Fugro

Fugro

Geodata provider for offshore site characterization

Overview

Fugro collects and analyzes geo-data to reveal what lies beneath the seabed and on land, helping to de-risk large energy and infrastructure projects. It uses a fleet of specialized vessels, subsea robots, and remote sensing tools to map the ground and subsurface, perform geotechnical and geophysical surveys, and deliver data and interpretations that project teams rely on for safe design and construction. The company differentiates itself through a long track record in offshore geotechnical work, an integrated approach that combines surveying, analysis, and data services, and its global scale that supports the energy transition by characterizing sites for offshore wind and other sea-based infrastructure. Fugro’s goal is to enable more sustainable projects by providing accurate, actionable information about the terrain and subsurface before and during construction.

Fugro secures more work in Timor-Leste alongside new contract in Australia.

Fugro secures more work in Timor-Leste alongside new contract in Australia. September 24, 2026, by Nadja Skopljak Dutch Fugro has secured additional survey contracts offshore Timor-Leste that will support the planning and development of critical offshore energy infrastructure associated with two gas developments. In addition to the geophysical contract announced in July, Fugro has secured two further awards from Timor-Leste's Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MPRM) in support of the Greater Sunrise TLNG development and Bayu-Undan Pipelines Highway projects. The awards comprise a six-month geotechnical survey and a twelve-month metocean survey as part of the wider survey campaign for the proposed pipeline routes, expected to start in the first quarter of 2027, following the geophysical work in the third quarter of 2026. The campaign will support the Greater Sunrise Gas Export Pipeline from the Greater Sunrise field to Timor-Leste for the TLNG development planned at Natarbora on the south coast of Timor-Leste, and the Bayu-Undan Pipeline Highway to Natarbora. The aim of the surveys is to provide a comprehensive understanding of seabed and subsurface conditions along the proposed corridors to inform route selection and future engineering. The project will be supported by Fugro's Remote Operations Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Safri Drahman, Fugro's APAC Regional Business Line Director, said: "Winning the geophysical, geotechnical and metocean contracts reflects our ability to deliver fully integrated site characterisation solutions for complex deepwater developments. By combining our expertise with deepwater technologies, we can provide high-quality Geo-data and engineering insights to support informed decision-making, reduce project risk, and advance the Greater Sunrise and Bayu Undan developments in Timor-Leste." Bayu-Undan is a gas-condensate field located 250 kilometers south of East Timor, within Timor-Leste's maritime exclusive jurisdiction. It commenced production in 2004, with the companies behind the project having secured a seventh extension of the term of the production sharing contract (PSC). The Greater Sunrise development, located approximately 140 kilometers south of Timor-Leste, comprises the Sunrise and Troubadour gas and condensate fields. Discovered in 1974, the complex holds resources of 5.1 trillion cubic feet of gas and 226 million barrels of condensate. The project is expected to start producing natural gas by 2028-2030. Partners in the project are TIMOR GAP with 56.56%, Woodside Energy with 33.44% and Osaka Gas with 10%. The announcement comes shortly after Fugro secured a marine asset integrity contract in Australia for the replacement of critical subsea infrastructure to support the long-term reliability and performance of the client's offshore assets, as well as the provision of subsea survey and inspection services using remote operations capabilities. Offshore operations will be carried out from Fugro's multipurpose support vessel Fugro Etive. The contract follows an initial phase of engineering and planning activities with detailed engineering to begin in the coming weeks. Offshore operations are expected to commence towards the end of 2027. Power your brand with offshore energy. Take the spotlight and anchor your brand in the heart of the offshore world! Fugro strengthens Singapore innovation hub with new AI-driven marine digital twin.

