The meeting also approved the renewal of terms for Gilles Schnepp as chairman of the board, Valérie Chapoulaud-Floquet as lead independent director, and Sanjiv Mehta. Danone CEO Antoine de Saint-Affrique told CNBC that inflationary pressure from the Iran war may lead to higher food prices, though the company is "not there yet" on raising prices. The outcome depends heavily on how the next two to four weeks evolve, he said. The effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz has caused surging energy, fertiliser and shipping costs. Britain's Food and Drink Federation has forecast food inflation of at least 9% by year-end, up from an estimated 3.2% previously. Despite macroeconomic headwinds, de Saint-Affrique expressed confidence in Danone's resilience. The company reported 2.1% price increases and 2.5% volume-led growth in the fourth quarter, and recently acquired protein shake maker Huel.
Danone has successfully issued a triple-tranche bond totalling €1.6 billion equivalent. The offering comprises a €700 million 4-year tranche with a 3.3790% coupon, a €500 million 8-year tranche with a 3.7850% coupon, and a £350 million 6.5-year tranche carrying a 5.3250% coupon. The issue enables Danone to enhance funding flexibility whilst extending debt maturity as part of active liquidity management. Settlement is expected on 1 April 2026, with bonds to be listed on Euronext Paris. The bond was widely subscribed by a diversified investor base, confirming confidence in Danone's business model and credit profile. Danone holds BBB+ ratings from Standard & Poor's and Baa1 from Moody's, both with stable outlooks.
