Case study: A Cybersecurity Awareness eLearning Experience for the retail sector. A collaborative initiative by METRO and Code.Hub. Executive Summary In an era of escalating digital threats, METRO partnered with Code.Hub to design and develop a customized Cybersecurity Awareness eLearning program for its workforce. This initiative was built around a microlearning framework, utilizing short-form, scenario-based learning experiences, tailored to the day-to-day realities of the retail sector. By focusing on practical relevance and learner engagement, the program helped transform cybersecurity training into a more engaging and operationally aligned learning experience across the organization. The Project Objective The objective was to establish practical and secure, everyday digital habits for a diverse and distributed workforce. METRO required a solution that was engaging, easy to consume and integrated into the professional routine of its people. The program needed to deliver cybersecurity awareness in a way that felt relevant and accessible to employees with varying levels of technical familiarity. The Code.Hub Solution: Customized eLearning Experience Design Code.Hub designed a customized eLearning experience centered on the principles of Microlearning and scenario-based learning methodologies. The program was structured to deliver specialized knowledge in digestible formats: * 20 Targeted Microlearning Modules: Each lesson focused on a specific cybersecurity topic, ensuring the content is clear and easy to retain. * 5 Practical Scenarios: These interactive modules placed the learners in realistic, retail-specific situations, requiring them to make informed cybersecurity decisions in real-time, reinforcing the application of secure digital behaviors in everyday workplace situations. * Accessible Technical Language: By stripping away advanced technical jargon, the content remained clear, relevant and accessible for all staff members, regardless of their technical familiarity. Project Outcomes The program successfully delivered cybersecurity awareness training to 1970 employees through a scalable and accessible digital learning experience tailored to the retail environment. Beyond the initial rollout, the modules continue to be available through the organization's LMS digital library, extending the reach and long-term value. By combining short-form learning with realistic workplace scenarios, the initiative enabled employees to complete training more flexibly within the flow of their daily responsibilities, while reinforcing practical and security-conscious digital behaviors across the organization. Client Perspective "Our collaboration with Code.Hub on the development of cybersecurity eLearning training reinforced their position as a trusted partner. Throughout every stage of the project, they demonstrated professionalism, consistency, high-quality delivery, and a genuine understanding of our needs, resulting in a solution that delivered real value to our organization while fully addressing the regulatory requirements of the Directive (EU) 2022/2555 - NIS2." Conclusion This project demonstrates that effective cybersecurity awareness training depends not only on the information being delivered, but on creating learning experiences that employees find practical, easy to navigate and apply in their day-to-day work environments. Leveraging its L&D expertise, Code.Hub partnered with METRO to deliver a scalable cybersecurity awareness program aligned with the realities and needs of a retail workforce.
Metro, trading at €5.82, is drawing investor attention after recent share price momentum, with a 4.68% gain over 90 days and 1.75% year-to-date return. The stock's estimated intrinsic value suggests approximately 59% upside potential. The German wholesaler trades at a price-to-sales ratio of 0.1x, significantly below both peer average of 0.2x and the European Consumer Retailing industry average of 0.4x. This represents a steep discount on Metro's €32.45 billion revenue. A discounted cash flow model estimates future value at €14.17 per share, indicating potential undervaluation. However, risks remain, including Metro's €218 million loss and questions about whether the low P/S ratio reflects concerns about its wholesale business model rather than genuine value.
With the acquisition of GVS Group, METRO is strengthening its market position in system gastronomy and accelerating growth in the food service distribution (FSD).
Czech billionaire Daniel Křetínský, through his investment group EPCG, has taken control of Metro AG by acquiring a controlling stake. EPCG, already holding 49.9%, launched a public offer in March to buy remaining shares at a premium of €5.33 per share, totaling approximately CZK 50 billion. Metro's shares have been delisted from the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. Křetínský supports the current management and has broader retail ambitions, including stakes in Casino, FNAC Darty, and Unieuro.
Daniel Křetínský and Patrik Tkáč's EP Global Commerce plans to delist Metro AG from the stock exchange and acquire all remaining shares. EPGC currently holds 49.99% of Metro's shares and offers €5.33 per share, a 38.98% premium over the February 4 closing price. The delisting aims to support Metro's long-term strategy and profitability. Major shareholders BC Equities and BeisheimHolding, owning 24.99%, will not sell their shares in the current tender.
