Lendi Group expands into new Sydney HQ. By Reporter 06 July 2026 As Lendi Group continues its evolution as a fintech company, the group has moved to a new head office in one of Sydney's most significant industrial sites. Lendi Group, the fintech company that owns major brokerage brand Aussie, has moved into new headquarters in Sydney, taking up 3,054 square metres across three floors at Bay 14 South Eveleigh. The new office is now the home of the group's NSW-based team members, creating a dedicated hub to bring together brokers, buyer's agents, and partners and welcome team members travelling to NSW from across the country. Designed by Hammond Studio and True Fit, the modern workplace at Bay 14 integrates offices within the site's existing heritage architecture and provides dedicated broker and associate areas featuring distinct work zones, specialised training spaces, as well as private and collaborative working spaces and a multi-function event space. The office also has media production capabilities, including a dedicated podcast and creative studio. Located within South Eveleigh's heritage Locomotive Workshop precinct, the headquarters are just opposite the headquarters of one of the group's main shareholders, the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA). Lendi Group new CEO and co-founder Sebastian Watkins said the move marked a major milestone as the business enters its next stage of growth and accelerates into becoming an AI-native company. "When Dave and I started Lendi 13 years ago, it was four of us in a tiny office off a laneway in Pyrmont, basically a garage. And somehow, that little space helped shape the culture we're still proud of today," he said. "In our first year, Lendi settled $50 million in home loans. Now, we do that every few hours. That says a lot about how far we've come, and it's exactly why this chapter matters. Bay 14 reflects the scale of the business we've become and the ambition of where we're heading next." Watkins said Bay 14 had been built to support Lendi Group's next stage of growth and its expanding Find, Buy, Own ecosystem. "We've built this space around performance, connection and scale, with dedicated training and event capability, technology-enabled spaces, and the kind of environment that supports new ways of working as we deepen our focus on AI and continue expanding our Find, Buy, Own ecosystem," the CEO said. "I'm looking forward to welcoming our team, brokers and partners to Bay 14." Kate Beech, general manager of asset management at property group Mirvac, said: "Lendi Group's new headquarters brings a technology-led workplace into the Locomotive Workshop while respecting the character and history of the site. "We're pleased to welcome Lendi Group to the precinct and see the space support collaboration, growth and connection across its team and wider network." Lendi taps Mantel Group for mongodb-powered AI transformation. 27 Mar 2026 3 mins Utilising tech from MongoDB and AWS. Financial services outfit, Lendi Group has called on Mantel Group to provide a modernised digital foundation for AI, powered by technology from MongoDB and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Working with its partners, Lendi Group shifted away from legacy infrastructure and built an operational data layer, which has paved the way for the platform's AI-enabled services. The need for digital transformation became prevalent following its merger with Aussie Home Loans, which reached completion in 2021. As a result of this, Lendi Group inherited fragmented data infrastructure, which had ballooned to over 500 deployable components built on a combination of relational and non-relational databases. According to MongoDB, the ageing architecture was complex, time-consuming, and expensive to maintain. On top of this, the previous set up could not provide the consistency and agility needed for AI services. As it also deals with mortgage broking, the solution needed to meet high security and privacy compliance standards. In the first week of the project, Lendi Group chose MongoDB Atlas to power its infrastructure after seeing it met four key requirements. This included the ability to manage complex data structures; the inclusion of AI native features like MongoDB Vector Search to prototype and iterate on applications; native horizontal sharding for scaling capabilities; and the inclusion of critical, built-in security. "There simply wasn't another option that offered the flexibility of the document model and the power of MongoDB's integrated, AI-ready data platform," said Lendi Group senior AI systems engineer Will Hargan. As a part of this process, Mantel Group was selected to act as a thought leadership partner for AI architecture. Over 16 weeks, Mantel Group's integrated team worked with Lendi Group to provide the foundation for their AI-focused digital transformation. This approach included building a scalable, production-ready blueprint for building AI agents on AWS, which involved the implementation of a new data platform, creating a core framework for agentic AI, automating refinance processes, and designing an intelligent communications engine. In addition to Mantel Group and AWS, Databricks was also involved with the initiative as an analytics partner. The