REEF

REEF

Operates mobility, logistics hubs, and kitchens

Overview

Company Does Not Provide H1B Sponsorship

REEF converts underused urban spaces into neighborhood hubs that host mobility services, logistics hubs, and turnkey kitchens and retail experiences. Its network spans over 4,500 locations in the US, Canada, and Europe, providing food preparation, delivery, and fulfillment for local restaurants and national brands through proprietary technology that optimizes parking and real estate assets. By turning parking lots and vacant properties into active community spaces, REEF creates seamless experiences for customers, residents, and partners while increasing asset value. The goal is to repurpose urban space into accessible, community-centered hubs that support local commerce and logistics at scale.

Today, KAIKAKU is joining REEF. We are bringing together two companies obsessed with the same seemingly impossible idea: that the food system, one of the oldest systems humans have built, can be rebuilt from the ground up with robotics and AI. And that doing so can make food more abundant, more reliable and more human, all at once. We engineered the autonomy. REEF built the platform and scale to deploy it, having raised more than $1.5 billion in venture capital from investors including SoftBank and Mubadala. When Ivan and myself started in 2023, we made a deliberate choice to begin with the hardest version of the problem. Real customers, real revenue and real daily problems instead of a polished demo. We opened Common Room, which became one of London’s highest-rated bowl restaurants. We built five generations of Fusion, our food-assembly robot. The latest one could make up to 360 bowls an hour from a footprint the size of a small café and tested both in our own restaurant but also large multi-site chains. We raised a $4 million unannounced seed round in an industry that, frankly, most investors had written off as unsexy. We built one of the most formidable hardware engineering cultures and an incredible team who've been through it all. None of this would have happened without the customers who trusted us, the investors who backed an unfashionable idea, and most importantly, our team. We're not here to merely to build an impressive robot. We're here to prove that the technology was ready, the unit economics worked and the only thing left was scale. REEF is that scale. More soon. | 187 comments on LinkedIn

Restaurants Partner With Kroger And Other Grocers To Boost Off-Premise Sales

This week in restaurants, eateries expand to grocery stores, add ghost kitchens and face regulations. Throughout the last couple of years, restaurants have been seizing on the opportunity to attract new customers in highly trafficked areas by teaming up with grocers to offer in-store locations. Most recently, Southern California boba tea chain Percolate partnered with specialty grocer Sprouts Farmers Market, which has 380 stores in 23 states, to open an in-store tea spot in Los in early February, Progressive Grocer reported
