Sherwin-Williams ends paint manufacturing in Jamaica and shifts to distribution model. Sherwin-Williams has ceased production at its White Marl facility in St. Catherine, Jamaica, transitioning the local operation to a distribution-only model. Products previously manufactured on-site will be imported through the company's existing supply chain. 13 August 2026 Sherwin-Williams has ended paint manufacturing at its White Marl facility in St. Catherine, Jamaica, with 31 July marking the final day of production at the site. The products previously made at the facility will now be manufactured at other Sherwin-Williams locations and imported into Jamaica via the company's existing supply chain. The specific facilities that will take over production have not been identified. According to reports, the White Marl operation had produced architectural, automotive, and industrial finishes, including products in the "Kem" line. The distribution centre at the site will remain operational, while decommissioning of the manufacturing portion is expected to continue into 2027. Operations and employment in Jamaica to continue Sherwin-Williams stated that distribution will be maintained from St. Catherine and Montego Bay, and the company's 24 company-owned retail stores across Jamaica will remain open. The company said it does not expect the transition to disrupt product supply. Regarding staffing, the company indicated that 21 employees entered consultations related to the closure. Of these, seven were transferred to other positions and 14 were separated. Sherwin-Williams stated it will continue to employ approximately 180 people in Jamaica. Strategic review cited as reason for closure The company said the decision followed a review of its operations and long-term strategy, and was not related to the performance of the St. Catherine plant or its employees. Sherwin-Williams' 2025 annual report filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission had listed one Consumer Brands Group manufacturing facility and one distribution facility in Jamaica, alongside paint stores operated as part of its Caribbean network.
This is how much DEP fined Sherwin-Williams for air quality violations at Rochester Plant. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) this week announced it entered into a Consent Order and Agreement with The Sherwin-Williams Manufacturing Company to resolve air quality violations at its Rochester Plant in Beaver County. According to a press release issued Tuesday, Sherwin-Williams will pay a total $124,700 civil penalty within 30 days of receiving the fully executed consent order. The air quality violations first came to light thanks to investigative reporting by KDKA's Meghan Schiller after neighbors sounded the alarm over what they described as persistent chemical smell. The consent order addresses violations related to: * Failure to install and operate air cleaning devices in a timely manner * Air contaminant source construction/installation without proper plan approval * Missed required startup notifications * Failure to perform required monitoring and recordkeeping under permit and plan approval conditions * Issues tied to required control equipment startup timelines and stack testing In addition to the $124,700 civil penalty, the agreement establishes stipulated penalties for future violations. For example, Sherwin-Williams will be fined $1,000 per day per violation for failing to meet any of the agreement deadlines, including those associated with the installation and operation of a Thermal Oxidizer and South Tank Truck Area Carbon Adsorber. The agreement remains in effect until DEP determines Sherwin-Williams has completed all required corrective actions and paid all required penalties. Sherwin-Williams launches ControlTech for growing chemical containment demands. Sherwin-Williams' advanced coating systems provide robust protection for secondary containment areas: keeping assets, people, the environment, and compliance safe. August 7, 2026 Editor, Coatings World As regulatory expectations around secondary containment in chemical storage continue to evolve, Sherwin Williams Protective and Marine Coatings has launched a new range of systems designed to provide comprehensive, compliant protection, tailored to a versatile set of applications. The ControlTech range of chemical-resistant coating systems protect concrete containment areas and the surrounding environment from hazardous chemicals, fuels, and oils when tanks or pipes fail. It comes at a time of increasing international focus on protecting water sources and soil from industrial processes. CIRIA C736, in the UK, and Germany's Water Resources Act (WHA), for example, both highlight the importance of effective secondary containment design. While regulations and guidance differ between markets, the underlying principle is the same: facilities handling chemicals must have appropriate systems to contain potential releases and minimise environmental impact in place. ControlTech Systems have been developed to support these requirements. They provide a structured range of chemically resistant flooring and containment solutions for industrial environments where accidental spills, leaks or splashes could pose a risk to infrastructure, workers and the environment. What is secondary containment? Secondary containment is a backup barrier designed to capture chemical spills or leaks from primary storage, preventing them from penetrating into the substrate or reaching the environment if a tank, pipe or storage vessel fails. Typically, it consists of a sealed, chemical-resistant barrier applied to the areas hazardous substances are stored, handled or transferred, such as concrete floors, bunds, tank bases and loading areas. Such systems protect people, infrastructure and watercourses, while helping organisations to reduce the risk of environmental damage, regulatory penalties, and costly clean-up operations, as well as reputational harm. What is ControlTech? ControlTech is a range of specialist coating technologies designed to withstand specific chemical exposures. It has been developed around recognised containment principles, including the need to consider worst-case spill scenarios, and features nine separate systems across three chemical resistance profiles: * Epoxy-based systems, for durable protection for concrete in standard containment areas with moderate chemical exposure, such as manufacturing floors, storage areas and bunds; * Novolac epoxy systems with enhanced chemical resistance for more aggressive environments, including chemical processing areas and containment zones exposed to corrosive substances; * Vinyl ester systems provide advanced protection for the most demanding applications involving highly aggressive chemicals or severe exposure conditions. Different system build-ups are available within each profile, depending on chemical resistance requirements, mechanical demands and operating conditions, enabling developers and operators to tailor the specification to their application. Michael Harrison, Global Product Director - Linings, said: "Secondary containment is a critical safeguard for any facility handling hazardous chemicals. A spill or leak from a storage vessel can have serious consequences for the environment, site operations and business reputation. By providing a robust barrier between chemicals and the surrounding environment, secondary containment systems help organisations protect their assets, support regulatory responsibilities and minimise the risks associated with accidental releases. "The ControlTech range of systems brings our established coating technologies into a clearly defined range, helping customers identify the right solution for the chemicals, operating conditions and risks at their facilities."