project resulted in a 40 per cent increase in developer velocity, according to MongoDB, with it able to automate time-consuming, low value tasks in the mortgage process, like document checks, follow-ups, and rate monitoring. "MongoDB has given us operational simplicity and incredible developer velocity for AI features. The successful launch of Lendi Guardian demonstrates the speed and quality of what we're able to do now," said Lendi Group chief technology officer Devesh Maheshwari. With the project complete, Lendi Group is planning to move towards an "elastic workforce", with AI agents handling routine processes so human brokers can focus on high-value empathy, complex structuring, and trust. Sebastian Watkins named next CEO of Lendi Group. The major brokerage and fintech brand has announced that it has appointed Sebastian Watkins as its new CEO, starting 1 January 2026. Watkins has been appointed CEO of Australian fintech platform and brokerage group Lendi Group, effective from the beginning of next year. Watkins - who co-founded Lendi Group in 2013 has been chief operating officer since Lendi Group's acquisition of major brokerage brand Aussie in 2021. He will succeed co-founder David Hyman on 1 January 2026. Hyman will remain as a director on the Lendi Group board and as special adviser focused on driving the group's artificial intelligence (AI) and growth strategy. According to Lendi Group, Watkins has "been effectively acting as CEO since March 2025" as part of the group's succession planning and shift to become a property ecosystem under Find.Buy.Own, while Hyman has been primarily focused on the group's AI-native transformation. Commenting on the change, outgoing CEO Hyman said: "After 13 years building Lendi Group, I've decided to transition from my current CEO role, while remaining on the board focusing on priority areas where I can add the most value to the business. "Sebastian (Bas) is a world-class leader and a true champion for customers and broker success. Bas has been integral to the business since the beginning, has the depth of experience to lead this business and is the right leader to drive this next chapter. He is backed by a very strong executive team and has the full support of the board. "In an ongoing board capacity, and as the largest non-institutional shareholder, I will continue to fully support the business, prioritising the growth, AI and innovation agenda, while also exploring new ventures in 2026." Speaking of his new appointment, the incoming CEO said: "Dave made the decision for this shift from a position of strength for the Lendi business, and I'm grateful to continue working alongside him as a partner and board member. As a long term committed shareholder myself and with Dave continuing on our board, we have continuity and a strong and deeply experienced advocate focused on our future and enhancing value. "As CEO, my focus now will be delivering for customers and brokers, scaling Find, Buy, Own to its full potential, and building on the momentum in the business. I'm proud to lead Lendi Group into its next chapter with our people, brokers, lending and product partners, and the support of an exceptional leadership team." Lendi Group chair Ellie Comerford added: "This leadership transition reflects thoughtful succession planning and the strength of the successful founding partnership built by David and Sebastian over the last decade. Sebastian has proven himself as an outstanding leader through this period, and David's continued involvement as a member of the board ensures we retain his strategic vision and AI expertise as we scale. "The board has full confidence in Sebastian and the executive team to deliver on our growth ambitions." The evolving Lendi Group strategy The change in leadership comes as Lendi Group adjusts its strategy. Earlier this year, the group announced that it was making Aussie its main brokerage brand - and shifting it from a linear mortgage broking business to a platform that helps Australians 'Find, Buy and Own' property. According to the group, the move will provide borrowers with a 'one-stop shop' for their home buying needs: * FIND - Aussie Buyer's Agents and Aussie Homes will help borrowers look for property, supported by listings from referral partner real estate agents using Aussie for Agents. * BUY - Aussie Brokers will provide financing, white label lending and insurance services. * OWN - Aussie Conveyancing will provide legal support in property transactions, and customers will be able to access products such as Live Equity and Seller Assist (where brokers can offer a free comparison service connecting the customer with agents to match their needs. These leads are then distributed to agents via the Aussie for Agents platform, allowing for direct agent-customer interactions for property appraisals). As part of the evolution for Aussie, stores will evolve from a linear broking experience to "property hubs" that will integrate core mortgage broker expertise with Aussie Buyer's Agents and Conveyancing. Meanwhile, Lendi will continue to operate as a digital mortgage brokerage. However, it will streamline down to having fewer than 50 salaried brokers (called home loan specialists), with the majority having moved across to Aussie.