Fugro strengthens Singapore innovation hub with new AI-driven marine digital twin. 03 Sep 2026 Fugro today announced the expansion of its innovation activities in Singapore through the development of an AI-driven marine digital twin capability. This initiative marks a major milestone in Fugro's global growth strategy and will further strengthen Singapore's role as Fugro's Asia Pacific hub for marine Geo-data innovation, helping clients make faster, more informed decisions for offshore and coastal developments. Supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), the expansion will deepen local capabilities in AI and digital engineering. Fugro Singapore will serve as the launchpad for regional deployment, connecting advanced AI and digital engineering expertise to clients across Asia Pacific. This AI-enabled platform unifies geophysical survey data, geotechnical site investigation results, laboratory data and imaging into a single digital analytics environment. Today, marine site characterisation often relies on fragmented, labour-intensive workflows and manual interpretation across disconnected datasets. By leveraging AI and machine learning, the platform will automate data integration, interpretation and analysis, helping to break down data silos, improve efficiency, and unlock deeper insights from complex marine Geo-data. The platform is expected to enhance decision-making for offshore and coastal development by delivering faster, more predictive ground intelligence to clients worldwide. It will also contribute to the growth of local expertise in AI, data science and digital engineering. Fugro expects to create new roles in Singapore across AI, data science and digital engineering as the platform scales. "Fugro's decision to expand its innovation hub in Singapore reflects confidence in our vibrant R&D ecosystem and digital talent pool. The expansion will deepen Singapore's capabilities in applying AI to offshore and coastal developments, while creating job opportunities for our local workforce. We look forward to Fugro scaling these capabilities globally from Singapore", said Soo Haw Yun, Vice President, Global Enterprises, EDB. "As offshore projects become increasingly complex, the ability to turn data into actionable insights is more important than ever. This initiative represents an important step in advancing marine Geo-data, helping clients make better-informed decisions while driving innovation from Singapore for regional and global markets. We are grateful for EDB's support in accelerating this journey," said Safri Drahman, Regional Line Director, Marine Site Characterisation Asia Pacific. Contact Fugro. Alchemist and Fugro win Gold in 2026 Brandon Hall Group(TM) HCM Excellence Awards(R).

Alchemist and Fugro win Gold in 2026 Brandon Hall Group(TM) HCM Excellence Awards(R). Customized U.Excel program for middle managers recognized for combining coaching, real-world application, and immersive practice through Boomtown simulation LONDON - Alchemist, a global leadership development company specializing in changing behavior at scale through practice-led learning, and Fugro, the world's leading Geo-data specialist, announced today that they won Gold in the Best Leadership Development Program category in the 2026 Brandon Hall Group(TM) HCM Excellence Awards(R). The winning initiative, U.Excel, is a customized program created for Fugro's middle managers. It was designed to build leadership confidence, strengthen strategic communication and turn learning into meaningful behavioral change. "We're proud to receive Gold and to have the work of our participants and learning team recognized," said Wouter Jan Kleinlugtenbelt, global head of learning at Fugro. "Our middle managers are a critical link between strategy and execution, so we didn't want a generic leadership course. The program was developed around the situations our leaders face every day." The 11-week development journey combined live virtual learning, diagnostic insight, one-to-one coaching, peer learning, practice between sessions, work on real business challenges, forum theatre, senior leader engagement and post-program reinforcement. The program culminated in Boomtown, a two-day, face-to-face immersive business simulation delivered by an Alchemist facilitator, coaches and professional actors. Participants stepped into a fictional company and were challenged to apply their new skills and behaviors in an environment designed to recreate the pressure, ambiguity and interpersonal dynamics of real leadership. "This award validates what can happen when an organization is willing to go beyond traditional leadership training and create opportunities for people to practice in situations that feel real. U.Excel was designed around that principle," said Russell Miller, CEO of Alchemist. "Boomtown brought those behaviors together in an environment where participants could test themselves, adapt and learn. It's a powerful example of what practice-led learning can achieve when it's built around the realities leaders face." Participant feedback highlighted the impact of the experience: * "A brilliantly designed, created and executed simulation that brought to life, in a short space of time, so many challenges that we often have to deal with. It massively reinforced the learnings of the course, brought it to life and made sure we'll remember Boomtown!" * "It is really something we can't learn in a classroom or virtually. The simulation reflects many real challenges we face at work." Program impact was measured through a combination of quantitative data, participant feedback, coaching insight, facilitator observation and follow-up evidence from the business. Across cohorts, U.Excel achieved: * 94% average positivity score across the program. * 96% average positivity score for the Boomtown simulation. * 95% said they gained value from the interactive nature of the simulation. The program also created opportunities for managers across countries and functions to build stronger connections with peers and senior leaders. The face-to-face experience added a different level of energy, visibility and connection next to the virtual part of the program. "Boomtown gave participants something that's very difficult to recreate through conventional learning," Kleinlugtenbelt added. "They could test themselves, see how their behavior affected others and receive immediate feedback, all within a safe environment. That combination of realism, challenge and reflection made the experience memorable and helped participants connect the learning directly to their work." "Every year, the HCM Excellence Awards remind us that innovation is ultimately about impact," Rachel Cooke, COO of Brandon Hall Group(TM) and HCM Excellence Awards(R) Program Leader. "The organizations recognized this year have demonstrated that great HR and learning strategies don't just improve programs, they strengthen organizations, empower people and deliver measurable business results. We are honored to celebrate their achievements." "The HCM Excellence Awards have become the most recognized benchmark for excellence in human capital management because organizations know they are earned, not given," Mike Cooke, CEO, Brandon Hall Group(TM). Every winning program has demonstrated measurable impact, innovation, and execution through one of the industry's most rigorous evaluation processes. We are proud to recognize the organizations setting the standard for the future of work."
