Double Eleven achieves legendary status at MCV Develop Awards. Double Eleven, one of the world's leading game developers and publishers, has been awarded the prestigious MCV/Develop Legends Award 2026, recognising two decades of exceptional contribution to the games industry. Presented at the MCV Develop Awards ceremony in London earlier this month, the Legends Award is awarded to studios whose innovation, excellence and influence has shaped the industry in a lasting way. Double Eleven's Co-CEO's Mark South and Kimberley Turner accepted the award on behalf of the company, who employ more than 400 people across the UK and Malaysia. Speaking about the win Jamie Sefton, MD of Game Republic said "Double Eleven is a fantastic example of a company that leads global success without losing its regional roots. We are delighted for this win and confirmation of their legendary status and their work is why we are so pleased to have them as our Official Partners too." Founded in 2009, Double Eleven has grown organically into a globally recognised and respected development and publishing studio, all while remaining one of the UK's few remaining independent games companies, despite multiple buy out offers. With a foundation of trust, technical expertise and creative ambition, Double Eleven has established itself as a co development powerhouse across the world. Success at Double Eleven isn't measured by targets and growth, and the company has long been committed to creating rewarding careers in the region, focussing on allowing talented developers to build meaningful careers without the need to relocate to major cities. They establish an environment where people can thrive both professionally and personally, not being expected to sacrifice a life outside of the studio. Winning the Legends awards reaffirms that this commitment remains true, unpinned by a simple belief that if you look after your people, anything is possible. Boasting an annual turnover in excess of £50m, in an increasingly crowded market, co-development remains the company's core DNA. Double Eleven established itself as a trusted partner and has worked with some of the most recognised publishers and developers in the industry, including Obsidian Entertainment, Mojang, Bethesda Game Studios, and Rockstar Games. Teams have played their part in globally successful IPs, including Minecraft Dungeons, and upcoming sequel Minecraft Dungeons II, Fallout 76, Red Dead Redemption and Facepunch studio's smash it, Rust Console Edition. The award also acknowledges Double Eleven's commitment to supporting players and the gaming community. Earlier this year, the company made the tough decision to cease active development on its own original IP, Blindfire. While the first person shooter didn't quite reach the commercial success the team had hoped for, Double Eleven committed to keeping the servers online indefinitely, and made the game free to play, as a gift to the community and a testament to the work their insanely talented team had created. Thin player counts meant that early adopters didn't get to experience the game at its full potential, and in a practically unheard of move in the games industry, is working towards refunding those players. Setting a new standard of what player resolution looks like. As the company celebrates its latest award, the focus remains firmly on the future. Double Eleven continues to invest in talent, establishing its own fully accredited in-house Academy. Supporting the wider development community. And in their role in shaping the future of the industry as they continue to build a lasting legacy on game development in both the UK and across the world. Surprise! Minecraft Dungeons 2 is coming later this year. Surprise! Minecraft Dungeons 2 is coming to PC via Xbox and Steam, PS5, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, and Xbox Series and Game Pass later this year. The announcement - prematurely leaked by a Gematsu social media post earlier today - accidentally confirmed publisher Xbox Game Studios and developers Mojang Studios and Double Eleven were working on Minecraft Dungeons 2 ahead of the formal announcement at Minecraft Live. "It's not often that we get to announce an entirely new game, but here we go: Minecraft Dungeons II is coming this year!" a formal press release declared. "This is an all-new action-RPG adventure where you'll take on high-stakes encounters, thrilling challenges, and explore never-before-seen locations in the Minecraft universe. Of course, there will also be loot! Loads of it. Grab it all, or share with up to three friends as you co-operate to save a world in crisis." And though "it might seem obvious", Mojang stressed that yes, "Minecraft Dungeons 2 is the sequel to Minecraft Dungeons", adding: "There's never been a better time to catch up if you're late to the party. We'll share more news soon!" It shouldn't be that much of a surprise. 2020's dungeon crawler was a huge hit, clocking up over 10 million players by February 2021, and 25 million players by April 2024, making it the most successful Minecraft spin-off yet. The original game, of course, is the second-biggest selling game of all-time, out-selling Grand Theft Auto 5 and Wii Sports with 350 million sales. Only Tetris has sold more. Citywingnews thought the first Minecraft Dungeons was "promising" when it released back in 2020, suggesting it "rounds out a strong extension to the franchise, and by far the most promising Minecraft spin-off released to date".
GaMaYo 26 showcase: Gata Guressi. At Project House, Leeds over 40 games will be demoing, along with 300+ developers, game industry publishers, investors and platforms in attendance for GaMaYo 26! Join GaMaYo on the 21st of May for a day full of demos and round tables, networking and more. This event is brought to you by Game Republic along with their Official Partners Red Kite Games, Xsolla and Double Eleven, with event sponsors Plus Accounting, Kudos Games and Steel City Interactive. Today GaMaYo is looking at 'Gata Guressi' which is confirmed to be at the event, from Elliot George Mann! Gata Guressi, from Elliot George Mann. What would be your description of your game? Learn to communicate with the people of Hierre by speaking their languages and understanding their cultures in this sci-fi translation game. Use your translation skills to navigate Kallay Tirridor, uncovering its dark secrets while solving the sudden disappearance of your brother. How did development start? (Were there any key inspirations or ideas that drove you?). Gata Guressi started out as a university project for a 3D modelling module, where I made a sci-fi bar with loads of characters speaking different languages for you to translate. The idea really stuck with me and I continued working on it afterward, reinventing the project to be much more linguistics-focused (inspired by other language translation games like Chants of Sennaar and Heaven's Vault). It's now a story-driven adventure where you're on the hunt for your brother, who disappears on a trip to a high-class tourist destination on another planet. You go after him, but realize nobody on this planet speaks your native language. To find your brother, you need to learn the languages of the people here, and with the varied demographics at the bar, that means learning 11 different languages used by the different peoples of the Hierre star system. Tell GaMaYo about the team behind the game? I'm Elliot George Mann, a game & XR developer based in Leeds. I graduated from University of York BSc Interactive Media in 2024 and now work on a variety of VR and AR projects at Reflex Arc (some projects here: https://reflexarc.co.uk/). I love all sorts of games, but language translation games have been especially interesting to me in recent years. The genre's criminally sparse, so I'm really excited to contribute to it with Gata Guressi and hopefully inspire more developers to create their own language games in the future! What kind of experiences do you hope to bring players? I want players to feel like multilingual detectives, figuring out the dictionaries and ways of thinking of different peoples in the search for their brother. This game has lots of opportunities to learn more about the world around you, and it'll come in handy to contextualize what people are saying and properly translate what they're saying. The worldbuilding of Hierre (the solar system the game takes place in) is very dense - as you play the game you'll pick up on the smaller details of the places, events, and cultures of the world, all to the end of immersing the player and making these languages and cultures feel alive and real. In 10 words or less, highlight the appeal of the game. Learn to translate alien languages to solve a sudden disappearance.
