Michigan Broadband Services

Michigan Broadband Services

Rural fiber internet and telecom services

Overview

Michigan Broadband Services provides fiber-based internet, voice, TV (TiVo-powered), and mobile services to residential and business customers in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and Northern Lower Peninsula. Its fiber internet uses fiber-to-the-home to deliver high-speed, unlimited data, with TV, landline, and security solutions available as monthly-bundled services. It differentiates itself by acting as both an ILEC in rural areas and a CLEC in busier towns, owning a construction company to build out fiber locally, and emphasizing local support and community giving. The goal is to expand broadband access to underserved rural areas, growing from around 12,000 fiber passes toward about 50,000 in coming years and expanding service lines through partnerships and acquisitions, such as UP Fiber’s purchase of AT&T’s Upper Peninsula assets.
