Overview
Geocaching is a global platform for an outdoor treasure-hunting game. It runs the Geocaching app and uses GPS-enabled devices to let players search for hidden containers called geocaches. These caches are placed by geocachers and logged online after being found. The system works by showing a map of nearby caches, clues, and logs, so players can navigate to coordinates, search for the container, sign the log, and sometimes trade items. Geocaching has millions of caches across more than 190 countries, making it one of the largest community-led outdoor exploration networks. What sets Geocaching apart is its large, user-generated catalog of hidden containers and a strong global community that relies on collaboration, sharing clues, and maintaining cache sites over many years. The company’s goal is to inspire outdoor adventure, exploration, and community through this ongoing global game.
