Verus ION: AI unifies intelligence for public safety. 2h ago · 0:00 listen · Source: The Manila Times Summary. LEO Technologies has launched Verus ION, a new AI-powered solution for corrections and public safety agencies. This system automatically connects information from various sources like communications, voice recognition, biometrics, and video. The goal is to unify intelligence that is often scattered across different systems. Steven Harpe, Chief Product and Technology Officer at LEO Technologies, notes that investigators typically manually gather information from many separate data sources. Verus ION aims to transform these disconnected sources into a single, actionable intelligence layer. Elliott Broidy states that this automatic delivery of intelligence allows staff to focus on preventing dangerous behaviors. The system is designed to help preempt crime or self-harm, solve investigations faster, and improve safety and efficiency. This could mean a more proactive approach to public safety and correctional facility management. This is an AI-generated audio summary. Always check the original source for complete reporting.
LEO Technologies launched Verus ION, an agentic AI-powered intelligence and investigative solution for corrections and public safety agencies. The product automatically correlates information from communications, voice recognition, biometrics, video, and legacy systems into a unified platform. Verus ION addresses challenges faced by corrections agencies dealing with staffing shortages and expanding digital information volumes. The system analyses data from multiple sources simultaneously, enabling staff to identify and prevent dangerous behaviours before they occur rather than investigating incidents after the fact. The platform builds on LEO Technologies' existing intelligence tools, including Verus AI for communications analysis, Verus Voice AI for voice identification, and Verus Vision AI for video intelligence. It incorporates corrections-specific data standards and ontologies tailored to the sector. Verus ION is available immediately for new and existing customers.
LEO Technologies has launched Verus Vision AI, an artificial intelligence video intelligence solution designed for correctional facilities. The platform transforms existing camera infrastructure into operational intelligence by continuously analysing live video streams to identify developing risks such as crowd formation, assaults, falls, and unauthorised movement. The system provides real-time alerts to correctional professionals and uses facial recognition and gait analysis to identify perpetrators. It also automates inmate counting, which typically occurs 5 to 11 times daily, freeing staff time for other duties. Verus Vision AI supports compliance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act by identifying concerning behaviours and preserving evidence. The platform includes safeguards ensuring alerts are reviewed by qualified professionals before action is taken. The solution is available immediately to new and existing LEO Technologies customers.
LEO Technologies launches Verus Voice AI, giving corrections agencies a defensible way to stop Personal Identification Number (PIN) abuse in real time. AUSTIN, Texas, July 27, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - Today, LEO Technologies, launched Verus Voice AI, a new product within its Verus AI platform that converts inmate voice communications into actionable intelligence to detect inmates engaging in Personal Identification Number (PIN) fraud, prevent abuse, and improve facilities' situational awareness in real time. Built on our proprietary LLM system, it identifies these violations immediately and gives correction officers the tools they..." Verus Voice AI uses cutting edge agentic AI technology to compile advanced voice biometrics and quickly recognize PIN abuse, identity fraud and unauthorized communications across large volumes of inmate call data. Verus Voice AI includes built-in safeguards to ensure findings are reviewed by qualified personnel before action is taken, surfacing alerts to investigators and facility staff as events occur and preserving human oversight and accountability throughout the system. "Personal identification codes and phones can be shared, coerced, or swapped amongst inmates, but a voice can't be," said Tim Anderson, SVP, Product Technology Officer at LEO Technologies. "Our agentic AI continuously builds and monitors identities across every call, so we're not relying on someone at a keyboard trying to catch exceptions across hundreds of calls a day." Verus Voice AI is built to identify PIN abuse by analyzing the voice on the call rather than the PIN used to place it. Monitored communications are a critical, but historically underutilized source of operational intelligence. A potential PIN violation surfaced by Verus Voice AI can be immediately cross-referenced against an individual's full history within the facility, using the broader Verus AI platform, giving staff complete context before they act. "PIN abuse has been one of the hardest problems to solve in corrections, and for years, the tools to stop it have been too expensive and too unreliable to keep up with the demands of a busy facility," said Steven Harpe, Chief Product and Technology Officer at LEO Technologies. "Verus Voice AI changes that. Built on our proprietary LLM system, it identifies these violations immediately and gives correction officers the tools they need to act." Verus Voice AI is available now to new and existing LEO Technologies customers. Agencies interested in a demonstration can request one at leotechnologies.com. Photo Credit: Federal Bureau of Prisons. WASHINGTON - Leo Technologies has been awarded a five-year contract valued at more than $106 million by the Federal Bureau of Prisons to provide AI-enabled translation and transcription services supporting authorized inmate communications monitoring and investigative operations. The award follows a broader modernization effort by the Bureau of Prisons to expand the use of artificial intelligence, natural language processing and advanced analytics across its correctional facilities. In a 2025 request for information, the agency outlined plans to improve monitoring and analysis of inmate phone calls, electronic messaging and other communications across its 120 institutions. According to the request, the BOP sought technology capable of automatically transcribing, translating and analyzing communications to help identify criminal activity, including gang coordination, contraband smuggling, terrorism, financial fraud and human trafficking. The agency also emphasized the need for multilingual processing, risk-based scoring, link analysis tools and integration with existing intelligence systems. Under the new contract, Leo Technologies will deploy its Verus platform to provide multilingual transcription, translation, search and analytical capabilities across authorized communications environments. The platform is intended to support the identification of actionable intelligence tied to institutional security threats, criminal coordination, contraband trafficking, gang activity, wellness and suicide indicators, and other high-risk behaviors. The company said Verus is currently deployed in more than 250 correctional facilities nationwide and has processed more than 4.2 billion minutes of inmate communications in support of investigative and operational missions.
