Huron-Clinton Metroparks

Operates regional metroparks; recreation and education

Overview

Huron-Clinton Metroparks is a regional park system that manages 13 parks along the Huron and Clinton rivers in five Michigan counties. It provides places for recreation and learning, including fishing, swimming, boating, hiking, biking, golf, and winter sports, as well as field trips and programs about science, nature, history, and the environment. The parks work by offering trails, facilities, and organized activities that visitors can use for leisure and education. What sets it apart is its shared regional management by the Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Authority and its commitment to stewarding natural resources across multiple communities while offering extensive educational programs. The goal is to give residents high-quality outdoor recreation while protecting natural resources and promoting science and nature education.

  • Climate and accessibility capital programs shift execution risk to maintenance, procurement, and schedule slippage.

What makes Huron-Clinton Metroparks unique

  • Five-county Metroparks system spans 21,000 acres, creating unmatched regional scale and density.
  • Their 2026 Climate Action Plan ties parks operations to measurable restoration, electrification, and waste reduction.
  • Accessibility investments, including ADA transition planning and adaptive recreation, broaden a rare public-market moat.
