BinSentry sensors and software provide feed mills and producers with real-time visibility into feed inventories and consumption, helping reduce waste, improve efficiency and strengthen supply chain resilience at scale. The platform uses best-in-class optical sensors and AI-powered algorithms to create detailed 3D images of the surface from any angle inside a farm feed bin or ingredient bin at a mill. Real-time data from the bins is fed into user-friendly dashboards that can be accessed from any device, anywhere, at any time. Distynct's proprietary smart alarm and monitoring system is reliable and user friendly. It was developed specifically for livestock and poultry production barns, providing remote monitoring of water, temperature, power and other environmental conditions 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The system integrates easily with existing on-farm infrastructure to give producers the tools they need to efficiently and proactively manage their entire operation, whether they have two sites or 200. "Distynct was developed as an open platform to work with other technologies and answer critical questions about conditions inside animal barns, then put that information at producers' fingertips, anywhere, anytime," said Distynct founder and CEO BJ Brugman. "This MOU will allow our customers to pair systems from two of the most reliable and trusted names in live animal production for unparalleled, real-time visibility and data-based management from barn to feed bin to feed mill." BinSentry provides customers with enhanced forecasting and operational capabilities, with technology solutions for the animal feed supply chain that increase efficiency, reduce costs, enhance profitability and improve safety. Today, BinSentry is monitoring over 65,000 assets daily across North America and South America. Distynct is a pioneering provider of smart alarm systems for livestock barns, offering barn owners simple yet powerful tools to monitor barn conditions remotely. BinSentry sues BarnTools over feed bin monitoring technology. While BinSentry alleges willful infringement of its patented feed-bin monitoring system, BarnTools asserts the lawsuit is entirely without merit and vows to defend its independent technology. August 04, 2026 01:08 PM BinSentry Inc. has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against BarnTools, LLC in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa. The lawsuit filed by BinSentry, an agricultural technology company that develops agricultural feed bin level monitoring equipment, alleges that BarnTools infringes a BinSentry patent (U.S. Patent No. 12,359,958 titled "Bin Level Monitoring System") issued on July 15, 2025, through its BinTalk products, including BinTalk and BinTalk Pro products. "The patent covers, among other things, a bin level monitoring system that includes a sensor with mounting bracket, a transmitter, a circuit board, an enclosure, and a transmitter for collecting, processing, and transmitting feed-bin level data," BinSentry said in a statement issued on Aug. 4. Among other things, the complaint alleges that BarnTools' own patent filings cited BinSentry's published patent materials related to the asserted technologies, and that despite BarnTools' knowledge of BinSentry's then-pending patent application, BarnTools nevertheless continued to develop and market products that allegedly infringe BinSentry's patent rights. "BinSentry built a successful business model on a foundation of cutting-edge science and scalable proprietary technology that delivers clear, quantifiable value to our customers," says BinSentry CEO Ben Allen. "Our technology platform is helping major protein producers and feed millers transition from outdated, inefficient manual systems to automated, real-time feed inventory management that is more efficient, more profitable, safer and more sustainable. This lawsuit is about protecting BinSentry's innovation, standing up for our customers, employees, and investors, and supporting a fair and competitive marketplace." BarnTools denies claims in BinSentry feed-bin sensor patent lawsuit. BarnTools believes these claims are without merit, says Michael Hansen, CEO of BarnTools. "Our technology was independently developed, and we have full confidence that the legal process will confirm our position," Hansen says. "BarnTools has earned its market leadership by solving real problems for livestock producers and advancing an industry that is ready for better technology. We will vigorously defend our innovations, but we will not allow unfounded litigation from a competitor to distract us from our mission, our customers, or the work ahead." BarnTools respects intellectual property rights and takes its obligations seriously, the company said in a statement to Farm Journal's PORK. "Since becoming aware of BinSentry's allegations, we have obtained a strong non-infringement opinion from a nationally recognized patent law firm confirming our position," Hansen says. "Competitors can choose to litigate. BarnTools will continue to innovate." BinSentry has demanded a jury trial. The company is seeking monetary damages for lost sales and the unauthorized use of its patented technology, as well as an injunction to prevent BarnTools from continuing to manufacture, market, import or sell the accused BinTalk systems and related software.

BinSentry launches AI feed mill control platform. Mar 13, 2026 By Farms.com Control tower platform delivers real time feed mill inventory visibility binsentry has introduced a new technology platform designed to improve how feed mills and grain elevators manage inventory. The company launched control tower, a real-time software platform that helps operators monitor feed ingredients, finished goods, and overall facility activity in one system. The new platform is part of binsentry's effort to modernize the animal feed supply chain using artificial intelligence and automated data systems. Feed mills often face challenges with inventory visibility, manual tracking, and delayed information. Control tower aims to solve these problems by giving operators a live digital overview of their entire facility. Control tower works together with binsentry's prosense HD sensors, which measure bin levels using advanced 3D technology. The system gathers data from these sensors and displays it in a single dashboard. From this dashboard, operators can see ingredient levels, total inventory, bin capacity, and ongoing activity across the facility. "Feed mills have been forced to operate reactively for far too long - climbing bins in an attempt to eyeball inventory levels, chasing spreadsheets, and responding to problems after they happen," said ben allen, CEO of binsentry. "Control tower changes that. BinSentry is the only company delivering a fully integrated solution that combines ai-powered 3D bin sensors with a live, facility-wide dashboard. This isn't just monitoring inventory - it's transforming how mills operate," said allen. The platform provides an interactive map of the feed mill that allows users to move across different bins without switching between multiple screens. Operators can hover over bins to view 3D images and internal visuals. By selecting a bin, they can access trend graphs, historical data, and additional analytics that help with planning and decision making. Another key feature of the system is the ability to filter bins by ingredient. This allows feed mill staff to focus on specific materials when monitoring supply levels or planning production. The platform can be accessed on tablets, desktop computers, or mobile devices, making it easier for operators to stay connected whether they are on site or working remotely. The system also helps feed mills identify potential ingredient shortages before they happen. By improving inventory accuracy and reducing manual reporting errors, operators can lower shrink losses and manage transportation issues such as demurrage charges. The platform also allows mills to respond quickly to unexpected truck deliveries or capacity limitations. "Feed inventory management is one of the most complex operational challenges in agriculture," said nathan hoel, CTO of binsentry. "Our team has built control tower from the ground up to solve the real-world problems mills face every day - limited visibility, siloed systems, and time-critical decisions. That's what makes this platform different." Feeding inventory management is often one of the most complex tasks in agricultural operations. By combining sensor technology, artificial intelligence, and a centralized dashboard, the new platform aims to provide feed mills with better visibility, faster decisions, and improved operational efficiency.
