Navarino partners with Palo Alto Networks to launch cyber platform.

Navarino partners with Palo Alto Networks to launch cyber platform. Navarino has launched Ozora, a fully managed cyber security service designed for the maritime sector in conjunction with Palo Alto Networks. The new addition to the Navarino portfolio combines Palo Alto Networks' next-generation firewall (NGFW), SentinelOne endpoint detection and response (EDR), and a Security Operations Centre (SOC) into a single protection layer. Depending on vessel architecture and requirements, the platform can be deployed either as a Virtual Machine within Navarino's Infinity platform or as a hardware-based system using Palo Alto equipment. As an official Palo Alto Networks Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP), Navarino will manage the full technology stack, ensuring that vessel operators require no in-house Palo Alto expertise. The system is also designed to support compliance with International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) Unified Requirements E26 and E27, which are binding for vessels contracted after 1 July 2024. "In our experience working with thousands of vessels around the globe, thanks to the recent wave of digitalisation that high-bandwidth, low latency LEO services have enabled, the threat landscape at sea has changed," said Alex Giouzenis, Chief Technology Officer at Navarino. "The response has to match. That is why we have developed Ozora to provide one of the most advanced, made-for-maritime cyber security platforms available."

Goodwood Ship Management deploys Starlink

Goodwood Ship Management deploys Starlink. Goodwood Ship Management, a vessel management firm based in Singapore, has implemented Starlink satellite connectivity across its fleet through a partnership with Navarino. The shipping company is using a 500GB Starlink data plan with a pooled bandwidth option to distribute connectivity among its vessels. To manage the network, the fleet uses Navarino's Infinity platform, and its Spectrum service for IT asset inventory and remote management. The existing VSAT systems on the ship will remain on board to be used alongside the LEO link. "Starlink has completely changed the way we manage the IT support of our vessels," said Balasubramanian Balamurugan, senior IT manager at Goodwood. "We've gone from being able to resolve a few cases daily to closing almost all open cases each day - purely because of the improved connectivity." The company has used its new capabilities to introduce real-time syncing for its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, which manages business activities such as accounting and maintenance. Other improvements include cloud-based patch management and the live updating of government and charterer forms directly from the ships. The company has additionally rolled out Microsoft Teams for instant messaging and video calls between shore offices and the fleet. Technical training, which was previously provided through static documents, is now conducted via interactive video sessions. Approximately 50% of the Starlink bandwidth is allocated to crew members for their own personal communications.
