Deductive AI

Deductive AI

AI-driven SRE agents for incident diagnosis

Overview

Deductive AI provides a platform that uses intelligent agents to automate the investigation and repair of software failures. The system connects to an organization's code, logs, and metrics to build a live knowledge graph, using reinforcement learning to test hypotheses and identify root causes just as an experienced engineer would. Unlike traditional monitoring tools that only alert users to problems, this platform actively reasons through complex system relationships to reduce incident resolution time by up to 90%. The company's goal is to move engineering teams from reactive firefighting to proactive problem resolution, allowing them to focus on building new features rather than debugging.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • AI-generated code increases demand for automated debugging and incident resolution.
  • Reported deployments at DoorDash, Foursquare, and Kumo validate enterprise traction.
  • Elastic’s acquisition supports broader observability distribution and product integration.

What critics are saying

  • Elastic acquisition removes Deductive AI’s standalone growth path.
  • Competitive AI SRE vendors will absorb customer attention and budgets.
  • Large observability platforms can replicate code-aware incident workflows quickly.

What makes Deductive AI unique

  • Founders came from Databricks and ThoughtSpot, bringing distributed systems expertise.
  • Builds AI SRE agents that connect code, logs, metrics, traces, and events.
  • Uses a continuously updated knowledge graph and hypothesis testing for root-cause analysis.

Elastic to acquire CRV-backed DeductiveAI for up to $85M

DeductiveAI, a startup using AI to detect and resolve software bugs, has agreed to be acquired by Elastic for up to $85 million, according to a source familiar with the deal. Founded in 2023, Deductive emerged from stealth last November with a $7.5 million seed round led by CRV, valuing the company at $33 million. The startup operates in AI site reliability engineering, a fast-growing sector driven by the increase in AI-written code. The acquisition will enhance Elastic's observability platform by adding tools to automatically monitor performance and resolve system failures in real-time. Deductive was co-founded by former ThoughtSpot VP Rakesh Kothari and ex-Databricks engineer Sameer Agarwal. The startup had reached roughly $1 million in annual recurring revenue before the sale.
