CityFibre builds and operates a wholesale full-fibre optic network across the UK to provide high-speed internet infrastructure for homes and businesses. The company installs physical fibre cables directly to premises and partners with various Internet Service Providers (ISPs) who use this infrastructure to deliver broadband services to their customers. Unlike traditional providers that sell directly to consumers, CityFibre acts as an open-access platform, allowing multiple ISPs to compete on its network rather than owning the customer relationship itself. Its goal is to connect 8 million homes across 285 locations by 2025 to support a more reliable digital economy.

CityFibre has secured £900 million in equity funding from shareholders including Goldman Sachs and Abu Dhabi's Mubadala to pursue acquisitions of smaller broadband rivals. The investment follows a £1.5 billion refinancing last year. The company is targeting providers with networks reaching over one million homes, such as Hyperoptic and Community Fibre. CityFibre's full-fibre network reaches approximately 4.7 million premises, making it the largest alternative network competing with BT's Openreach. However, the company faces challenges from its nearly £4 billion debt pile and rising interest costs. Fierce competition and slower customer uptake have pressured finances, leading to 200 redundancies this month after cutting 450 roles earlier this year. CityFibre is exploring debt recapitalisation options whilst assuring that the National Wealth Fund's £300 million taxpayer investment remains unaffected.

CityFibre pick Netceed to handle inventory management for UK fibre network. Wednesday, Jul 29th, 2026 (10:53 am) - Score 120 Alternative full fibre broadband operator CityFibre, which has already deployed their 8.5Gbps speed capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network to cover 4.7 million UK premises (4.5m Ready for Service), has chosen global infrastructure supply chain solutions provider Netceed to handle their strategic inventory management going forward. Netceed typically delivers end-to-end supply chain services and integrated solutions across broadband networks, which extends from planning and sourcing through to pre-terminated Points of Presence (PoPs), integrated active cabinets and automated street cabinets etc. NOTE: CityFibre is owned by Antin Infrastructure Partners, Goldman Sachs, Mubadala Investment Company, Interogo Holding etc. The FTTP network they're building, which aspires to cover 8 million premises in the future, is supported by UK ISPs such as Vodafone, TalkTalk, Zen Internet, Sky Broadband and many more. The company's service will thus be used to help underpin CityFibre's future network deployments, ongoing maintenance, and customer connections to ensure an efficient flow of materials across all regions and stakeholders. Discover more Internet service guide UK broadband deals Satellite internet provider Rich Katon, Head of Procurement at CityFibre, said: "Working with Netceed will help us to deliver a more streamlined and digitally enabled materials management model that will drive visibility, resilience and operational efficiency at scale. This partnership supports CityFibre's continued growth and creates value across the business - improving delivery performance for our customers, strengthening supply chain resilience, and driving disciplined cost and asset efficiency." The news does however follow only a couple of weeks after CityFibre revealed that organisational changes could result in a further 200 roles being lost in the near future (here). VeloxServ unveils next phase of Unity portal development for UK ISP partners. Thursday, Jul 16th, 2026 (10:39 am) - Score 0 Independent wholesale broadband and leased-lines aggregator, VeloxServ, which is used by a fair few retail UK ISPs and alternative networks (altnets), has expanded their 'Unity Partner Portal' to add a bunch of new features that "simplify service management, improve operational efficiency and provide partners with greater visibility and control". The portal now enables partners to search availability across all integrated supplier networks from a single interface (i.e. making it easier to identify the most appropriate connectivity solution for customers). Partners can also benefit from fully integrated end-to-end ordering and they've added real-time order monitoring capabilities provide greater visibility of delivery progress, as well as the ability to request updates directly through the platform. VeloxServ said operational support has also been strengthened through integrated diagnostics for CityFibre, Vodafone and ITS Technology, enabling partners to investigate and resolve issues more quickly without leaving the portal. On top of that there's also enhanced user profile management, improved invoice visibility and an API that has entered testing (i.e. partners will soon be able to integrate Unity directly with their own business systems and automate workflows). Discover more Geographic Reference Mobile & Wireless Steven Wood, Head of Sales at VeloxServ, said: "Its objective has always been to remove complexity for its partners. As its supplier portfolio continues to grow, it's increasingly important that partners have a single platform that brings everything together in one place. The latest enhancements to Unity are all about improving efficiency, reducing administration and giving partners the tools they need to deliver an even better experience for their customers. Rather than switching between multiple supplier systems, Unity provides a streamlined, centralised platform that helps partners work smarter. This is just one phase of its ongoing development programme, and Ispreview is excited to bring even more powerful capabilities to the platform over the coming weeks." Further enhancements are already scheduled to be released over the coming weeks, such as Estate Management (i.e. a comprehensive view of customer services from a single dashboard) and the migration of historically manually placed orders into the portal. VeloxServ are also preparing to introduce Radius Management functionality, enabling partners to view live usage information, monitor online and offline status, and suspend user sessions directly through Unity.
