OnBuy is a UK-based online marketplace that lets sellers list products and consumers buy them, without OnBuy selling its own stock. The platform earns revenue by charging sellers a listing fee, and it offers a cashback system where customers earn cashback on every purchase, usable on future orders or withdrawable. How it works: sellers list items across a wide range of categories; buyers browse the catalog, place orders, and receive cashback from each purchase. OnBuy distinguishes itself from many competitors by not holding its own inventory and by emphasizing fairness and transparency, including a Trustpilot rating of 4.3 and a model that directly supports the selling businesses on the platform. The company’s goal is to provide a trustworthy, transparent marketplace that enables a diverse set of small businesses and brands to reach customers while offering buyers ongoing cashback rewards.

Argos launches curated marketplace; international seller applications begin. Uğur Gürbes Editor August 4, 2026 Argos, one of the United Kingdom's largest multichannel retailers, has launched its curated online marketplace to expand its product range and meet more of customers' shopping needs through a single platform. While products from approximately 80 "Trusted Sellers" have been made available on the new platform, companies outside the United Kingdom will also be able to apply to become sellers. Selective seller model on the Argos marketplace. The new marketplace will not operate as an open and unregulated platform that all sellers can join directly. The company will evaluate sellers and products based on quality, product safety, and customer trust criteria. After the applications are reviewed, companies deemed suitable in terms of the contribution they can make to the platform will be contacted regarding the next steps. The seller application form requests information such as company details, annual turnover, product categories, the number of products planned to be offered for sale, average delivery time, and whether orders will be shipped from warehouses in the United Kingdom. Although shipping from a local warehouse is not stated as an official requirement, it is among the criteria that may be taken into consideration during the selection process. Scalable e-commerce model with Mirakl infrastructure. The marketplace's technology infrastructure is powered by global marketplace software provider Mirakl. The system allows third-party sellers to list their products through the retailer's website and mobile application. In addition to expanding product variety in its existing categories, Argos also plans to enter complementary new categories. The company's website receives more than 1 billion visits annually and offers more than 60,000 products. It was reported that approximately half of households in the United Kingdom shop from the brand every year, while its website is the third most visited retail platform in the country. Artificial intelligence, personalization, and delivery investments. The new marketplace forms part of the company's multi-year digital transformation program. As part of the program, investments are being made in artificial intelligence, personalization, the mobile application, automation, digital payment systems, and delivery services. The capacity of the mobile application is targeted to be nearly doubled by the end of the year. The company is also considering integrating its Fast Track delivery and Click & Collect network into the marketplace model. These services currently reach more than 90% of United Kingdom postcodes seven days a week. General Manager Graham Biggart said that customers want more choice, convenience, and secure shopping, and stated that the new platform would respond to these expectations. With its new model, Argos will compete with marketplaces such as Amazon, OnBuy, and JoyBuy. (Argos)

OnBuy.com, a European online marketplace, has launched in the Nordic region with investment from logistics company Posten Bring. The expansion targets retailers in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. Operating across 21 global markets, OnBuy identified the Nordics as a priority region after recording the world's highest conversion rates during its soft-launch period. The company reported 152% quarterly GMV growth across its first 12 European markets in 2025 and 374% growth in subsequent soft-launch markets. OnBuy positions itself as a retailer-focused platform that doesn't compete with sellers. The company maintains it never sells products directly, allowing retailers to control their own logistics whilst accessing millions of new customers. Posten Bring's investment will support platform expansion leveraging the logistics firm's Nordic e-commerce relationships.
OnBuy expands into the Nordics with Posten Bring investment as demand grows for marketplace alternatives. * Global marketplace OnBuy.com launches across Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland supported by investment from Posten Bring * Nordic launch follows strongest conversion performance of any OnBuy market during soft launch * Seller-recruitment drive underway with streamlined onboarding incentives LONDON, June 25, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - OnBuy.com, one of Europe's fastest growing online marketplaces has announced its launch across the Nordic region, supported by investment from logistics provider Posten Bring. The expansion will target retailer growth across Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. The company, which operates across 21 markets globally, has identified the Nordics as a priority region, having seen the strongest conversion rates globally during the region's soft launch period. The move comes as retailers across the region increasingly look beyond established marketplaces and local platforms to diversify how they reach customers. Cas Paton, CEO and Founder of OnBuy, said: "Business Chief see a clear gap in the Nordic market. There isn't one single marketplace model that meets the needs of every retailer across the region, and increasingly businesses don't want to be overly reliant on one route to market. That creates a real opportunity. Its focus is on giving retailers a straightforward way to grow, whether that's reaching customers locally or expanding internationally, without the complexity that often comes with it." Across Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland, retailers are increasingly using a mix of global marketplaces, regional platforms and category specialists to diversify their sales channels. OnBuy is positioning itself as an additional, scalable channel for retailers looking to build resilience and expand sales. The marketplace has reported 152% quarterly GMV growth across its first 12 European markets in 2025 and 374% growth in subsequent markets during soft launch, reflecting strong early demand as it expands internationally. Posten Bring's investment will support scaling adoption, given its strong footprint across Nordic eCommerce and long-standing relationships with retailers and merchants in the region. Cas Paton, CEO and Founder of OnBuy, commented: "Business Chief secured investment from Posten Bring in 2021 with Nordic expansion as a long-term ambition, but the timing had to be right. Since then, Business Chief has expanded across Europe and built the scale and capabilities needed to make a meaningful entry into the region, creating new opportunities for retailers. Business Chief succeed when its sellers succeed. Business Chief do not retail products ourselves, which means Business Chief never compete with the businesses that sell on its platform. Retailers retain control of their own operations, including their logistics and fulfilment arrangements, while accessing millions of new customers through OnBuy. This model is resonating with businesses and is reflected in the momentum Business Chief is seeing across Europe." As part of its launch phase, OnBuy is introducing a simplified onboarding approach designed to help retailers join the platform quickly, including a limited-time subscription incentive running through to 31 July. The company will introduce additional tools later this year to further support cross-border selling and open expansion into new markets. About OnBuy Founded in the UK in 2016 by Cas Paton, OnBuy is a leading European online marketplace and technology company. It operates a fair, transparent marketplace model, never competing with its sellers, while providing infrastructure designed to support international growth and multiple consumer brands. With millions of products across categories including electronics, home & garden, beauty and toys, and thousands of trusted sellers, OnBuy is expanding rapidly across Europe while building the underlying commerce platform that powers a growing portfolio of marketplace brands.
easyGroup is launching easyShop.com, an online marketplace set to go live in Q4 2026, marking its entry into mainstream retail. The platform will initially operate across 21 European countries in partnership with ecommerce company OnBuy. The marketplace will be powered by OnBuy's OnCommerce platform, which currently supports over 100 million products across Europe and has grown 86% over the past three years. Significant long-term investment has been committed to establish easyShop as a major new marketplace. Operating as a pure marketplace without inventory or logistics infrastructure, easyShop will offer retailers access to multiple European markets simultaneously. Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou said the venture represents a natural extension of the easy brand's focus on simplicity and value. Seller onboarding begins ahead of the consumer launch.
