USTA Ventures backs Rec's AI sports platform connecting players with courts and coaches

USTA Ventures, the investment arm of the US Tennis Association, has made its fifth investment since 2023 in Rec, an AI-powered platform connecting users with local parks and recreation facilities for court rentals, lessons, and sports programmes. Financial terms were not disclosed. Rec, founded in 2022 by former Uber employees Birju Kadakia and Rachel Williams, now operates in over 30 states with approximately 40 employees. The platform has raised more than $20 million, including an $11 million Series A in 2025 led by Crosslink Capital. The company generates revenue through software licensing to facility operators—90% of which are public organisations—plus transaction fees. Its AI technology assists consumers in finding suitable activities and helps recreation operators manage bookings, cancellations, and permits across multiple sports.
