Panasonic drives immersive visuals for next-gen live golf experience.

Panasonic drives immersive visuals for next-gen live golf experience. TGL presented by SoFi offers a first-of-its-kind arena-scale environment Panasonic Projector & Display Corporation, a leading audiovisual technology provider, has joined forces with TMRW Sports and key partner Full Swing Golf to develop TGL presented by SoFi, a unique approach to live golf entertainment that combines virtual gameplay with live arena energy. By blending innovative technology and a bespoke venue, TGL brings together teams of world-class players in a fast-paced fan experience that is more dynamic and immersive than ever. Demanding projection environment. TGL sought to create an indoor golf experience at the SoFi Center in Florida that would feel realistic and immersive at an arena scale. With a vast 53-foot-high by 64-foot-wide screen, this demanded simulator technology that surpassed typical installations. In addition to serving as a projection surface for highly detailed virtual course environments, the screen needed to withstand real golf ball impact. Jason Langwell, CRO of TMRW Sports, says: "Our screen is enormous, you know, 24 times the size of a regular golf simulator screen. "And for that to come to life, the technology and the projection quality has to be very bright. It has to be immersive." With ambient light, LED displays, live crowd energy, and the demands of broadcast competition, the venue itself added further complication. The projected images needed to be bright, crisp, and lifelike, with dependable performance throughout each match. "The technology we use needs to be reliable. And it needs to be world-class. That's another reason why we partnered with our friends at Panasonic," says Langwell. Reliable high-performance projection. Panasonic Projector & Display Americas worked with TMRW Sport and Full Swing Golf to design and integrate a projection system with outstanding brightness, clarity, and reliability that would bring TGL's virtual courses to life and deliver a realistic experience evoking the scale and excitement of live competition. The system is built around nine Panasonic PT-RQ50K native 4K 3-chip DLP laser projectors, which were specifically engineered for large-venue environments where image quality, colour accuracy, and performance consistency are critical. Deployed across the main field of play, these provide 50,000 lumens of brightness with native 4K resolution and bring TGL's virtual courses to life with clarity and realism. Panasonic also developed a multi-projector system to deliver the reliability required for live competition. By distributing the image across several projectors, the system provides built-in redundancy. As such, play can continue even if an individual projector encounters an issue. For TGL, that level of resilience is vital in a high-pressure, broadcast-ready environment. Brightness was also key. Surrounded by LED displays, ambient lighting, and live audience energy, the projected image needed to stand out in a visually demanding arena. Andrew Macaulay, CTO of TMRW Sports, says: "This is a really noisy environment in terms of light and light pollution. We've got LED screens next to it. So this image really had to pop." The visual highlight of the SoFi Center is a huge projection screen measuring 53 feet high by 64 feet wide With Panasonic's high-brightness projection technology, the image can cut through this setting to maintain visibility and impact throughout every match. In addition to the main arena, in the Player Performance Center six Panasonic PT-VMZ71 Series LCD laser projectors are integrated with Full Swing simulators to offer individual driving bays. These projectors are compact, bright, and designed for versatile installation, ensuring a consistent, high-quality visual experience across all areas of the venue. Distinctive experience. TGL delivers a live golf experience that is dynamic, immersive, and the first-of-its-kind, powered by Panasonic projection technology fully integrated throughout SoFi Center. "Everyone's familiar with golf simulator technology and is able to play it and experience it at home," says Langwell. "But to be able to do that at this scale, the in-venue experience inside SoFi Center is just absolutely electric." Driving that experience is a projection system that combines multiple advanced technologies to meet the demands of live, broadcast-ready competition, with Panasonic providing the brightness, clarity, and dependability required to seamlessly support every shot. Panasonic's projection technology plays a central role in fulfilling TGL's ambition to turn virtual gameplay into a fully immersive, arena-scale experience. More widely, this project shows how advanced projection systems can reimagine what's possible for live sports and entertainment. As leagues, venues, and creators look to push the boundaries of fan engagement, Panasonic continues to collaborate at the cutting-edge, bringing together engineering expertise and real-world performance to drive the next generation of immersive experiences. Recently, Panasonic Projector & Display Americas LLC entered into a collaboration with Illumibot Inc. to launch the IllumiBeast mobile projection mapping system. Versant inks $530 million deal for sports tech company Full Swing.

Versant inks $530 million deal for sports tech company Full Swing. The tech company, best known for its advanced golf simulators, will expand the Golf Channel owner's presence in the tech and analytics space. July 6, 2026 5:00am Versant has cut an agreement for its biggest acquisition yet: a $530 million deal to acquire Full Swing, a sports technology company. Full Swing is best known for its advanced golf simulators, tracking and analytics software, though it also plays in other sports like baseball. Versant is paying $530 million in cash for the company, subject to customary purchase price adjustments. Versant is buying Full Swing from Bruin Capital and a group of minority investors. The deal will bolster the company's Golf vertical, which is anchored by Golf Channel, arguably Versant's flagship sports property, and the business line that CEO Mark Lazarus touts as the best example of where he wants to take the rest of the company. Versant's Golf business, after all, has the linear cable channel, but also GolfPass, a subscription and golf instruction product, as well as GolfNow, which provides software to book tee times and help golf courses manage reservations. "Our golf business is nearly 50% pay TV and 50% other revenue and profit. And that is a goal for us against those other verticals as well, where we're more heavily dependent today on the pay TV revenue," Lazarus said on the Mixed Signals podcast last year. "So that's kind of why it's the model home for what we're trying to do across the rest of the businesses." Full Swing adds advanced analytics and performance data, as well as Full Swing's simulator entertainment business, to that portfolio. Versant has been seeking deals for companies that can tuck into its existing verticals, as it has done with Free TV Networks to its entertainment business, and StockStory, which it folded into CNBC. That said, executives at the company have also expressed interest in adding other linear businesses, provided they fit into their go-forward strategy. You May Like
