Bytes Technology Group expects flat operating profit in FY 2027 despite $212M gross profit as it absorbs $5.7M in costs

Bytes Technology Group reported FY 2026 results in line with guidance, delivering double-digit invoiced income growth, gross profit of around £167 million and operating profit of approximately £62 million. Cash conversion exceeded 100%, ending the year with over £98 million after returning £74 million to shareholders. For FY 2027, management expects gross profit to recover to high single-digit to low double-digit growth, but operating profit to remain broadly flat as the company absorbs approximately £4.5 million in costs from completed technology projects, normalised bonuses and headcount investment. The company is realigning its go-to-market approach, with Bytes Software Services focusing on the private sector and Phoenix on the public sector. Management highlighted AI as a growing revenue stream and internal efficiency tool, whilst describing its Microsoft relationship as stable.

Yorkshire software group scores £75m MoD contract

Yorkshire software group scores £75m MoD contract. Phoenix Software's agreement with the department will run for three years. York-based tech firm Phoenix Software has secured a £75m contract with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to provide visibility and control over the department's software spending. The three-year deal, called the Value Added Software Agreement (VOSA), is designed to "centralise and optimise the procurement of commercial off-the-shelf software across the MoD". Phoenix Software said through the deal VOSA will become the primary route for all software tail spend across the department, providing transparency and efficiency to procurement processes. "We are delighted to support the Ministry of Defence in this critical transformation," said Keith Martin, sales director at Phoenix Software. "VOSA is not just a contract, it's a platform for innovation, transparency, and long-term value for the UK's defence community. It will provide the MoD with a much simpler route-to-market for software purchases, while providing greater transparency and optimisation of its software spend."
