Gartner Magic Quadrant for ITSM 2026: what it measures and who it fits.

Gartner Magic Quadrant for ITSM 2026: what it measures and who it fits. August 3, 2026 Join IT Pulse Check out InvGate as your ITSM solution 30-day free trial - No credit card needed Table of contents The Gartner(R) Magic Quadrant(TM) for ITSM platforms is one of the most widely used pieces of research in the IT Service Management market, and the 2026 edition is now out. Choosing an ITSM platform is a long-term commitment - the tool a team selects shapes how it handles incidents, requests, and changes for years - so IT leaders lean on a trusted outside reference before building a shortlist, and this report is often where they start. The report evaluates the leading vendors and plots them on a single grid, giving buyers a quick read on who competes in the space and how they compare. In this year's edition, InvGate received an Honorable Mention. In this guide, InvGate co walk through what the 2026 report covers, how its four quadrants work, and how to get the most out of it for your own evaluation. What is the ITSM Gartner Magic Quadrant? The ITSM Gartner Magic Quadrant is an annual report that analyzes and evaluates vendors in the ITSM market. Developed by Gartner, a leading research and advisory firm, this report classifies ITSM vendors based on their ability to execute and the completeness of their vision. The resulting two-dimensional grid (known as the Magic Quadrant or MQ) categorizes vendors into four quadrants. It was first introduced as a way to help businesses make more informed ITSM decisions, and became a trusted source for comparing vendors on a global scale. It offers a clear snapshot of where vendors stand and which ITSM platforms lead the pack in terms of innovation and reliability. How does the IT Service Management Magic Quadrant work? The methodology behind the IT Service Management Magic Quadrant is based on two key dimensions: "ability to execute" and "completeness of vision". * Ability to execute (Y-axis): how well a vendor delivers in practice - product performance, customer experience, support, and operational maturity * Completeness of vision (X-axis): how forward-looking the vendor is - product strategy, innovation, and understanding of market direction Each vendor is positioned on this chart according to Gartner's assessment, which combines product analysis, customer feedback, and market criteria. That placement determines which of the four quadrants they fall into: * Leaders: strong execution today, with a clear and consistent vision for the future * Challengers: solid delivery and scale, but a less differentiated or forward-looking strategy * Visionaries: innovative approach and clear direction, but less proven execution at scale * Niche Players: focused on specific use cases, regions, or segments, rather than broad market coverage InvGate Service Management ITSM software 4.8 Gartner | The criteria behind the 2026 Quadrant Before comparing vendors, the report defines who qualifies to appear. Gartner describes ITSM platforms as "software that provides Workflow Management and automation so organizations can deliver, run, improve, and govern their IT-enabled services", acting as a "system of record for core ITSM practices" and typically delivered as SaaS. For the 2026 edition, vendors had to offer out-of-the-box support for Incident, Problem, Request, Change, and Knowledge Management, augmented by an integrated Configuration Management system and the ability to define and monitor service levels. What the criteria means for large and small IT teams: its read Reading the evaluation criteria closely, InvGate co see a profile that points primarily to large organizations - roughly 30,000 or more employees - served by vendors that typically ship one or two major releases a year and run implementations measured in quarters or even years. Those figures are its own estimates based on the characteristics Gartner emphasizes, not published thresholds. For organizations operating at that scale, InvGate co believe the Magic Quadrant can significantly narrow the field with emphasis on vendor maturity, global presence, breadth of capabilities, long-term product strategy, and the ability to support large, complex environments. On the other hand, InvGate co consider smaller organizations, mid-market companies, and fast-growing IT teams often optimize for a different set of priorities. Their success is more likely to depend on how quickly they can deploy the platform, how easily administrators can configure workflows, the overall cost of ownership, the quality of vendor support, and how readily the product can adapt as the team grows. Of course, those considerations aren't absent from the Magic Quadrant, but they might not carry the same weight. In that context, InvGate co believe the Magic Quadrant is one of the clearest and most consistent frameworks for evaluating the ITSM market and identifying leading vendors. InvGate co also believe the final evaluation should reflect your organization's own priorities, operational requirements, and long-term goals. How InvGate Service Management performs in the current Gartner evaluations InvGate received an Honorable Mention in the 2026 report, a designation Gartner uses to acknowledge noteworthy providers outside the formal Magic Quadrant evaluation. The way InvGate co see it, that placement reflects a design choice. InvGate Service Management is built for speed and self-sufficiency: most teams are up and running in weeks, configure their own workflows and automations, and receive new features on a release cycle that ships every two weeks. Those are the strengths InvGate optimizes for, and they sit apart from the requirements the 2026 criteria center on. For an organization that wants a platform live quickly and improving constantly, that focus is the advantage. Separately