When fleet management falls down the list.

When fleet management falls down the list. By Jay Mudrick, Fleet Advisory Associates, LLC Ask most transportation operators what keeps them awake at night and you'll hear familiar answers: finding drivers, controlling insurance costs, managing claims, growing the business, and keeping customers happy. Rarely does someone answer, "my fleet". Yet fleet is one of the largest investments on their balance sheet. And acquiring and operating that fleet is one of the largest ongoing expenses most operators have. Every fleet decision carries consequences that extend far beyond the vehicle purchase price. Financing strategy influences cash flow. Replacement timing affects maintenance costs, reliability, and downtime. Vehicle selection impacts driver satisfaction and customer experience. Seemingly small decisions compound over time, quietly shaping profitability year after year. One reason such high impact decisions are overlooked is that no one truly "owns" fleet management. Those responsibilities fall to an owner, operations manager, controller, or CFO who already wears several hats. Fleet doesn't always receive the attention it deserves because owners don't care. It's because there are only so many hours in a day. TTA recognized that reality and asked a simple question: "How can we provide members with a practical benefit that delivers meaningful value today while helping them make smarter fleet decisions tomorrow?" The result is the TTA Fleet Advantage Program. Created by TTA and powered by trusted industry partners, Fleet Advantage was designed to become a lasting member resource. Fleet Advantage isn't built around a transaction. It's built around a philosophy - that transportation operators of every size should have access to the same fleet expertise, resources, and strategic thinking traditionally reserved for the largest organizations. Whether a member operates five vehicles or five hundred, the objective is the same: make better fleet decisions, improve financial performance, and strengthen the business over the long term. And Fleet Advantage is about more than a financial incentive. It reflects a broader philosophy: fleet should be managed strategically, not simply transaction by transaction. Better fleet decisions create stronger businesses. To bring that philosophy to life, TTA partnered with Holman Fleet - one of North America's leading fleet management organizations and Fleet Advisory Associates to create the TTA Fleet Advantage Program. The program launches with Holman's First Payment Waiver. Unlike a traditional "skip payment," nothing is added back later. The first payment is simply waived. For operators replacing multiple vehicles each year, the savings can be substantial. A fleet replacing five vehicles annually could realize savings of approximately $12,000 to $15,000 each year simply by taking advantage of this member-exclusive benefit. Those dollars remain available to invest in people, operations, growth, or simply to strengthen cash flow. By combining TTA's commitment to member value with Holman's century of fleet management experience, members gain access to fleet expertise, national resources, and strategic guidance that can help lower operating costs, improve cash flow, and simplify one of the most complex and costly parts of running a transportation business. And this is only the beginning. Holman perspective. "Holman is proud to partner with The Transportation Alliance on the TTA Fleet Advantage Program. Together, we're committed to helping TTA members improve fleet performance, reduce costs, and support long-term growth." * Dave Nemerofsky, Sales Channel Manager, Small Business Solutions, Holman Fleet The First Payment Waiver serves as the inaugural benefit of the TTA Fleet Advantage Program, establishing the foundation for what we believe will become an increasingly valuable member resource over time. As the program evolves, TTA will continue looking for meaningful opportunities that help members operate more efficiently, strengthen their businesses, and optimize the performance of their fleets. Programs don't become valuable because they're announced. They become valuable because members use them. We believe the strongest member benefits aren't one-time discounts. They're partnerships that continue creating value year after year. Fleet Advantage was designed with that objective in mind. Today's launch marks the beginning of what we hope will become one of TTA's most valuable member resources. We invite you to explore the program, learn more about its inaugural benefits, and join us as Fleet Advantage continues to evolve. Click below to learn more about TTA Fleet Advantage and First Payment Waiver and find additional program details, frequently asked questions, how to join TTA and capture these benefits, and more Today's launch is simply the first step, take it with us.

Javier Rabinovich's Privé bets on office in off-the-beaten-path market.

