Pearl Abyss stocks drop 15% after Q2 earnings miss, Red Desert guidance cut.

Pearl Abyss stocks drop 15% after Q2 earnings miss, Red Desert guidance cut. 2026-08-16 13:26:49 Key takeaways. * Pearl Abyss stock fell 15.31% on May 14 following Q2 earnings miss announced May 11. * Pearl Abyss reported Q2 revenue of 192.6 billion won, missing consensus estimate of 275.9 billion won. * Pearl Abyss lowered Red Desert annual revenue guidance to 468.9-497.3 billion won from 644.1-734.8 billion won. Pearl Abyss closed at 31,250 won on May 14, declining 5,650 won (15.31%) over three trading days following its Q2 earnings announcement on May 11. The Korean game developer reported Q2 revenue of 192.6 billion won and operating profit of 67.6 billion won, missing consensus estimates of 275.9 billion won and 140.2 billion won respectively. The company simultaneously lowered its annual revenue guidance for Red Desert from 644.1-734.8 billion won to 468.9-497.3 billion won, three months after the initial forecast. Pearl Abyss cited changes in revenue recognition timing, increased refund provisions, and offline package sales accounting as reasons for the downward revision. Pearl Abyss reports Q2 earnings below consensus. Pearl Abyss reported consolidated Q2 revenue of 192.6 billion won and operating profit of 67.6 billion won, representing year-over-year increases of 247.8% and 7,388.9% respectively. These figures fell significantly short of consensus expectations of 275.9 billion won in revenue and 140.2 billion won in operating profit, according to FnGuide data. The company's quarterly labor costs reached 74.8 billion won, up 158.8% year-over-year. This increase included performance bonuses related to the Red Desert launch on March 20. Pearl Abyss lowers Red Desert revenue guidance. Pearl Abyss reduced its annual revenue forecast for Red Desert to 468.9-497.3 billion won from the previous range of 644.1-734.8 billion won announced during its Q1 earnings. The company attributed the revision to three factors: increased sales through channels that recognize only a portion of sales as revenue, leading to lower average selling price estimates; timing differences in revenue recognition for physical package sales; and deferred revenue effects related to refunds and warranties. The company's year-to-date stock return stands at -16.44%, underperforming the KRX Game TOP10 index, which gained 1.11% over the same period. Following the Q2 announcement, domestic securities firms issued one buy rating, two neutral ratings, and one sell rating on Pearl Abyss stocks. Analysts express concerns over new title pipeline. Im Hee-seok, researcher at Mirae Asset Securities, stated that the company faces "an inevitable additional de-rating as it enters a prolonged period without new releases." Im noted that the next title "Dokkaebi" would launch in the second half of 2028 at the earliest, assuming no delays, while another new title "Plan 8" is being developed with a 2-3 year release interval in mind. Oh Dong-hwan, researcher at Samsung Securities, stated that "while the company plans early DLC releases and new console platform launches for Red Desert, the revenue rebound is not expected to be significant given that Steam concurrent users have declined to the 10,000 range." Oh added that "to resolve the discount, the company needs to build a new title development system that can accumulate revenue growth and secure earnings stability." Faq. Why did Pearl Abyss stocks decline after Q2 earnings? Pearl Abyss stocks fell 15.31% over three trading days because Q2 revenue of 192.6 billion won and operating profit of 67.6 billion won missed consensus estimates of 275.9 billion won and 140.2 billion won respectively. The company also lowered its annual Red Desert revenue guidance from 644.1-734.8 billion won to 468.9-497.3 billion won. What reasons did Pearl Abyss provide for lowering Red Desert revenue guidance? Pearl Abyss cited three factors: increased sales through channels that recognize only a portion of sales as revenue, timing differences in revenue recognition for physical package sales, and deferred revenue effects related to refunds and warranties. When is Pearl Abyss expected to release its next major title? According to Mirae Asset Securities researcher Im Hee-seok, the next title "Dokkaebi" would launch in the second half of 2028 at the earliest, assuming no delays. Another title "Plan 8" is being developed with a 2-3 year release interval. Disclaimer: The information on this page may come from third-party sources and is for reference only. Black Desert releases Edania Part 2, expanding the world with new endgame challenges.