from the Magic Quadrant, InvGate was named a 2025 Gartner(R) Peer Insights(TM) Customers' Choice for ITSM Platforms. In the 2025 Gartner(R) Voice of the Customer(TM) report for ITSM platforms, InvGate held an overall rating of 4.9 out of 5 and a 94% willingness-to-recommend score, based on 73 reviews as of 31 May 2025. It was also listed among the 20 leading vendors worldwide in the 2025 Gartner(R) Market Guide for ITSM platforms. How to use the Magic Quadrant in your ITSM evaluation InvGate co think the Magic Quadrant is most valuable when you use it to ask better questions, not simply to rank vendors. Start with the vendors that appear to match your organization's needs, then use the report's findings to guide your evaluation. * Compare vendors within the same quadrant. Don't assume every Leader - or every Challenger - is equally suited to your organization. Read why each vendor was positioned there and compare their strengths and cautions against your own priorities. * Pay attention to the "Cautions." Every vendor has trade-offs. A caution that matters little to a global enterprise may be critical for a smaller IT team, or vice versa. * Use the evaluation criteria. Gartner assesses areas such as product capabilities, execution, and strategy. Decide which of those factors matter most to your organization and which deserve less weight. * Validate the report with customer evidence. Compare Gartner's assessment with Gartner Peer Insights reviews and independent user feedback to see whether day-to-day experience aligns with the analyst perspective. * Re-rank vendors based on your priorities. The Magic Quadrant reflects Gartner's weighting of the criteria. Your shortlist should reflect yours. How much weight to give the report depends on your organization. For the largest enterprises, it works as close to a shortlist. For a leaner IT team that expects frequent updates and needs to be live in weeks, InvGate co suggest weighting the evaluation differently. * Filter peer reviews by company size on Gartner(R) Peer Insights(TM). * Ask for reference calls with organizations of your size and industry. * Total the full cost, including professional services and per-seat add-ons. * Ask each vendor when their last ten releases actually shipped. * Run a hands-on trial with your own processes, not only a guided demo. In short, the report provides a consistent framework for comparing vendors, backed by a well-defined evaluation methodology. You can use that analysis as the foundation for your own assessment, then consider the operational, technical, and business requirements that are specific to your organization. If you're comparing ITSM platforms, reviewing the product directly is the next step. You can request a demo of InvGate Service Management to see how it fits your processes and requirements. InvGate named leader in research in Action ITSM Matrix 2026. July 29, 2026 Join IT Pulse Check out InvGate as your ITSM solution 30-day free trial - No credit card needed Table of contents Independent research and consulting firm Research In Action has named InvGate among the top 10 market leaders in its Vendor Selection Matrix(TM)- IT And Enterprise Service Management Solutions: The Top Global Vendors 2026. Published on June 1, 2026, the report recognizes InvGate Service Management alongside the most established names in the category. How the ranking was built The Vendor Selection Matrix(TM) is a primarily survey-based methodology, which is one of the things that sets it apart from analyst-opinion-led evaluations. For this edition, Research In Action interviewed 1,000 enterprise IT and business managers with budget responsibility across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific. Sixty-three percent of each vendor's evaluation comes directly from that buyer survey, with the remaining 37% drawn from the analyst's independent assessment, informed by in-depth interviews with vendors and their customers. Vendors that received fewer than 15 ratings were excluded, so every named leader cleared a meaningful bar of real buyer recognition. InvGate is one of ten vendors named as market leaders in this edition, which lists its leaders in alphabetical order. The 2026 trends shaping the category Research In Action's analysis points to a category being reshaped by AI, and three shifts stand out. The first is a redefinition of what "good service" means. Teams are moving past dashboards that only confirm tickets closed on time and toward metrics that capture how employees actually experience support, with AI helping surface where that experience breaks down. The second is the rise of AI that acts. The conversation is moving on from assistants that draft and summarize, toward agents that can carry out routine service work on their own, with people stepping into a role focused on oversight and orchestration. The third is a more predictive approach to established frameworks like ITIL. AI is pushing service operations from reacting to problems toward anticipating them, from faster incident resolution to smarter, lower-risk change management. The full report explores each of these shifts in more depth. Why this recognition matters These three trends share one requirement. Experience-led service, agentic automation, and predictive ITIL all depend on operations a team can see, govern, and trust. That is exactly the ground InvGate Service Management is built on: governed workflows, controlled automation, full traceability, deployment measured in weeks, and an orchestration layer the existing team can operate while AI augments their work. It is a pragmatic path to the AI-ready service operation the market is now moving toward, and more. Being named a top 10 global leader, in a report weighted heavily toward the voice of enterprise buyers, reflects that approach resonating with the people who run service operations every day.

