Neos Networks runs a 34,000-km UK fibre network that provides high-capacity connectivity to businesses and public sector clients. Its services include business internet, cloud connectivity, colocation, dark fibre, Ethernet, and WAN, delivered as dedicated, secure networks over its own infrastructure. Unlike many competitors, it focuses on large-scale, private-like connectivity across the UK, with emphasis on public sector, smart-city projects, and partnerships rather than selling hardware. Its goal is to enable digital transformation and public service upgrades by expanding fibre access and delivering reliable, scalable connectivity.

Neos Networks announces new partnership with Cornerstone. Tie-up will help to power UK sovereign edge cloud deployments. Neos Networks has announced a new partnership with Cornerstone to provide connectivity services to StonesThro, delivering connectivity to support distributed sovereign edge cloud infrastructure. StonesThro operates as a microscaler, distributing cloud and AI compute power to localised sites across the UK. By connecting these regional hubs into Neos' national, business dedicated network, StonesThro and Cornerstone can serve end users in key urban and industrial areas. This distributed model is already unlocking new capabilities for sectors where proximity is important for functionality, ranging from autonomous vehicles and large enterprises to local authorities and high-security sovereign software providers. The planned deployments will use Cornerstone's national infrastructure footprint, enabling distributed cloud nodes to be deployed at scale. For critical national infrastructure (CNI) customers handling sensitive data, the UK-sovereign model offers an alternative to international cloud providers. Last year, in partnership with Network Rail, Neos Networks announced Project Reach, a core fibre network deployment. Neos' UK-wide network will support Cornerstone and StonesThro in delivering secure connectivity to CNI operators, such as those in the rail industry, who often require domestic infrastructure. "Our national footprint is the ideal backbone for Cornerstone and StonesThro's edge AI cloud," said Lee Myall, CEO at Neos Networks. "Through our high-capacity connectivity, we are providing the UK-wide sovereign coverage, optionality and technical resilience required for high-security projects. We are proud to power the infrastructure that will enable the next generation of real-time applications and critical national services." Andy Bates, CISO at StonesThro, said, "Working with Neos Networks and Cornerstone allows us to develop and scale sovereign edge AI infrastructure with national reach. "Their position as the UK's largest B2B connectivity provider, alongside their access to the rail network through Project Reach, makes them the ideal collaborator to help us deliver a local solution for local people." Together, Neos Networks, Cornerstone and StonesThro are supporting the UK government's AI and data centre ambitions through an alternative infrastructure model. StonesThro's distributed approach moves AI capabilities closer to where they're needed and closer to where power is generated, addressing both the UK's data centre capacity shortage and grid transmission challenges.
Neos Networks collaborates with Cornerstone and StonesThro to power UK sovereign edge cloud deployments. By Neil Trim on May 5, 2026 Strategic collaboration enables distributed microscale AI compute with national, resilient connectivity for critical sectors. Neos Networks, the leading business connectivity provider, is working with Cornerstone, the UK's leading mobile infrastructure services provider, to provide connectivity services to UK "microscaler" StonesThro, delivering connectivity to support distributed sovereign edge cloud infrastructure. Unlike hyperscalers that centralise infrastructure in major data centres, StonesThro operates as a "microscaler", distributing cloud and AI compute power to localised sites across the UK. By connecting these regional hubs into Neos' national, business-dedicated network, StonesThro and Cornerstone can serve end users in key urban and industrial areas. This distributed model is already unlocking new capabilities for sectors where proximity is important for functionality, ranging from autonomous vehicles and large enterprises to local authorities and high-security sovereign software providers. Neos Networks teams up with Cornerstone for sovereign edge cloud deployment. Neos Networks is teaming up with Cornerstone to provide connectivity services to StonesThro, supporting its distributed sovereign edge cloud infrastructure. May 5, 2026 StonesThro is described as a microscaler which distributes cloud and AI compute power to localised sites across the UK, and the job involves plugging in the regional hubs into Neos' network. The idea is to provide a distributed model for sectors where proximity is important for functionality - such as autonomous vehicles, large enterprises, local authorities and high-security sovereign software providers. The planned deployments will enable distributed cloud nodes to be deployed at scale, we're told. This is presented as an alternative to international cloud providers for Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) customers handling sensitive data. Neos' network will support Cornerstone and StonesThro in delivering secure connectivity to CNI operators, an example of which is given as the rail industry. We are told the three firms are supporting the UK government's AI and data centre ambitions through an alternative infrastructure model, and StonesThro's "distributed approach moves AI capabilities closer to where they're needed and closer to where power is generated", as opposed to concentrating compute power in large southern data centres, states the release. We are proud to power the infrastructure that will enable the next generation of real-time applications and critical national services." Andy Bates, CISO at StonesThro added: "Working with Neos Networks and Cornerstone allows us to develop and scale sovereign edge AI infrastructure with national reach. Their position as the UK's largest B2B connectivity provider, alongside their access to the rail network through Project Reach, makes them the ideal collaborator to help us deliver a local solution for local people." Last year, Neos Networks worked with Network Rail on Project Reach, which it says is "the biggest core fibre network deployment in decades". The project was announced as a public-private partnership between government-run Network Rail, infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) provider Freshwave, and Neos. It involves deploying fibre and mobile networks along train routes - including tunnels - boosting coverage and capacity, and ultimately the plan is to deploy more than 5,000 km of fibre in total.
