The Robotics and AI Institute conducts collaborative research in artificial intelligence and robotics with academic, corporate, and government partners, focusing on cognitive AI, athletic AI, organic hardware design, and robotics ethics. It develops new AI models and robotic systems through research and applied development, then licenses technologies or partners to deploy them via grants and collaborations. Led by Marc Raibert and rooted in hands-on robotics expertise, it blends academic rigor with industry partnerships to move ideas from lab to practice. Its goal is to raise productivity, improve safety, assist people with disabilities, and enhance overall quality of life through advancing AI and robotics.