InvGate named Challenger in gigaom ITSM and ITAM Radar.

InvGate named Challenger in gigaom ITSM and ITAM Radar. July 29, 2026 Join IT Pulse Check out InvGate as your ITSM and ITAM solution 30-day free trial - No credit card needed Table of contents GigaOm has published two Radar reports - one for IT Service Management (ITSM) and one for IT Asset Management (ITAM) - and InvGate earned recognition in each. Across both the GigaOm Radar for ITSM v5 (March 2026) and the GigaOm Radar for ITAM v3 (January 2026), InvGate holds the same placement: a Challenger and a Fast Mover in the Maturity/Feature Play quadrant. In GigaOm's terms, Challenger marks a solution with strong, well-rounded capabilities, and Fast Mover marks one whose trajectory is advancing quickly across the field over the next 12 to 18 months. Both reports are authored by analyst Lisa Erickson-Harris. How the GigaOm radar works The GigaOm Radar evaluates vendor solutions in a given market and plots each one on a circular chart built from scored, weighted technical criteria. Three elements define where a solution sits and what its placement means. * The rings. The chart is made of three concentric rings. The outer ring holds New Entrants, the middle ring holds Challengers, and the inner ring is reserved for Leaders. The closer a vendor sits to the center, the more complete its solution is judged to be. * The quadrants. Two axes cross the chart. The vertical axis runs from Maturity to Innovation: mature solutions emphasize proven, stable capabilities; innovative ones lead with newer, fast-evolving approaches. The horizontal axis runs from Feature Play to Platform Play: feature players concentrate on depth in specific capabilities, and platform players spread across a broad surface. The two axes form four quadrants. A placement in the Maturity/Feature Play quadrant reflects a solution recognized for proven capabilities delivered with real depth. * The arrowhead. Each vendor carries an arrow that projects its expected pace of development over the next 12 to 18 months, graded from Forward Mover to Fast Mover to Outperformer. A Fast Mover is advancing at a strong clip relative to the field. Scoring is technology-focused. Key features and business criteria - the nonfunctional requirements such as flexibility, security, and cost transparency - carry the highest weighting, emerging features weigh in lower, and the result reflects each product's technical capabilities and roadmap. Commercial factors such as market share, customer share, spend, and time in the market sit outside the evaluation, so they have no effect on where a vendor lands. What GigaOm evaluated in ITSM GigaOm's ITSM Radar examined 21 of the top ITIL-certified ITSM solutions. To qualify, vendors needed certification evidence in at least five ITIL 4 practices. Scoring weighed key features such as self-service portals, knowledge management, asset discovery, workflow automation, enterprise service management, and more, along with emerging capabilities and nonfunctional business criteria. Within that field, InvGate Service Management is positioned as a Challenger and Fast Mover in the Maturity/Feature Play quadrant. The report notes that InvGate Service Management is certified in fifteen ITIL 4 disciplines with PeopleCert, well beyond the report's baseline. GigaOm highlighted three areas of strength: * Knowledge Management, driven by proprietary AI search and automation, with predefined templates for user content suggestions and an AI-based knowledge discovery feature. * Workflow automation, delivered through a no-code workflow engine with a drag-and-drop visual builder, plug-and-play building blocks, and predefined governance within workflows. * Asset discovery, included with the ITSM solution at no additional cost, using discovery, agent monitoring, and automatic mapping to populate the CMDB. What GigaOm evaluated in ITAM The ITAM Radar by GigaOM examined 23 of the top ITAM solutions. Scoring weighed key features spanning asset domains such as: automated discovery, Financial Management, Lifecycle Management, Compliance Management, contract and Vendor Management, predictive risk, integrations, and more. InvGate Asset Management is likewise positioned as a Challenger and Fast Mover in the Maturity/Feature Play quadrant. GigaOm recognized three strengths: * Breadth of asset domains, covering hardware, software, databases, networks, and cloud components, with cloud coverage expanded in 2025. * Lifecycle Management, using automation and smart tags to track assets from procurement to disposal with real-time visibility, cost control, and