Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino opens new hospitality space.

Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino opens new hospitality space. The new hospitality space Vinyl Room has opened on the rooftop of Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. It features Asian-inspired cuisine, music-themed cocktails, and panoramic views of the Las Vegas Strip. The 15,000-square-foot destination features three main spaces: the 78 Lounge, the 45 Dining Room and the 33 Members Room. Designed by Blueprint Studio, Vinyl Room was created by Live Nation and MGM Resorts. "Vinyl Room is built around music first," said Kurt Melien, president of Live Nation Las Vegas. "Every evening is thoughtfully curated to create a listening experience that brings people together, making Vinyl Room a destination where great music, great food and unforgettable views come together." Vinyl Room's culinary programme includes dishes such as sushi tots, chili crunch chicken wings, king crab head dumplings and 42-ounce wagyu tomahawk steaks. "We built the menu around bold flavour, high-quality ingredients and dishes that surprise you," said Andy Yates, head of food and beverage at Live Nation. "Dining at Vinyl Room is designed to mirror the experience of listening to a vinyl record from front to back, encouraging guests to share dishes and explore the menu together." Vinyl Room was designed with music at the forefront and features acoustically tuned spaces and a curated vinyl collection. "The experience starts with music," said David Codiga, president of Blueprint Studio. "We approached the project as a listening room inspired by the iconic Japanese hi-fi lounges of the 1970s, then thoughtfully layered in a dining and cocktail program that complements, rather than competes with, the music."

Nevada's money laundering scandals have quieted, but that doesn't mean the problems have been solved.

Nevada's money laundering scandals have quieted, but that doesn't mean the problems have been solved. Monday, August 10, 2026 7:52 PM * Brian Joseph, Casino Reports Email, LinkedIn, and more No regulatory issue today looms larger for Las Vegas casinos than anti-money laundering. Nevada regulators have fined five of gaming's biggest brands - Genting Berhad, MGM, Wynn, Caesars, and The Venetian - millions of dollars over the last two years for AML violations at Strip properties. Every Nevada Gaming Control Board and Nevada Gaming Commission meeting these days seems to bring another speech about the need to make AML a priority, even as casino executives profusely apologize and pledge their commitment to compliance. "We know that this entire matter has been a stain on the state and we're embarrassed that we're part of it," Caesars CEO Tom Reeg said last year.

DRA's CEO marks 1 year in role, eyes continued growth.

DRA's CEO marks 1 year in role, eyes continued growth. Anthony Williams The nonprofit license holder for Dubuque's casinos this month completed its first year under the leadership of President and CEO Anthony Williams. "He's the right person for the right time," Dubuque Mayor Brad Cavanagh said. Since Williams took the reins of the DRA and Q Casino + Resort in July 2025, the DRA has overseen the completion of The Key Hotel Dubuque, Lock 11 Rooftop Restaurant and Bar and Back Waters Amp on Chaplain Schmitt Island. "Change at the top of any organization is going to create uncertainty, but our team met that moment with steadiness, launching three new organization-defining amenities while adjusting to a new CEO," said Williams, who joined the DRA after serving as the senior vice president of operations strategy/QE development for MGM Resorts International. Nicole Gantz joined the DRA executive board in 2022. She grew up in The Point and got a whole new look at her old neighborhood with the opening of the new restaurant. "Anthony gave me a tour of Lock 11 a couple weeks before we opened," Gantz said. "It was the first time I was ever able to see The Point neighborhood through a totally different perspective." She was struck by the nostalgia and thrill of seeing the bluffs surrounding the Mississippi River, Lock and Dam No. 11 and the neighborhood below. "When (Williams) joined us, we had a lot of projects going on," Gantz said. "He used his strong background at MGM in hospitality, gaming and food and beverage to pull it all together for us." Collaborative strategy. Williams emphasizes communication in steering the DRA. He met with board members one-on-one when he started in his role and is in the process of doing so again. "As a CEO of an organization, the board of directors can't effectively govern if they don't know you and if they don't understand the vision and direction of the organization," Williams said. He wants people within the organization and on the board to feel they can express concerns and share ideas in an open environment. "Anthony is incredibly collaborative," Cavanagh said. Williams "constantly" reaches out to the board and connects with city government leaders, Cavanagh said. Gantz appreciates that Williams values all the board members' backgrounds and the unique insights they have. "I have a marketing background, and he often reaches out to me about marketing issues," Gantz said. "A few meetings later, he'll reiterate something that he took to heart." Kevin Lynch joined the board in 2006 and serves as the treasurer. He met with Williams several times during his first year, both in one-on-one meetings and group gatherings. "He's been excellent at keeping communication going with board members and keeping everybody up to speed," Lynch said. Eye on the future. Williams' major priorities for the next year include launching a strategic plan, creating a plan for continued investment into Chaplain Schmitt Island and expanding on the integration of the resort. "I learned that organizations that win long term are not the ones who move fastest," Williams said. The new strategic plan, set to be initiated in 2027, will help guide the DRA from quarter to quarter and year to year, Williams said. He is working with the board to build that plan. "There are a lot of things I think could be done on Schmitt Island that would be good for the entire community," Lynch said. The next phase of the Chaplain Schmitt Island development plan takes aim at the south half of the island. "We cannot just sit back and rest on laurels," Lynch said. DRA leaders are also keeping an eye on future competition, as officials with Cedar Crossing Casino in Cedar Rapids announced last week that the new facility will open in mid-November. "We need to be constantly reinventing ourselves and adding new things to get people down there," Lynch said of Schmitt Island. "Not just to the casino, but (attracting) families, too, for various activities." The DRA is also focused on continuing to develop amenities into a fully integrated resort. "All the back-end systems need to talk and communicate because we need to be one integrated experience, so we establish a smooth customer journey," Williams said. Filling leadership gaps. Another of Williams' priorities for the year is filling out the DRA's leadership team. Q Casino's chief operating and financial officer and head of human resources resigned this year. The casino's director of hotel operations and rooms division manager also left the organization. Williams declined to comment on the nature of those departures. Cavanagh said the board received plenty of information on the departures and he is not concerned with the long-term health of the organization. He declined to comment on the specific reasons for the personnel changes. "Transitions are going to happen for all kinds of reasons," he said. "I'm confident in Anthony and the team that he has now and will continue to put together."