Javier Rabinovich's Privé bets on office in off-the-beaten-path market. Firm proposed 75-foot-tall building near North Miami Privé Group, led by Javier Rabinovich, is staking an office bet in an area where few others have in recent years. Miami-based Privé proposes a 75-foot tall building in an unincorporated area between North Miami and Miami Shores, while most office developers as of recent have homed in on Bay Harbor Islands, Miami Beach and Miami's prime markets such as Coconut Grove or Wynwood. Privé, through an affiliate, wants to build the six-story project with a rooftop lobby on a 0.3-acre site at 11032 and 11034 Biscayne Boulevard, according to its pre-application filing to Miami-Dade submitted this month. The building would also have a parking level and a car storage level, serviced by a car elevator. A floor plan shows a car showroom and a coffee shop. A pre-application filing is a way for developers to gauge county staff members' input on proposed projects before submitting an official application. Records show Privé's affiliate paid nearly $2 million for the two-lot development site in two deals in 2023 and 2024. Rabinovich founded Privé in 2001 as a holding company for several divisions, including commercial real estate firm Privé Investment Fund, equity investment firm Privé Capital, consultancy Privé Consulting Group, Privé Development, Privé Asset Management and telecommunications firm PrivéTel, according to Rabinovich's LinkedIn. In 2015, Privé Land Banking and CK Holding Group bought Dean's Gold strip club at a major North Miami Beach intersection, which leads to Sunny Isles Beach, for $23.5 million, with plans for a mixed-use project. The partners paid $8.3 million for the site at 2261Northeast 164th Street in 2016 and also own nearby properties. Records show CK Privé Group 1800 bought two lots immediately north of Dean's Gold, paying $12.7 million in 2015 for one and $12.6 million in 2016 for the second. Privé didn't immediately return a request for comment, including on whether the office building would be developed on spec or custom built for a specific tenant. The North Miami/Miami Shores area primarily has attracted multifamily development. Omega Real Estate Management finished the 358-unit Gardens Residences at 1155 Northeast 126th Street in recent years, scoring a $103 million refinancing in 2024 when the project was nearing completion. In December, Continua Developments and SP Developments started building the 12-story Urbania NoMi 6ave with 240 apartments in North Miami. Last month, auto dealership group Holman opened a two-story Porsche center spanning 339,000 square feet with a 49,600-square-foot showroom and a 215,000-square-foot garage in North Miami.

News in brief: Hay for Holman; EV battery warranty; Connected data for small fleets.

News in brief: Hay for Holman; EV battery warranty; Connected data for small fleets. News 2 hours ago Nick Hay is new Managing Director of Holman. NICK Hay is the new Managing Director of leasing and fleet management company Holman UK, effective 08 June 2026. Hay brings a strong track record of driving growth and building high-performing teams across the automotive and logistics sectors, as Holman looks for a more aggressive stance in the sector. With more than 30 years' experience in logistics, Hay has served as Managing Director of Samworth Brothers Distribution, was Chief Executive Officer of Fowler Welch for 10 years and, most recently, CEO of supply chain specialist Gist. Nick Hay, who started in his new role on 8 June, said: "This is the most excited I have been about a new role in many years. As I have got to know Holman, I have been struck by the strength of its culture and the real value its services deliver for customers. "Combining that culture and service offering with long-term ownership creates a strong foundation for growth. I am looking forward to getting to know the team, our customers and our suppliers as we continue to strengthen Holman's position in the UK." Aviloo battery warranty for used EVs. EV battery diagnostics firm Aviloo has launched the UK's first financially backed battery warranty for used electric vehicles. The Aviloo Battery Warranty, which provides used EV buyers with financially backed protection based on independent battery health data, comes into effect in July in the UK, launching simultaneously in Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, Austria, Belgium, Ireland and Switzerland, following successful rollouts in France and Sweden in June. The used EV market in the UK is growing rapidly, and concern over RVs is beginning to dissipate, according to the latest report from Cazana. CEO of Aviloo, Marcus Berger, announcing the warranty, said: "The UK has one of Europe's most dynamic used EV markets, and we see enormous appetite from both dealers and consumers to get this right. With the Battery Warranty, we are setting a new industry standard - one that provides orientation for all market participants, strengthens the case for electric mobility, and ensures that used EVs are seen not as a risk, but as a sustainable, trustworthy choice." Small fleets can lower insurance costs with connected data. A NEW Geotab Report for small and medium-sized fleets has found that 58% of small fleets cite insurance premiums as one of their primary operational pressures. With insurers facing increased repair costs and higher claim frequencies, these costs are being passed onto operators. For many fleets, simply staying insurable in this high-cost market is becoming a strategic challenge. But Geotab says the solution lies in actively reducing risk and proving it with hard data. "By leveraging connected fleet technology and video telematics, businesses can protect their margins, exonerate their drivers, and fundamentally change their conversations with insurance providers," the company told Broker News. Here is how data-driven fleets can survive the insurance squeeze: Eliminate the cost of false claims with visual context. One of the most frustrating drivers of high insurance costs is the "he-said, she-said" scenario of a collision. Move from reactive to predictive safety. Insurers price their premiums based on risk. The best way to lower your insurance costs is to stop incidents before they happen. Telematics systems record precise behavioral data, such as harsh braking, rapid acceleration, and speeding. Turn your safety record into a negotiating tool. When it comes time to renew your policy, insurers want to see evidence of a well-managed, low-risk fleet. Historically, small fleets have had to rely on a lack of claims as their only proof of safety.

