Nawy promotes Esmat to head of product for Nawy Shares. Egypt-based proptech company Nawy has promoted Khaled Esmat (above) to head of product for its real estate fractional investment branch Nawy Shares. Nawy Shares enables investors to purchase fractional ownership in real estate properties across Egypt, with a minimum entry point of just one share. Deposit amounts typically range from EGP20,000 ($426 U.S.) to EGP70,000, while installment plans range from EGP3,000 to EGP12,000 per month. Esmat joined Nawy as a senior product manager in July 2024 following nine years at Vodafone. In his new role, his responsibilities will include defining and executing product vision and strategy, managing end-to-end product delivery, enhancing user experience and value, driving data-informed decisions, and leading growth and monetization efforts, the company said. Founded in 2016, Nawy provides a comprehensive real estate ecosystem in Egypt, offering such services as property listings, mortgages brokerage and asset management. Nawy Shares was launched in 2024.
MFIC, Nawy Now raise EGP 443m in region's 1st ijarah-backed mortgage fund. Cairo - Mubasher: Misr for Financial Investments (MFIC), Synergy Capital's asset-management arm, in partnership with Nawy Now, has raised EGP 443 million for MFIC's first issuance fund in just 10 days. The Abandoned Village - Sand Invasion The oversubscribed fund marks Egypt and the Middle East's first transferable-assets fund focused on Ijarah-Mortgage portfolios, according to a press release. Moreover, the transaction reflects the first direct participation of qualified individual investors, who accounted for 22% of total subscriptions alongside institutions. Mohamed Seddiek, Founder of Synergy Capital and Managing Director of MFIC, said: "For the first time, mortgage-backed structures have become accessible to qualified individual investors, transforming what was once an institutional domain into a democratized investment class." For her part, Mona Shalaby, Co-Founder of Synergy Capital and Head of Investment Banking, commented: "This milestone demonstrates the power of collaboration, where innovative structuring meets regulatory openness." "It's a model for how Egypt can deliver transparent, high-value financial products that attract both institutional and retail capital," she added. Structured under the financial regulatory authority (FRA) decree number 98/2020, the fund introduces a framework that enhances liquidity and transparency. It also expands access to high-yield fixed-income products. Omar El Barouny, Managing Director of Nawy Now, emphasized: "This step strengthens Egypt's position as a financial innovation hub by creating a scalable model that enhances liquidity and delivers transparent high-yield opportunities to investors." Cornerstone investors include Al Baraka Bank - Egypt, Garhy Group for Investment & Development, Allianz Egypt, Misr Insurance Holding, Mohandes Insurance, and Suez Life Insurance. The milestone reflects strong investor confidence in structured finance and aligns with the FRA's vision to deepen Egypt's non-bank financial markets.

Egypt-based proptech marketplace Nawy has acquired a majority stake in Dubai-based SmartCrowd, marking its first foray into the Gulf region.
In May 2025, African startups raised $254 million, with Egypt leading the way. Egypt-based Nawy secured the largest deal, raising $75 million ($52 million in Series A and $23 million in debt). Other significant Egyptian deals included Tasaheel's $50 million bond issuance, Valu's $27 million, Thndr's $15 million, Sylndr's $15.7 million, and Money Fellows' $13 million. AURA, the only non-Egyptian startup, raised $15 million. Egypt accounted for 31% of 2025's total African startup investments.
