Honda engineers create new Trail Experience app to elevate off-road adventures of Honda TrailSport SUV owners. June 15, 2026 - RAYMOND, OH * Innovative Honda Trail Experience (HTX) app created by Honda engineers in collaboration with Honda TrailSport owners and off-road enthusiasts * Honda Passport TrailSport, Pilot TrailSport and CR-V TrailSport owners can download HTX for free from the Apple App Store * HTX utilizes customizable real-time vehicle data to improve driver confidence and safety on the trail * Honda TrailSport owners can easily create and share videos on social media of their off-road adventures with map and performance data overlays Honda is bringing high tech to the trail with today's official launch of Honda Trail Experience (HTX), an innovative new off-road app created exclusively for Honda TrailSport owners looking to enhance off-roading adventures in the 2026 Passport TrailSport, 2026 Pilot TrailSport and 2026 CR-V TrailSport. Developed by Honda engineers in collaboration with input from more than 1,500 owners of the 2026 Passport TrailSport, the HTX application enhances off-road experiences by providing essential real-time vehicle data and advanced video capabilities. This intuitive tool is designed to improve driver confidence, safety and overall enjoyment during off-road excursions. HTX, the first off-road focused app from Honda, is now available in the Apple App Store as a free download. "With the launch of the Honda Trail Experience app, we're empowering TrailSport owners to get more from every off-road journey - delivering real-time vehicle data, intuitive navigation tools, and seamless video sharing to help them drive with confidence and celebrate every adventure," said Omar Saleh, HTX Project Lead at Honda Development and Manufacturing of America. Critical Vehicle Data Engineered and designed by members of the 2026 Honda Passport development team at the Honda North American Automotive Development Center (ADC), HTX helps the driver better navigate the terrain and provide a complete record of the adventure. These critical vehicle information points include elevation, pitch, roll, brake pressure, throttle position, speed, engine temperature, outside temperature, tire angle, latitude and longitude. HTX seamlessly connects the user's iPhone to Honda TrailSport SUVs via Apple CarPlay to source and log 11 critical data points directly from the vehicle. While out on the trail, users can customize the clear, easy-to-read display by selecting up to six data points shown on the SUV's touchscreen at any time. Interactive maps and recorded data enable users to revisit their routes anytime. Easy Video Capture and Sharing HTX is the only app to allow users to easily export videos with data overlays. This makes it effortless to create and share videos synced with trail data, includingmap and performance overlays that will wow their friends, family and social media followers. HTX offers video capture with audio using the iPhone camera and microphone, making it easier than ever for Honda TrailSport SUV owners to document and share their off-road experiences. Video capture is controlled from the vehicle touchscreen enabling TrailSport owners the flexibility and creativity to mount their device anywhere on the SUV. This includes on the inside or outside of the vehicle or even held by a spectator filming from anywhere within range for more dynamic footage. The app also supports still photo capture for documenting key moments. Continuous Development Honda plans to continue expanding the feature set and capabilities of HTX with the help of its customers and the off-road community. In January 2026, the HTX development team hosted beginner, novice and expert off-roaders at The Overland Company in Troy, North Carolina, for a day of real-world usability validation of the app out on the trail. Feedback from the diverse group, which included owners of Honda Passport TrailSports and other popular 4X4s, will influence near-term user experience updates and enhancements to HTX. A "Share Feedback" feature also gives HTX users the ability to provide their comments directly to the Honda development team. An Android version of HTX will be available in the future. Honda CEO survived a revolt.

Honda CEO survived a revolt. Auto Drive June 13, 2026 Honda's biggest battle recently hasn't been on the road. It's been in the boardroom. After shelving much of its planned EV programme and posting its first annual loss in nearly 70 years, CEO Toshihiro Mibe reportedly came under pressure from a group of former senior executives who, at one stage, wanted him out. According to Reuters, several ex-Honda executives met late last year to compile a list of grievances regarding Mibe's leadership. Among their concerns were Honda's deteriorating position in China and what they viewed as questionable strategic priorities, including spending on sports sponsorship activities. A written summary of those discussions, reviewed by Reuters, suggested the group believed Mibe was no longer listening closely enough to customers. Some of his public comments were also said to have damaged morale within the company. The report goes further. Reuters says former Honda chief executive Nobuhiko Kawamoto met Mibe in April and urged him to resign. He didn't. Mibe remains Honda's chief executive. The timing isn't exactly ideal. Honda is in the middle of one of the biggest strategic resets in its recent history. The company has abandoned its previous ambition of becoming an all-electric manufacturer by 2040, cancelled three planned EV programmes and is reassessing much of its long-term product strategy. Following the latest financial results, Mibe accepted a 30 percent pay cut after Honda reported its first annual loss in almost seven decades. The Honda Odyssey will now remain in production until March 2030 before eventually being replaced. The HR-V is also expected to stick around longer than originally planned. Meanwhile, the Accord is preparing for a substantial update. Expect sharper styling while retaining its existing powertrains in the short term, before gradually moving toward a hybrid-only lineup around 2030. According to the company, the new powertrain is being engineered to deliver "powerful driving performance and high towing capacity," targeting larger vehicles that need more muscle than today's downsized engines typically provide. Reports suggest the emphasis is less about chasing huge horsepower numbers and more about efficiency, with Honda targeting roughly a 30 percent improvement in fuel economy as it attempts to balance emissions regulations with what buyers actually want. Which leaves Honda facing two separate challenges. One is deciding what its future products should look like. The other is determining who'll still be in charge when they arrive.

Honda issues massive recall of nearly 900K vehicles over winter road threat.

Honda issues massive recall of nearly 900K vehicles over winter road threat. by Aaron Leong - Thursday, June 11, 2026, 11:30 AM EDT Honda of America has issued a major voluntary safety recall affecting roughly 880,000 SUVs and pickup trucks in the U.S. due to a defect that can cause severe rear subframe rust and potential suspension failure. Video Muted The recall impacts several popular high-volume models across both the Honda and Acura lineups. Models specifically included are the 2014-2020 Acura MDX, the 2016-2022 Honda Pilot, the 2017-2023 Honda Ridgeline, and the 2019-2023 Honda Passport. The root problem stems from improper anti-corrosion coating applied during manufacturing. Over time, vehicles driven in the salt belt regions can experience aggressive corrosion on the rear subframe. Speaking of, this campaign is therefore limited to vehicles sold in Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. According to documents submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the rust can severely compromise the structural integrity of the subframe. Allowed to progress far enough, it can cause the mounting points for the rear control arms or lower suspension arms to fracture and separate from the vehicle. Despite the severity of the structural defect, Honda reported that as of May 28, the automaker had not received any warranty claims, nor were there any reports of accidents, injuries, or deaths related to the subframe rust. To stay proactive on this issue, Honda and Acura dealerships will inspect the rear subframe of recalled vehicles. Based on the level of rust found during the inspection, technicians will install a rear subframe reinforcement kit designed to brace the assembly. If the technician discovers that the corrosion has already progressed too far, the dealership will repair or replace damaged components entirely. All inspection and repair work will be free of charge to the vehicle owners. Honda is sending out notification letters to owners detailing when to schedule an appointment with an authorized dealer. In the meantime, if you'd like to check if your vehicle is included in the recall, use the official Honda/Acura recall website (PDF) and enter your car's 17-digit VIN, or you can also check the NHTSA recall database. Tech enthusiast, YouTuber, engineer, rock climber, family guy. 'Nuff said.
