Endologix acquires Pounce System from Surmodics. Adds FDA-cleared device to vascular intervention portfolio Yuika Yoshida May 19, 2026 Irvine medical device maker Endologix today announced its acquisition of the Pounce Thrombectomy System from Minnesota-based Surmodics Inc. The Pounce System is an FDA-cleared device for the non-surgical removal of thrombi and emboli from peripheral arteries. "The Pounce Thrombectomy System is a strong strategic and clinical fit for Endologix," John Liddicoat, chief executive and president of Endologix, said in a statement. Deitsch brings over 25 years of global leadership experience in medtech and healthcare. Deitsch currently serves as chief executive officer of Caristo Diagnostics, an AI-focused cardiovascular disease company spun out from the University of Oxford. He previously served as chief financial officer of OrganOx, where he led the company's 2025 sale to Terumo Corporation for $1.5 billion, marking the largest spinout exit in Oxford's history. Endologix develops interventional therapies for vascular disease and is wholly owned by investment firm Deerfield Management. Endologix plans to close its production facility in Milpitas, California, resulting in 31 redundancies scheduled for May and June. The vascular disease company acquired the site in 2021 through its takeover of PQ Bypass, gaining control of the Detour peripheral arterial disease device. The closure affects various manufacturing and quality roles, with most layoffs occurring on 6 May. The move follows Endologix's 2020 Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing and subsequent emergence as a private company owned by Deerfield Partners.
