Bowers & Wilkins just blew me away with its new 801 D5 speakers - here's what I made of the model after attending a demo at at High End Vienna.

Bowers & Wilkins just blew me away with its new 801 D5 speakers - here's what I made of the model after attending a demo at at High End Vienna. A listening experience like no other I attended the 2026 edition of High End Vienna and to say I saw (and heard) some incredible audio tech would be an understatement. I tried out a number of new high-end headphones, and even saw a soundbar with mechanized wooden gills... but perhaps the stand-out was hearing Bowers & Wilkins' brand new floor-standing loudspeaker, the 801 D5. This is the flagship model in B&W's new D5 series, and its release coincides with the audio specialist's 60th anniversary. It has all of the features you'd expect from a model in this range: B&W's instantly recognizable diamond dome tweeter, a luxurious futuristic design, plus exceptional sound quality. Luckily, I was able to attend a demo for the new 801 D5, and listened to Andy Kerr, Director of Product Marketing and Communications at Bowers & Wilkins, speak about what exactly makes this new model so special. Here's everything you need to know about the speakers - and a fair bit more on how I rated the listening experience. Latest Videos From ChatGPT vs. Claude 0 seconds of 1 minute, 29 seconds Volume 0% The latest gem in the Diamond Series. Before I get into the demo, allow me to provide an introduction to the Bowers & Wilkins 801 D5. This floor-standing loudspeaker, which B&W says is "60 years in the making," is pitched towards both music industry professionals and the most enthusiastic audiophiles. The 801 D5 has been upgraded with "acoustic, mechanical, and electrical improvements," such as space frame bracing for a more expansive soundstage, new tuned mass dampers to limit unwanted output from the speaker, as well as upgraded wiring harnesses and crossovers for greater resolution listening. The loudspeaker features an almost sci-fi inspired design, with new finishes available, including Dark Walnut and Warm White, and I have to say - it genuinely is a joy to behold, as are the other models in the new D5 range. Bowers and Wilkins headphones launch in two new colours - and achieve a record in the process.

Bowers and Wilkins headphones launch in two new colours - and achieve a record in the process. The Px8 S2 headphones now come in two more colours published 1 hour ago Quick summary. Bowers & Wilkins unveils two new finish options for its Px8 S2 headphones. In doing so, they've also broken their own record. If you've got cash burning a hole in your pocket and a hankering to spend it on a pair of luxurious headphones, you'll probably come across Bowers & Wilkins. The British audio brand is widely regarded as one of the best around, offering a popular selection of earbuds and over-ears. Now, the brand has brought its Px8 S2 headphones to market in a new range a finish options. The two new colours - Midnight Blue and Pearl Blue - offer two different personalities for the model, which should offer more opportunity to match with your aesthetic. Both of the new finishes maintain the brand's high standards in terms of materials and construction. You'll enjoy luxurious Nappa leather on the earcups and aluminium detailing on the outside to offer contrast. Article continues below Latest Videos From T3 The additions take the number of finishes in the Px8 S2 range to five, with these two, Onyx Black and Warm Stone, and the McLaren Edition model which launched to celebrate a decade-long partnership between the two brands. Once you add that to the range of finishes offered on the brand's other models - like the Px7 S3 and the Pi8 - the current offering includes 21 different models. That makes the current suite the most extensive range of colours ever offered by the brand. It's a testament to the Bowers & Wilkins approach, which suggests that top tier audio must always both look and sound excellent. The range is comprehensive enough to ensure there's something for every taste, which is really important when you're dropping this kind of cash. Speaking of which, the two new colours will be available for £629 / €729 / US$799 (approx. AU$1,190), which is in line with the price of previously available finish options. All in all, it feels like another gentle reminded of why this brand is so well loved. If you're interested in investing in your audio, this seems as good a place as any to start. Bowers & Wilkins refreshes Pi8 earbuds and Px7 S3 headphones with new colour options.

