The company said it will invest more than $15 million to expand their operation by adding more than 108,000 square feet of manufacturing space while creating 60 new full-time jobs and retaining their current workforce. Founded in 1985, Intermountain Electronics has grown from a small equipment repair company into a nationally recognized manufacturer and heavy electrical equipment and engineered power solutions. The Centralia facility, which opened in 2012 with just 12 employees, has expanded nearly fourfold in square footage and now employs 141 people. Following completion of the expansion, employment at the Centralia site is expected to reach approximately 201 employees by the end of 2028.

FOX23 News at 9 p.m. 10 hours ago CENTRALIA, Ill., (KBSI) - JB Pritzker announced Wednesday that Intermountain Electronics will invest more than $15 million to expand its operations in Centralia, adding more than 108,000 square feet of manufacturing space and creating 60 full-time jobs. State officials said the expansion will also retain the company's current workforce as it increases production capacity tied to clean energy and advanced manufacturing. "Illinois has a storied tradition as a manufacturing powerhouse, and we are thrilled Intermountain Electronics chose to expand in Centralia," Pritzker said in a statement. Intermountain Electronics manufactures heavy electrical equipment and engineered power solutions. Company officials said the expansion will significantly increase production of power distribution units, which support renewable energy systems and artificial intelligence infrastructure. The company's Centralia facility opened in 2012 with 12 employees and currently employs 141 workers. Officials said employment at the site is expected to grow to about 201 employees by the end of 2028 following completion of the expansion. "This investment reinforces our commitment to Centralia and to manufacturing in the United States," Intermountain Electronics CEO Bobby Houston said in a statement. State officials said the project is supported through Illinois' Reimagining Energy and Vehicles program, which offers incentives for companies involved in clean energy production and manufacturing. Intermountain Electronics has also partnered with Kaskaskia College, Centralia High School and the Illinois Department of Employment Security to develop apprenticeship and workforce training programs aimed at supporting hiring efforts as the company expands.
