How much is a flower subscription? April 24, 2026 Over the last eight years or so the flower subscription market has really taken off. I first came up with the idea of setting up a flower subscription business in 2014 when (as a stressed out mother with three young children) I became an early fan of weekly meal boxes from Hello Fresh. It seemed to me that the concept might be perfect for flowers as well, although I was thinking my flower business would be more like 'meals on wheels' with flowers arriving already arranged so no floristry skills required by the recipient. Like all good ideas, I wasn't the only one who was starting to think about flower subscriptions around this time! I found out that Freddie from Freddie's Flowers was also looking into it, having worked previously at Abel and Cole and having a similar lightbulb moment, and soon after that, Bloom and Wild started offering their letterbox flowers as a subscription option as well. Now, of course, if you search for flower subscriptions online, you will be spoilt for choice with so many options out there! Cut flowers are considered to be an 'affordable luxury'. I often wish MeadowSweet Posies Ltd didn't have to pay for flowers at all seeing as they are one of nature's wonderful gifts to MeadowSweet Posies Ltd! Still, there are lots of costs associated with growing flowers, such as purchasing land and premises, buying bulbs and seeds, growing and nurturing the flowers, picking, conditioning and transporting them, arranging, sending them and so on. And, in recent years, like everything else, the costs associated with cut flowers have soared due to fuel increases, supply chain issues, Brexit, the pandemic, climate change, major wars and ongoing geo-political instability. A lot of the large online companies offering flower subscriptions offer a range of products and prices. I will summarise a couple of the big players with what they are known for and how much they cost. I have added MeadowSweet Posies to the list for comparison. Bloom and Wild: A multi-million pound business, their letterbox flowers are sent in a thin box designed to fit through a letterbox and they arrive with information and instructions so that the customer can condition the stems and arrange the flowers. They include British flowers at certain times but tend to sell mainly imported. Boxes from £34 with UK delivery (as at 2026). Freddie's Flowers: This business has now expanded from the UK into Germany and Holland. They use British growers at times but also rely heavily on imported blooms. Their flowers arrive out of water, with information about them and instructions for how the customer can arrange the flowers. Boxes from £32 with UK delivery (as at 2026). MeadowSweet Posies: MeadowSweet Posies is unique in that it uses 100% British flowers and foliage throughout the year. MeadowSweet Posies Ltd rely on its network of British flower growers, typically multi-generation family-run farms that pride themselves on their environmental practices, growing flowers out in the field, under polytunnels and under glass. Flower stems are sent in gel so they arrive hydrated (never floppy!). Posies are arranged by its in-house florist, with information about what's included and where the flowers are grown, and, after a quick snip, are ready to display in the complimentary recycled-glass jar with ribbon provided. Subscription box costs £32 including UK delivery (as at 2026) and the jar can be popped in the dishwasher so it's nice and clean for next time! (Original blog was written in 2022 and has been updated 2026). If you'd like to try MeadowSweet Posies Ltd out, why not start a British grown flower subscription with MeadowSweet Posies Ltd today. Fifty One Degrees partners with Freddie's Flowers on AI. * Nicholas Harding * 23 March 2026 Fifty One Degrees has been appointed by Freddie's Flowers on a retained basis to embed senior AI consultants directly inside the business, identifying and delivering the highest-impact opportunities for AI and automation. Freddie's Flowers is one of the UK's best-loved direct-to-consumer brands, delivering fresh, seasonal flowers to hundreds of thousands of customers nationwide. As the company enters its next growth phase, it has engaged Fifty One Degrees to help accelerate AI adoption across the business - with a focus on improving customer outcomes, operating efficiency, and commercial performance. What Fifty One Degrees AI Limited is doing. The engagement follows its embed-over-advise model. Rather than delivering a strategy deck and walking away, Fifty One Degrees AI Limited is placing senior consultants inside the Freddie's Flowers team to work shoulder-to-shoulder with their people. Over an initial three-month programme, Fifty One Degrees AI Limited is working across the business to identify where AI and automation can deliver the greatest return - whether that's improving the customer experience, streamlining internal workflows, or building predictive models for areas like pricing, churn, and demand forecasting. The work includes establishing an AI strategy and governance framework, creating an internal network of AI champions to drive adoption from the ground up, and delivering the first live AI implementations. Why this matters. This engagement is a strong example of how mid-market businesses are approaching AI - not as a standalone initiative, but as something woven into how the business operates and grows. Freddie's Flowers isn't experimenting with AI in a lab. They're putting it to work across the business, starting with the areas that move the needle most. What its leaders say. "Freddie's Flowers has built something genuinely special - a unique brand and product that people love. Our job is to find the places where AI delivers real, measurable impact: better customer experiences, smarter operations, and faster growth. We're not here to write reports. We're embedding inside the team and delivering results." - Nick Harding, CEO of Fifty One Degrees "We knew we needed more than a consultancy that would hand us a deck and wish us luck. Fifty One Degrees are in the room with us, working alongside our team, and that's exactly what we needed. They're helping us find the biggest opportunities for AI across the business and actually getting them delivered." - Nick Anderdon, CCO at Freddie's Flowers Want to explore how AI can drive measurable impact in your business?