Black Desert releases Edania Part 2, expanding the world with new endgame challenges. 'Edania Part 2' keeps the new endgame challenges coming. August 13, 2026 [This unedited press release is made available courtesy of Game Developer and its partnership with notable game PR-related resource Games Press] Pearl Abyss: Amsterdam, The Netherlands - August 13, 2026 - Pearl Abyss has released Edania: Part 2 for Black Desert, opening the long-awaited "Inner" region of Edania and introducing new endgame challenges, bosses, monster zones, and gear. First introduced in August 2025, Edania is a demonic realm divided into an "Outer" region ruled by demon lords who have inherited the power of the gods and an "Inner" region where the gods themselves exert their influence. With today's update, Adventurers can venture deeper into Edania and confront Agris, Markthanan, Elion, and Aal, four powerful beings that have long played a role in Black Desert's lore. Six New Monster Zones Await in Edania Edania: Part 2 introduces six new monster zones designed for high-level Adventurers, each offering unique encounters, mechanics, and rewards: * Agris' domain - Aphrodon Temple * Markthanan's Domain - Hermesia Inner Castle * Elion's domain - Magaia Temple * Aal's domain - Aresion Temple * Elion's Domain - Scales of Judgment (3-Player Party Zone) * Hadum's Domain - Event Horizon The recommended stats rise progressively across the new areas, with Event Horizon requiring 420 AP and 505 DP, making it the most demanding of the newly added monster zones. Meanwhile, Scales of Judgment stands apart as a dedicated three-player party monster zone, where Adventurers must work together to maintain the balance between opposing forces. Four New Bosses and the Battle for the Throne of Edana Edania's Inner region introduces four new bosses: Aphrodon (Agris), Hermesia (Markthanan), Magaia (Elion) and Aresion (Aal). Each boss has its own minimum AP and DP requirements, ranging from 405/485 to 420/505. Adventurers can take on one Edania boss per week through a dedicated weekly quest. Completing the challenge rewards an Edana Rising Token, which can be used to enter the Throne of Edana. The Throne of Edana pits Adventurers against one another for control of each region. The current Edana must defend their position against challengers, with the last Adventurer standing becoming the new Edana and earning exclusive privileges and rewards. New Accessories: Ekleta and Apeiron Two new accessories have been added to expand endgame progression. While both ultimately share the same maximum stats, they offer different progression paths. Ekleta can be obtained by converting high-grade Kharazad accessories and can be enhanced using materials specific to each accessory slot. Apeiron, meanwhile, can be obtained directly as loot from the new monster zones and can also be traded through the Central Market. This gives Adventurers two distinct approaches to pursuing the new accessories, whether they prefer upgrading existing equipment or acquiring and developing new accessories through gameplay and the in-game economy. New Outfit "Godslayer's Armor" and Crystals The update also introduces a new outfit, Godslayer's Armor, which can be crafted by collecting Embers of Ynix from the Edania's Inner region. The new outfit is imbued with Ynix's power and can be obtained through a quest at the Ancient Foresight near the Radiant Lands. Additional progression items include the new Wandering Origin Crystal, which can be crafted using materials obtained within the Inner region, as well as new artifacts and consumables. Discover the Tachyon Legacy Adventurers exploring the new region may also encounter the Tachyon Legacy hidden throughout the area. Discovering the legacy leads to a special trial, and those who successfully complete it can obtain Agris Gold Coins. The coins can be accumulated and exchanged for valuable rewards, including Cron Stones, Nev's Fragment, Advice of Valks (+250), and Twilight of the End. The update focuses on opening Edania's Inner region and introducing its new gameplay content, while the next chapter of Edania's story is planned for a future update. In September, Pearl Abyss plans to introduce Hadum as the next major threat alongside a new main questline, continuing the overarching story of Black Desert. Crimson Desert getting a Switch 2 release, and Pearl Abyss sees "significant potential" for multiplayer, with "live service operation models" mentioned.

