Masimo, a subsidiary of Danaher (NYSE:DHR), has received US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for AI-enabled atrial fibrillation (AFib) detection in its Radius VSM wearable monitor. The feature uses artificial intelligence to flag potential AFib episodes in patients using Masimo's hospital-grade wireless device. It is intended for acute care settings. The clearance adds a software-driven function to Danaher's diagnostics portfolio, which spans research labs, clinical settings, and industrial customers. It moves Masimo closer to Cepheid and Leica Biosystems in recurring software and monitoring workflows, as Danaher competes with Abbott and Thermo Fisher for hospital shelf space. Turning the feature into earnings will depend on adoption and integration with hospital IT systems.
Masimo, a Danaher company, has received US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for an atrial fibrillation (AFib) detection feature on its Radius VSM monitor. The feature joins its previously cleared, AI-enabled detection of opioid-induced respiratory depression (OIRD) under the smartSET platform. The AFib tool analyses pulse waveform data to spot rhythms suggestive of AFib, prompting clinicians to consider further ECG or telemetry checks. It does not replace ECG confirmation. In validation testing, sensitivity was 97% and specificity 100%. The OIRD capability tracks oxygen saturation, pulse rate, and perfusion index in real time, and sends escalating alerts. Masimo said it plans to expand the platform to address other clinical needs.

Masimo has received FDA 510(k) clearance for Root with LiDCO and the Masimo LiDCO Sensor, enabling continuous monitoring of oxygen delivery (DO₂). The device combines LiDCO hemodynamic monitoring, noninvasive haemoglobin measurement (SpHb), and Masimo SET pulse oximetry to provide beat-to-beat assessment of oxygen delivery. The technology addresses a historical limitation in DO₂ monitoring, which previously relied on intermittent laboratory measurements of haemoglobin. By integrating cardiac output, haemoglobin, and oxygen saturation into a single continuous measure, the system offers clinicians real-time visibility into oxygen transport during surgery and periods of physiological stress. Masimo, a Danaher company, develops pulse oximetry and patient monitoring solutions. The clearance expands the company's monitoring portfolio by providing an integrated view of oxygen delivery to tissue.