compliance. * Compliance Management, with health rules and smart tags that trigger asset actions, plus automated compliance checks and proactive alerts for license expirations, noncompliance risks, and renewals. What InvGate's placement means Two independent evaluations, each with its own vendor pool and scoring criteria, arrived at the same read: InvGate is a Challenger with strong, well-rounded capabilities and a Fast Mover trajectory in both service management and asset management. For teams evaluating either category, that consistency is the useful signal. The strengths GigaOm named - depth in the core disciplines of each product, delivered through automation and a no-code approach teams can operate themselves - describe a platform that covers day-to-day work without heavy professional services to get there. Because InvGate Service Management and InvGate Asset Management can run independently or as an integrated suite, the placement in both categories means a buyer can adopt one product for an immediate need and extend to the other as requirements grow.

With a composite score of 9.1, InvGate has been named a 2026 Data Quadrant ITSM Champion due to exceptional user satisfaction, innovation, and service experience. This recognition is based entirely on real user feedback. Rankings are determined by authentic end-user reviews evaluating product capabilities, vendor performance, and overall customer experience. "It's one thing to claim your tool is intuitive, but it's another to have the market validate it with a +97 Net Emotional Footprint. I've always believed software should reduce cognitive load, not add to it. This recognition feels great, but more importantly, it confirms that we're building software that truly empowers teams." Ariel Gesto, CEO and Co-Founder at InvGate InvGate's performance in the Midmarket ITSM report InvGate Service Management achieved a 9.1 composite score, but more importantly, it delivered exceptional customer experience metrics: * 96% Likelihood to recommend * 100% Plan to renew * 83% Satisfaction of cost relative to value * +97 Net Emotional Footprint The Net Emotional Footprint measures how users feel about their relationship with the vendor - including trust, fairness, and partnership. A +97 score signals extremely strong customer sentiment. InvGate also earned above-average marks across core ITSM capabilities: * End-user self-service - 89% * Service Catalog - 89% * Integrated Knowledge Management - 87% * Multi-device capability - 86% * Multi-site functionality - 85% On the vendor performance side, customers highlighted: * Ease of IT administration - 92% * Ease of implementation - 90% * Vendor support - 89% * Usability and intuitiveness - 87% * Product strategy & rate of improvement - 85% These results reflect consistent strength across product experience, implementation speed, usability, and long-term value. Why this matters to IT teams Midmarket IT teams operate under pressure: limited resources, growing service demands, and increasing expectations from the business. Recognition in this report signals that InvGate Service Management delivers where it matters most: * Fast time to value through ease of implementation. * Lower operational overhead with intuitive administration. * Stronger user adoption driven by self-service and usability. * Vendor partnership you can rely on, reflected in high renewal intent. The +97 Net Emotional Footprint is particularly telling. ITSM tools are often associated with complexity and "tool fatigue." A score this high indicates that teams aren't just using the platform - they feel positively about working with it. For organizations looking to modernize IT without adding friction, this validation reduces risk and reinforces confidence in the platform. InvGate Service Management ITSM software 4.8 Gartner | The SoftwareReviews' Midmarket ITSM report The SoftwareReviews Data Quadrant evaluates ITSM software based entirely on feedback from verified users. Products are scored across two dimensions: * Product features and capabilities. * Vendor relationship and customer experience. These dimensions combine into a composite score that determines placement within the quadrant. Champions represent top-performing solutions with strong customer satisfaction and product execution. The Midmarket ITSM category focuses specifically on tools designed to help organizations align IT services with business objectives, improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enable continual service improvement - without the complexity typically associated with large enterprise platforms.
