Follett Software embeds AI across K-12 platform at no extra cost for US districts

Follett Software announced it will include AI capabilities at no additional cost for eligible US-based, cloud-hosted customers across its K-12 platform. Effective 1 August, districts using supported products can access AI features directly within existing Library, Technology, and Facilities software suites. The embedded AI assists with tasks including automated support ticket creation, collection intelligence for librarians, and maintenance request routing. District administrators retain control over AI enablement and access permissions. "School leaders shouldn't have to choose between innovation and responsible governance," said Chris Porter, chief executive officer of Follett Software. The company serves more than 10,000 school districts. Supported products include Follett Destiny Library Manager, IT Asset Manager, IT Help Desk, and Work Orders. The approach aims to reduce reliance on unmanaged consumer AI tools whilst maintaining data privacy and security standards.

Follett launches self-service library kiosk solution.

Follett launches self-service library kiosk solution. July 10, 2026 Education materials provider Follett Software has launched Accessit Kiosk, a self-service circulation solution for K-12 schools that expands the capabilities of its Accessit Library platform, according to a press release. The software enables schools to deploy self-service borrowing and returns on existing devices, including laptops, tablets, Chromebooks, desktop computers and touchscreen monitors, eliminating the need for dedicated kiosk hardware or complex installations. The company said the tool allows schools to extend resource access beyond traditional library spaces while maintaining centralized oversight. Built as a progressive web app, Accessit Kiosk integrates with existing school technology infrastructure and supports self-service access in classrooms, libraries and shared learning spaces. Students and staff can independently check out and return books, devices and other shared resources, while the platform automatically captures usage data to support asset management, literacy programs and budget planning. The software also features a secure interface designed for unsupervised use, compatibility with existing school hardware and support for 15 languages. Follett said the kiosk is designed to help schools create a distributed resource management system rather than relying solely on centralized libraries. School administrators gain real-time visibility into resources across campus, while educators and librarians can manage collections more efficiently. Accessit Kiosk is available as an add-on to the Accessit Library platform in all global markets where the software is offered.

Follett Software launches K-12 event registration platform to eliminate double bookings and improve cost recovery

Follett Software has launched Event Registration, a platform helping US school districts manage community programme signups, payments and schedules in one system. The solution integrates with Follett's Facilities Schedules, making it the only vendor connecting public registration, space reservations and facility operations for schools. The platform addresses challenges from disconnected systems that cause double bookings and limited visibility into costs. Event Registration automatically submits requests to Facilities Schedules, updating the district's master calendar in real time. Key features include online registration and payments, automatic integration to prevent double bookings, customisable forms, detailed reporting on revenue and attendance, and support for multiple payment processors. The solution is available standalone or bundled with Follett's Facilities Suite.

Follett Software launches AI assistant for K-12 IT teams ahead of 2026-27 school year

Follett Software is bringing AI capabilities to IT Asset Manager, its K-12 technology operations platform, ahead of the 2026-27 school year. The Technology AI Assistant will launch with two features: an intelligent conversational interface and an email-to-ticket agent, with additional capabilities planned. The AI Assistant enables IT staff to query district data conversationally and receive actionable insights. The email-to-ticket agent automatically triages support requests, categorises issues, pulls device information and routes tickets appropriately. Follett Software, which serves 10,900 districts and 49 million students globally, already has over 810 districts using AI in its Library Suite. The company is building AI around a three-level framework spanning insights, automation and anticipation. All features comply with FERPA and COPPA regulations whilst respecting district policies.
