the state's environment while supporting economic growth and development that are crucial to Michigan's future. As baseball prepares to honor Jackie Robinson on Wednesday, April 15, a league-wide observance recognizing Robinson's historic role in integrating Major League Baseball, the ballpark that bears his name has reached a milestone of its own. Barton Malow, in partnership with the City of Daytona Beach and the Daytona Tortugas, has completed Phase One of a comprehensive renovation of Jackie Robinson Ballpark, delivering meaningful improvements to Minor League Baseball's oldest venue. Jackie Robinson made his historic spring training debut in 1946 at the ballpark in Daytona Beach, Florida, breaking the color barrier in professional baseball and changing the sport forever. Now, 80 years later, the 105-year-old facility is being transformed into a modern home for the Daytona Tortugas, the Single-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds and a member of Minor League Baseball's Florida State League, all while preserving its character and historical significance. Throughout construction, the team has worked to deliver the project with the Daytona Tortugas' season schedule in mind, ensuring minimal disruption to the fan experience and enabling the broader renovation to continue in subsequent phases. The project began in December 2024 and reached substantial completion in January 2026.

BlueOval SK Battery Park Kentucky earned the 2025 Baldwin Group Build America Award from the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC). On Thursday, March 26, the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) presented Barton Malow with the 2025 Baldwin Group Build America Award for BlueOval SK Battery Park Kentucky - a $5.8 billion EV battery campus in Glendale, Kentucky. The project was recognized in the Industrial category. A joint venture between Ford Motor Company and SK On, BlueOval SK Battery Park represents the single-largest manufacturing investment by any automaker in U.S. history. Barton Malow partnered with Lexington-based Gray Construction to deliver two colossal battery manufacturing facilities totaling 9 million SF under roof. The team moved 4.3 million cubic yards of soil, laid 283,000 tons of stone, poured 66,000 cubic yards of concrete, and erected over 40,000 tons of steel with 4,700 craft workers on site at peak. The Build America Award recognizes the most outstanding construction projects undertaken by AGC member firms, honoring excellence in craftsmanship, safety, innovation, and overall project execution. BlueOval SK Battery Park Kentucky's recognition reflects the exceptional coordination, scale, and complexity that Barton Malow, its trade partners, and subcontractor teams navigated to deliver this project. Barton Malow has a strong history with the Build America Award, with past winning projects including Little Caesars Arena, Notre Dame's Campus Crossroads, and Daytona International Speedway. This recognition adds to the project's growing list of honors. Earlier in 2025, the campus's GE2 plant earned the TAUC Joseph R. La Rocca Project of the Year Award for outstanding collaboration, craftsmanship, and safety.