Digital growth and Las Vegas performance propel MGM's strong second quarter results.

Digital growth and Las Vegas performance propel MGM's strong second quarter results. July 30, 2026 MGM achieves solid financial performance in Q2 2026. MGM delivered robust second-quarter results for the period ending June 30, with consolidated revenues rising by 1% compared to the previous year, reaching $4.5 billion. This performance came amidst discussions about a potential takeover bid by Barry Diller's People Inc. Digital division drives revenue growth. The standout contributor to MGM's growth was the MGM Digital division, which includes LeoVegas but excludes BetMGM, whose results are reported separately. This segment saw revenues climb 20% to $196 million. However, despite the revenue increase, the segment's adjusted EBITDAR loss expanded from $26 million to $31 million. Las Vegas Strip Resorts continue to support core business. Operations at MGM's Las Vegas Strip Resorts remain a key pillar, with revenues increasing 3% to $2.2 billion. This growth was supported by higher hotel occupancy rates and average daily room rates, along with better performances in casino gaming and entertainment across flagship resorts. The Las Vegas properties also contributed significantly to MGM's revenue in the prior quarter ending March 31. Regional and Macau segments see mixed results. Outside Las Vegas, MGM's Regional Operations experienced a 4% decline in revenues to $924 million, primarily due to softening casino income, although this was partially balanced by growth in non-gaming revenue channels. In Macau, MGM China reported steady year-over-year revenue at $1.1 billion, but adjusted EBITDAR fell by 15% to $257 million. Detailed revenue breakdown. Across the entire group, casino revenues rose 2%, totaling $2.38 billion, while rooms revenue dipped slightly by 1% to $849.1 million. Food and beverage sales increased 3% to $802.3 million, whereas combined entertainment, retail, and other revenue streams declined 5% to $416.3 million. Improved profitability despite higher losses in Digital segment. MGM managed to reduce operating costs by 1%, helping operating profits soar 24% year-over-year to $503.6 million. Additionally, non-operating expenses plummeted by 67%, resulting in a remarkable 209% increase in pre-tax profits, which reached $413.5 million. Net income jumps substantially. After accounting for $90.7 million in income taxes, MGM's net profit surged by 173% compared with the same quarter last year, hitting $322.8 million. When factoring in net profit attributable to MGM shareholders after non-controlling interests, the figure dramatically grew by 497% to $292.4 million. CEO highlights portfolio strength and project updates. MGM CEO Bill Hornbuckle praised the company's diverse portfolio, citing the record consolidated revenue and strong performances across key segments including Las Vegas Strip Resorts, Regional Operations, and MGM Digital. He emphasized that these factors collectively drove the company's success during the quarter. Hornbuckle also provided an update on MGM Osaka, the company's integrated resort under development in Japan, confirming the project remains on track for opening in 2030. Significant progress has been made on construction milestones, with over 60% of foundation piles completed and the main structure now taking shape through ongoing concrete and steel work. Other corporate updates. In other company news, MGM has extended its partnership with Major League Baseball, continuing to strengthen its presence in sports-related ventures.
