NC is providing a loan facility of up to ₩120.7 billion ($85 million) to its North American subsidiary Arenanet for development and marketing of Guild Wars 3. The loan runs from 31 January to 31 May 2028, with funds distributed in instalments based on development progress. Arenanet's finances are under pressure. The company recorded ₩87.7 billion in revenue and a ₩56.4 billion net loss last year. Revenue has fallen 34.2% over two years, whilst net losses grew from ₩4.6 billion in 2023 to ₩56.4 billion in 2025. Total equity stands at -₩77.3 billion. Guild Wars 3, unveiled at Summer Game Fest 2026, launches on PC, Steam, and PlayStation 5. A beta test is scheduled for the second half of 2027.
Westwood Global Investments has acquired a 5.09% stake in South Korean game developer NCSoft, according to a regulatory filing. The US-based asset manager holds 1,096,876 shares as of 2 June. Westwood had previously accumulated a 4.99% stake by 1 June before purchasing an additional 20,354 shares through on-market transactions the following day, pushing its ownership above the 5% disclosure threshold. The firm stated the investment was made for pure investment purposes.

Independent game studio emptyvessel has closed a Series A funding round led by NCSOFT, raising a total of $11 million, including a previous seed round. The funds will support the development of their game DEFECT, enabling single-player support and console expansion. The investment will also enhance the studio's remote work infrastructure. DEFECT is a cyberpunk, squad-based shooter set in a dystopian world, currently available for wishlisting on Steam and Epic Games Store.