Crimson Desert getting a Switch 2 release, and Pearl Abyss sees "significant potential" for multiplayer, with "live service operation models" mentioned. "We are currently conducting extensive research." Published on Aug 12, 2026, 7:20 AM PDT Crimson Desert developer Pearl Abyss has confirmed a Switch 2 version of the game will be released, and given a rough timeframe for it, and said it sees "significant potential" for multiplayer in the single-player open-world fantasy game. Pearl Abyss's comments came in an Earnings Letter discussing its Q2 2026 financial results (via Resetera). These noted a further 2.11 million sales of the game - Crimson Desert had sold 5 million copies in June - and laid out plans for the future. The first matter for the future regards a release on Switch 2, which Eurogamer'd been told earlier this year was being investigated. "We are striving to make Crimson Desert available across as many platforms as possible," the company said in a Q&A section of its letter, though it has no "immediate plans" for a mobile port. "However, platform expansion is not merely a straightforward port; the key requirement is ensuring that the game's graphics, combat action, and seamless open-world experience are fully preserved on each target device," the company said. "In the case of Switch 2, while optimisation is required, the game is currently playable at a foundational level, and technical evaluations are underway to ensure performance optimisation and compliance with our quality standards. While it is difficult to confirm a definitive launch schedule at this time, we are working toward a release targeted for the first half of 2027." "Given Crimson Desert's dynamic action combat and expansive open-world structure, there is significant potential for expansion into multiplayer modes" -Pearl Abyss The second matter involves "multiplayer expansion plans", alongside which the company mentioned "live service operation models" and said needed "extensive research". "Given Crimson Desert's dynamic action combat and expansive open-world structure, there is significant potential for expansion into multiplayer modes," Pearl Abyss remarked. "However, integrating multiplayer functionality is far more complex than simply adding a new game mode; it represents a major technical initiative that requires comprehensive evaluation of server architecture, game balance, cross-platform stability, and live service operation models. "Accordingly, we are currently conducting extensive research from both technical and gameplay perspectives. Our overarching goal is to extend how users engage with the Crimson Desert IP over the long term, and we will share further details through our official channels as our plans materialise." Pearl Abyss also outlined plans for Crimson Desert to grow into a franchise, with the game serving as a "core flagship IP" for the company. "Accordingly, while we remain open to various possibilities - including add-on content, platform expansion, and sequel titles - our immediate development priority is centered on Crimson Desert DLCs and our next pipeline," the company said. The first of those DLCs is currently in development, "with the goal of delivering a new gameplay experience", Eurogamer is told, and it's targeting a release within this year. Further details are expected during this current financial quarter. "Please note," the company added, "that plans regarding the total number of DLCs and their release cadence have not yet been finalised, as our primary focus is on ensuring the quality and successful execution of the first DLC." Broadly, Pearl Abyss said it sees "substantial potential" to expand Crimson Desert and its world, characters and regions, and will "extend its product lifecycle through a steady stream of content updates". Indeed, the game had enjoyed a string of sizable updates since the game was released in March, addressing a long list of issues affecting the game but also adding new pets, mini-games, and skills. The company even pledged to alter the story. A new trailer charted the many changes that have come to the game. Crimson Desert is an open-world fantasy role-playing game so large it more closely resembles an MMO than a single-player game - MMOs being what Pearl Abyss had been used to making before it. Eurogamer found it visually impressive and vast in its Crimson Desert review, but asked: "What good is it without much character, texture or charm?" Love Eurogamer.net? Crimson Desert's first paid expansion could arrive this year, with sequels also planned. Pearl Abyss is already developing Crimson Desert's first DLC while considering new platforms and future entries for the franchise. Crimson Desert had a divisive launch, but it has delivered strong commercial results. Pearl Abyss says the game has now sold more than six million copies, while the development team has continued refining the experience through patches and regular updates. Discover more Gaming Reference & Reviews Computer & Video Games Roleplaying Games The studio has confirmed that the first paid expansion is already in development and is expected to arrive this year. More information about the DLC's structure, price and release date should be revealed during the third quarter, making Gamescom 2026 a possible venue for its presentation. Its longer-term plans also include expansion to additional platforms and potential sequels, indicating that Crimson Desert is no longer being treated as a one-off project. Multiplayer possibilities are also being considered, although their implementation would create significant technical challenges. The immediate priority therefore remains the DLC and the studio's other projects, including DokeV. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is already playable and currently targets the first half of 2027. Optimisation and platform requirements are still being addressed, while support for the existing PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions continues. Nintendo
