Impulse

Direct-to-consumer induction cooktops with battery storage

Overview

Impulse Labs makes electric kitchen appliances, with a focus on the Impulse Induction Cooktop sold directly to consumers via preorders. The core product uses induction heating to cook efficiently and can be installed easily in homes. A distinguishing feature is built-in battery storage that lets users store renewable energy for cooking, and potentially helps the power grid. The company targets environmentally conscious home cooks and positions its products in the home appliance market for electric cooking devices. The business model centers on direct-to-consumer sales through preorders and using customer data for advertising. The goal is to help households switch to electric energy, promote a cleaner environment, and provide scalable energy storage in kitchen appliances.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Eximius launched at EuroCucina 2026, opening European preorders later this year.
  • Impulse says 30-inch cooktops shipped for over a year, with 36-inch shipments starting May 2026.
  • Lux Capital's $20 million Series A totals $25 million, funding multi-partner expansion.

What critics are saying

  • Copper sued Impulse in Delaware on April 3, 2026, over battery-cooktop patents.
  • Italian manufacturing with BSSG adds supply-chain dependence, certification risk, and launch delays.
  • A patent injunction would freeze U.S. sales and cripple the Impulse Core licensing strategy.

What makes Impulse unique

  • A 3 kWh battery enables 10,000-watt burners and installs without panel upgrades.
  • Impulse Core powers partner products for THOR Kitchen, Zephyr, and BSSG.
  • Eximius adds integrated downdraft ventilation and 10 kW zones in Europe.

Impulse Labs enters Europe with 10kW induction cooktop manufactured in Italy

Impulse Labs has partnered with Italian manufacturer BS Service Group to launch Eximius, a high-performance induction cooktop for the European market. The product, unveiled at EuroCucina 2026 in Milan, marks Impulse's first European manufacturing deal. Built on the Impulse Core platform, Eximius delivers 10 kW per zone — three times standard induction output — and runs on an onboard battery, enabling professional-grade performance regardless of grid capacity. It's the first Impulse product to integrate downdraft ventilation, eliminating the need for a separate hood. BSSG will manufacture Eximius under the Uniqa brand in Fabriano, Italy. European pre-orders are expected later this year, with US availability to follow. Impulse now has three active Core partners, including THOR Kitchen and Zephyr in the US market.
