This is a guest post by Dr. Michael Akinwumi, the chief responsible AI officer for the National Fair Housing Alliance, and Dr. Dominique Harrison, an independent tech equity expert. In an era defined by rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, two significant battles emerge: the skepticism toward AI developers’ ability to create safe, secure and trustworthy systems, and the tension between ethical development and the pursuit of profit from private investment in innovation. In addition to the free Millennium Park concert on August 25, this summer WBEZ is also partnering with Harmonica Dunn and Suburban Unity Alliance to present Food Aid Festival 2023, a two-day musical celebration addressing food insecurity in Chicago’s West Side communities and neighboring suburbs.

Loren Ames will join WBEZ as an Events Intern on the Community Engagement and Live Events team.