Sherwin-Williams reports 7.5 % net sales growth in Q2 2026. The coatings manufacturer has published its financial results for the second quarter of 2026, reporting consolidated net sales of USD 6.79 billion and a net income increase of 11.8 % year on year, with growth recorded across all three business segments. 4 August 2026 Sherwin-Williams has reported its financial results for the second quarter ended 30 June 2026. Consolidated net sales rose 7.5 % to USD 6.79 billion, with net income reaching USD 843.6 million, or 12.4 % of net sales. EBITDA increased 13.8 % to USD 1.43 billion, representing 21.1 % of net sales. The sales increase was attributed to higher net sales across all three reportable segments, including a contribution from the October 2025 acquisition of Suvinil, and was partially offset by rising raw material costs and higher employee-related expenses. Segment results and pricing actions The Paint Stores Group reported net sales up 5.1 % to USD 3.89 billion, with same-store sales growth of 4.2 % and a double-digit percentage increase in protective and marine coatings. The Consumer Brands Group saw net sales grow 21.5 % to USD 983.5 million, supported by the Suvinil acquisition and favourable currency effects. The Performance Coatings Group posted a 6.3 % net sales increase to USD 1.91 billion, with General Industrial and Automotive Refinish each recording high-single digit percentage growth. In response to broad-based cost inflation, the company announced an 8 % price increase in the Paint Stores Group effective 1 September 2026. For the full year 2026, Sherwin-Williams raised its guidance, projecting consolidated net sales up a mid to high-single digit percentage and adjusted diluted net income per share in the range of USD 11.80 to USD 12.20.
Sherwin-Williams unveils 2027 Rewild paint collection with 48 handpicked hues. Published on 1 August 2026 at 8:06 pm - Written by Chris Martin - Reading duration: 3 minutes Sherwin-Williams unveiled its 2027 Colormix Trend Forecast, a collection called Rewild, featuring 48 handpicked hues curated by the paint brand's Trendsight Team to shape home interiors in the year ahead. The palette spans moody oxbloods and mossy greens to chalky whites, sun-baked clays, and rich jewel tones, all designed to be mixed, layered, and interpreted freely rather than following preset combinations. The 48 colors are organized into three distinct design stories - Revive, Reignite, and Reconnect - each reflecting a different emotional direction and design philosophy. Revive celebrates heritage and craftsmanship, drawing on history and artisan-made furnishings in rooms that accumulate character over time. Emily Kantz, an interior designer and color strategist on the Sherwin-Williams Colormix Trendsight Team, explained that this direction resonates particularly with younger homeowners seeking design "that has a story to it, that has a history to it, that has a presence," as a counterbalance to the constant digital updates of modern life. Reignite takes a bolder approach, embracing expressive colors, tactile contrast, and what the team calls "constructive chaos" - rooms that mix unexpected colors and finishes in an intentional way. Rather than treating color as a finishing touch, this story positions it as the emotional engine of a room. Kantz noted that "people are really leaning into color" and want something that shows their personality and authentic self. Interior designer Kathy Kuo, founder and CEO of Kathy Kuo Home, observed that "color has transitioned from accent to true identity," with clients seeking greater tonal depth in deep greens, oxblood reds, and warm bronze after years of playing it safe for resale appeal. Reconnect reads the palette through an elemental lens, focusing on mineral and earth-derived tones including Eminent Bronze, Universal Khaki, and Perfect Greige. These are not pale, noncommittal nature neutrals but shades with grit, depth, and a weathered quality - more soil, stone, lichen, and woodsmoke than generic beige. Kantz highlighted Eminent Bronze as a color she's "seeing everywhere, just popping up in doses," noting its mossy-green quality. The forecast stems from research across Sherwin-Williams' industrial wood, coatings, and residential design divisions. Contributors track trends across furniture, flooring, automotive, and aerospace finishes, with some team members looking five to 10 years ahead. When the Trendsight Team convenes, they compare colors and cultural shifts tracked across disciplines and regions, looking for ideas that recur across multiple markets. Of the 48 hues, 10 are designated as "Continuity Colors" - shades the brand sees as having particular longevity across rooms, styles, and applications. These include Cordovan (a rich wine red), Clove (a charcoal-brown), Roycroft Bronze Green, and Forged Steel (a blue-leaning charcoal), among others. Kuo emphasized that the shift toward personal, layered color choices doesn't require every room to share one matching scheme. "Let each room have its own emotional register," she said, "moodier in a library, brighter in a kitchen, quieter in a bedroom, as long as there's a thread connecting them." Sherwin-Williams will select its 2027 Color of the Year from the Rewild collection later in the year. All 48 hues are available at Sherwin-Williams stores nationwide and online, with sample options including peel-and-stick sheets, Color To Go paint samples, and free color chips for designers, homeowners, and professionals.
