Overview

Ontario Health is a government health authority responsible for coordinating, funding, and delivering health system services across Ontario. It brought together Health Shared Services Ontario into a single organization to streamline operations and support for health providers across the province. How it works: it plans and funds health services, standardizes administrative functions, and collaborates with hospitals, clinics, long-term care, and other providers to ensure Ontarians receive timely, high-quality care. Differentiation: as a public sector entity, it operates on government funding with a mandate to ensure universal access and system-wide coordination, rather than operating as a private or for-profit competitor. Goal: to ensure Ontarians get quality health care when and where they need it, by improving efficiency, coordination, and equitable access across the province.
