New data reveals dramatic AI market share shifts in 2025, with rapid changes in how businesses and consumers utilize artificial intelligence tools. Poe, a platform hosting over 100 AI models, released a comprehensive report today that provides an unprecedented look into real-world usage patterns across text, image, and video generation technologies.Poe’s analysis, based on interactions from millions of users over the past year, offers technical decision-makers crucial insights into a competitive field where usage data is typically closely guarded. “As AI models continue to progress, we believe they will become central to how people acquire knowledge, tackle complex tasks, and manage everyday work,” the company states in its report. The findings highlight significant market fragmentation across all AI modalities. While established players like OpenAI and Anthropic maintain dominant positions in text generation, newer entrants such as DeepSeek in text and Black Forest Labs in image generation have quickly captured meaningful market share, suggesting a dynamic ecosystem despite massive investments flowing toward industry leaders. Here are the five most surprising takeaways from Poe’s analysis of the early 2025 AI ecosystem:A chart tracking AI model usage on Poe during 2024-2025 shows OpenAI’s GPT-4o and Anthropic’s Claude models dominating the text generation market, while newcomers like DeepSeek have begun to capture meaningful market share
Decrypt’s Art, Fashion, and Entertainment Hub. Discover SCENE"Happy 2025. I lost my freelance writing job to AI,” YouTuber Alex Wei titled a video that went viral on New Year's Day. In the video, he details how a client dumped him in favor of using an AI chatbot to crank out blog posts.“How can I compete with that?” he asked. For Wei and millions like him, the path to staying competitive is not at all clear—even for people who know how to use AI to avoid being replaced by AI. And for those who do manage to use AI to stay ahead of the career wrecking ball, it’s getting increasingly costly and difficult to hold onto jobs, especially in the developing world.OpenAI's latest "pro" tier subscription costs $200 per month. RunwayML (a leading video generator) charges $95 monthly for its premium features, while the best Midjourney (an AI image generator) tier runs at $120 per month

The AI media tech provider Runway has announced the release of Frames, its newest text-to-image generation model, and it’s winning early praise from users for producing highly cinematic visuals — a fitting compliment given Runway is known primarily as an AI video model provider. Could Frames dethrone Midjourney as the go-to choice for AI filmmakers and artists?Announced back in November 2024, Frames was initially made available to selected Runway Creators Program ambassadors and power users over the last few weeks. As of today, it’s available to all through Runway’s Unlimited and Enterprise subscription plans, which cost $95 per month/$912 when paid annually or, in the case of the Enterprise plan, $1,500 annually. The company has also posted a showcase of new images generated by users of Frames on its website here, under the name “Worlds of Frames.”Users can generate still images with it on Runway’s website at app.runwayml.com — if they have subscribed to the appropriate plan — and then with one click, use the images as the basis for movies made with Runway’s image-to-video models such as Gen-3 Alpha Turbo. According to Runway, Frames provides an advanced level of stylistic control and visual fidelity, making it a versatile tool for industries like editorial, art direction, pre-visualization, brand development, and production. As Cristóbal Valenzuela, Runway’s cofounder and CEO, wrote on a post on the social network X: “Frames has been engineered from the ground up for professional creative work