Bowers & Wilkins refreshes Pi8 earbuds and Px7 S3 headphones with new colour options. April Ossington | 19 Mar 2026 Bowers & Wilkins has expanded its premium headphone and earbud line-up with a series of new finishes, adding more variety to two of its flagship audio products. The Pi8 true wireless earbuds are now available in Dark Burgundy and Pale Mauve, increasing the total number of colour options in the range to six. These join existing finishes such as Anthracite Black, Midnight Blue, Dove White and Jade Green, giving buyers more choice without changing the underlying hardware. At the same time, the company has introduced a new Vintage Maroon finish for its Px7 S3 wireless noise-cancelling headphones. The addition brings the total number of finishes for that model to five, alongside Canvas White, Anthracite Black, Indigo Blue and Frost Blue. While the update focuses on design rather than performance, both the Pi8 earbuds and Px7 S3 headphones continue to use the same audio technology that has positioned them at the higher end of the market. Bowers & Wilkins has consistently emphasised build quality and materials alongside sound performance, and the expanded colour range reflects an effort to appeal to a broader range of personal styles. The new finishes are now available in Australia. The Px7 S3 in Vintage Maroon is priced at $699, while the Pi8 earbuds in Pale Mauve and Dark Burgundy are available for $649.

Bowers & Wilkins' 707 Prestige Edition: Santos Gloss Finish + 705 S3 Signature tweaks

Bowers & Wilkins' 707 Prestige Edition: Santos Gloss finish + 705 S3 Signature tweaks. Bowers & Wilkins has unveiled the 707 Prestige Edition, a dressed-up version of its entry-level 700 Series standmount loudspeaker that borrows a few tricks from its pricier siblings. The headline here is the Santos Gloss finish: 12 layers of paint and lacquer inspired by the 805 D3 Prestige Edition's rosewood aesthetic. A rear plate confirms this isn't your standard 707 S3. But it's not just about the lacquer. Or the back plate. B&W has pinched the optimised tweeter grille mesh and upgraded speaker terminals from the 705 S3 Signature, claiming improvements to resolution and soundstage scale. The core driver complement remains unchanged: the same 25mm Carbon Dome tweeter and 130mm Continuum mid-bass unit found in the regular 707 S3, housed in that familiar curved-baffle cabinet. For context, the standard 707 S3 sells for around €1200, so you're paying roughly €550 for the finish upgrade and Signature-derived parts. Whether those tweeter mesh and terminal changes deliver audible gains commensurate with that premium is another question entirely - one that'll require ears-on time to answer. The optional FS-700 S3 floorstands are available in black or silver for those who prefer not to place their shiny new loudspeakers on a bookshelf (despite the alternative category name). The 707 Prestige Edition is now available through select retailers for €1750 or £1550.

Bowers & Wilkins wins TechRadar's Headphones of the Year Award for the second year running - and I'd wager it knew the trophies were coming

Bowers & Wilkins wins TechRadar's Headphones of the Year Award for the second year running - and i'd wager it knew the trophies were coming. I'm not sure Bowers & Wilkins cares for accolades, reader - and yet this is what its engineers are going to get from me, and from this publication, until the brand ceases to set new benchmarks for audio quality within the category of wireless headphones. You probably know just as well as B&W does that its Headphones of the Year Award at the TechRadar Choice Awards 2025 was open to on-ear, in-ear and over-ear designs (rather than just cans, as the word 'headphones' may suggest). And here Intserv is again, another full year of testing under its belts, with me needing to impress upon you that choosing the Bowers & Wilkins Px8 S2 as its Headphones of the Year was one of the simplest conclusions I've come to in 2025. I put them on. I listened; I commissioned a full review - but honestly, I did that just to get a second opinion that confirmed my own internal verdict. I already knew their score. And I write this despite the fact that Bowers & Wilkins doesn't make it easy for me in terms of workload or stress levels. Last year, the TechRadar Choice Awards 2024 audio winner nonchalantly revealed itself late in the game, at the end of August - in the shape of the Bowers & Wilkins Pi8. And if that was cutting it fine (products for consideration must have been released since September 1, 2024, but be available to buy before September 31, 2025, to be eligible) consider that the Px8 S2 hit shelves on September 24. That's right, B&W gave Intserv precisely seven days of grace to hand over the crown. It would be easy to draw from this the conclusion that B&W does things only when the product is right and not when it's time to put the feelers out for Awards season. I fully believe this to be true - I've met the Bowers & Wilkins team and this is a company that wants to know within its own family-run factory walls that its new headphones are the best, before garnering the opinions of others. Oh, and if you've spotted that the May 2025-launch Sony WH-1000XM6 won its 'Best wireless headphones' award and are now thinking "Hang on: how come the Px8 S2 are the overall winner, not the Sonys I love?" allow me to explain.