News in Brief: AFL growth award; Holman appointment; Bushnell on new AMAPs. News 49 seconds ago AFL achievement at Small Business Growth Awards. CONGRATULATIONS to AFL Fleet Management, the Slough-based leasing broker was Runner Up in the Small Business Growth Awards - South and Thames Valley. Organised by the Federation of Small Businesses, and supported by HSBC Bank, Ain Fatima (AI Business Analyst) on the left above and Daphne Fagan (Chair) on the right above, received the award at the Oxford awards event. "We are proud to have been recognised as a Runner-Up in the Innovation Award category, sponsored by Microsoft, and selected from over 2,000 applicants - a significant milestone for AFL Group and a reflection of our continued focus on driving innovation across the business." Martin Reeves appointed Director of Sales at Holman. MARTIN Reeves is the new Director of Sales at fast expanding leaseco Holman. The role is newly created with a focus strategic leadership and support for the sales team. Reporting to Holman Commercial Director Rory Mackinnon, Martin Reeves is an experienced fleet management executive, with a career that includes stints with Zenith Leasing and ALD Automotive as well as GE Capital. Commenting on the appointment, Martin said: "I'm delighted to be joining at such an exciting time of change within the industry. In an established market, the opportunity for positive change using data driven decision making means Holman can offer a truly different way to deliver cost and operational savings, with their unique approach to vehicle asset management." David Bushnell comments on the new AMAP rates. WITH the Approved Mileage Rates (AMAPs) rising by 10p per mile to 55p, David Bushnell, Director of Consultancy and Strategy at Fleet Operations said: "Any move to ease cost pressures for drivers is welcome, and this 10p increase in tax-free mileage rates will certainly be helpful for employees who use their own cars for business mileage and rely on AMAP payments. "Mileage rates have felt increasingly out of step with the real cost of running a vehicle, so this is a positive step for grey fleet drivers and the employers that rely on them. "However, it can only be viewed as a partial measure. It supports employees doing business mileage in their own vehicles, but it does little for fleets, company car drivers, commuters or businesses managing wider transport costs. "For many motorists and businesses, the bigger issue remains the day-to-day cost of mobility. Fuel prices, charging costs and the uneven tax treatment of public EV charging continue to put pressure on both drivers and employers." AMAP rates increased to 55p per mile for the 2026-27 financial year, applicable for the first 10,000 miles travelled in a personal car on business; mileage beyond 10,000 and the rate drops to the established 25p per mile.
