Roland Berger joins the elite €1 billion global strategy consulting club. 08 June 2026 Consultancy.eu In the year before its 60th anniversary, Roland Berger has reached a major milestone, surpassing €1 billion in annual revenues and formally entering the consulting industry's billion-euro league. The group of consulting firms generating more than €1 billion in annual revenue is relatively small, dominated by the industry's generalists and technologists. Yet in the segment Roland Berger operates in - boardroom-level strategy and transformation work - the list is even more exclusive, consisting of only a handful of global players. Roland Berger now joins established rivals McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Company, Kearney, and Oliver Wyman, as well as Big Four subsidiaries Strategy&, EY-Parthenon and Monitor Deloitte. Notably, Roland Berger is the only firm in this club with true European origins. Founded in 1967 in Munich by its namesake Roland Berger, the firm emerged as one of Europe's first homegrown strategy consultancies at a time when the industry was dominated by American players. Initially, Roland Berger built its reputation around strategy, restructuring, performance improvement and transactions, mainly in industrial sectors such as automotive. Over time, the firm evolved into a broad-based strategy and transformation consultancy operating across sectors and functions. Today, Roland Berger employs more than 3,000 consultants working from over 50 offices worldwide, including a recently launched hub in Australia, which completed its footprint across six continents. Acceleration in 2025. The milestone in 2025 was driven by a strong performance, during which Roland Berger significantly outpaced market growth. In Germany, its largest and home market, the firm grew by around 5%, while in the Americas and Asia it achieved double-digit growth of 11% and 19% respectively. European growth was further supported by the acquisition of Poland-based ALEXEC Consulting. The firm has also strengthened its presence in the Middle East in recent years, including through several leadership investments in 2025 to support its regional expansion. Stefan Schaible, Global Managing Partner at Roland Berger, said the firm is particularly proud to have achieved this growth and crossed the €1 billion milestone at a time of significant change in the consulting industry. "2025 was the most successful year in our firm's history. At the same time, we see the market changing noticeably. Trust and independence have become real differentiators in consulting," he said. European roots. Six months into 2026, the global environment has shifted, shaped by geopolitical tensions, including the conflict in the Middle East. At the same time, Europe is increasingly focused on competitiveness, energy security, and maintaining its under-pressure position against US and Chinese economic dominance. According to Schaible, Roland Berger's European roots and strong presence in key regional markets provide a distinct advantage for clients seeking an alternative to US-dominated strategy firms. "As the only global strategy consultancy with European roots, this is a clear competitive advantage for us," he said. Outlook.
