Legal Career Pathways in Pakistan - Part - II. The LUMS Law Alumni Association (LLAA) invites students and young lawyers to Legal Career Pathways in Pakistan: Part II, a panel discussion on 24 July 2026 at 5:00 PM. This second session brings together LUMS Law alumni working in legal technology and AI, startup and technology law, in-house counsel roles, corporate advisory, and public sector regulation. Their careers have taken different routes: private practice, international development organizations, corporate legal departments, regulatory bodies, and legal tech ventures they built themselves. The panellists will discuss what these paths involve in practice, including the trade-offs each one carries. They will speak about the choices that shaped their own careers, and about how technology is changing what the profession expects of young lawyers. Students and young lawyers can expect practical advice on choosing a direction after law school, building commercial awareness, forming professional networks, and finding internships and mentors. A brief introduction of the panellists follows: Zafar Ali Habib (Class of 2014) Zafar Ali Habib is a graduate of the LUMS Law Class of 2014. He began his professional career as a Judicial Law Clerk and later worked with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). He subsequently shifted his focus to technology and founded Firefly Tech Solutions, a software development company with a specialized focus on legal tech solutions and AI-driven systems. He is also the founder of AI Attorney, a pioneering legal tech platform in Pakistan. As a legal technology professional, Zafar works with law firms, corporate legal departments, and organizations to design and implement innovative legal technology solutions that improve legal research, operational efficiency, and access to legal information. Fatima Wahla (Class of 2018) Fatima Wahla is a fractional legal counsel in the tech and startup space, working remotely with companies across multiple jurisdictions. She handles compliance, deal structuring, and the commercials that come with it - everything from term sheets to closing, with a side of crisis management (client induced or otherwise). Maira Rashid (Class of 2021) Maira works as an in-house counsel at the Jeeny Group, a ride-hailing company with operational markets in KSA, Jordan, UAE, and Pakistan. She specialises in company law, with extensive experience in corporate incorporations, structuring and restructuring, ensuring ongoing statutory and regulatory compliance, and advising boards and management on corporate governance frameworks, directors' duties, shareholder matters, and internal policies. She holds a BA-LLB (Honours) with a minor in Psychology from LUMS, graduating with distinction. Prior to joining Jeeny, Maira worked at Axis Law Chambers, where she handled matters across a wide range of areas, including regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisitions, foreign investment, labour law, competition law, intellectual property law, and other commercial laws, providing key support on both transactional and advisory work for clients across various industry sectors. Kehar Khan (Class of 2022) Kehar is a Management Executive (Legal) at the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), where he advises on corporate and securities law and represents the Commission before judicial forums in regulatory and enforcement matters. A graduate of LUMS, he has experience in litigation, corporate regulation, and public sector legal practice. Here is the recording of this session.
