Overview
FCCN serves as the Digital Services Unit of Portugal’s Foundation for Science and Technology, providing high-speed Internet connectivity and IT services to the country’s higher education and research system. Its network reaches more than 600,000 students, researchers, and staff daily through a national education network, with cost-efficient, common, replicable, and shareable digital services designed to meet user needs. It connects Portugal to Europe and the world via the GÉANT network, linking to other National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) for international access to infrastructures, data, and services. The company’s goal is to support the development of science, technology, and knowledge in Portugal by enabling excellent national education and research, fostering collaboration, and advancing digital capabilities across academia.
