Siemens Healthineers has launched capillary blood testing on its Atellica CH, IM, and CI Analysers after receiving CE-mark approval for 24 assays. The capability enables clinical laboratories to perform common tests including metabolic panels, lipid panels, thyroid, Vitamin D, and HbA1c using finger prick or heel stick samples rather than standard blood draws. Capillary testing offers a patient-friendly alternative for individuals with difficult veins, low blood volume, needle phobia, or disabilities. The validated claims provide laboratories with confidence in test results whilst expanding testing capabilities using existing infrastructure. In the United States, Siemens Healthineers currently offers four assays with capillary claims and is pursuing additional approvals with the FDA. The company aims to make testing more accessible and efficient across core laboratory settings.
AiM Medical Robotics has signed an agreement with Siemens Healthineers to develop a software interface connecting AiM's MRI-compatible robotic neurosurgery platform with Siemens' MAGNETOM MRI scanners. The integration will apply to Siemens' 1.5T, 3T and 0.55T MRI systems. The interface is designed to enable real-time, in-bore neurosurgical procedures, supporting image-guided therapies for neurostimulator lead placement, tumour and epilepsy ablation, biopsies and therapeutic delivery. AiM founder and CEO Gregory Fischer said the collaboration validates the company's technology and expands the ecosystem for precision robotics in image-guided operating suites. AiM specialises in MRI-compatible robotic platforms for neurosurgery. In May 2024, the company partnered with Brigham and Women's Hospital to validate its robot for deep-brain stimulation in Parkinson's disease patients.
Siemens Healthineers reported strong performance in its Imaging and Precision Therapy segments during Q2 2026, with Imaging growing 6.1% and achieving a 22.4% adjusted EBIT margin. Precision Therapy grew 4.7%, with margin expansion of around 150 basis points year-over-year. However, the Diagnostics segment declined 6% due to structural market rebasing in China. The company updated its fiscal 2026 revenue growth outlook to 4.5% to 5%, down from previous expectations, whilst maintaining adjusted EPS guidance between €2.20 and €2.30 despite supply chain inflation pressures. Siemens Healthineers reported 16% year-over-year adjusted EPS growth and strong free cash flow with a 0.81 conversion rate. The company is preparing for a strategic carve-out of its Diagnostics business and its upcoming spin-off from Siemens.
Siemens Healthineers has cut its revenue growth outlook for the 2026 financial year to 4.5–5.0%, down from 5–6%, as its diagnostics division struggles in China. The company also reduced its expected earnings per share range to €2.20–2.30 from €2.20–2.40. China, which accounts for 10% of revenue and is the company's second-largest market, saw diagnostics revenue decline 6.5% to €985 million year-on-year due to lower reimbursement rates and volume-based procurement. CEO Bernd Montag called it a "perfect storm" and said the company is considering spinning off the diagnostics division. Second-quarter adjusted earnings before interest and taxes fell 3.8% to €5.681 billion, missing analyst expectations. The company anticipates additional supply chain costs and more pronounced inflation ahead. Shares fell 3.3% following the announcement.
ScreenPoint Medical, a breast cancer detection AI company, has raised $16 million comprising $14 million from existing investors Insight Partners and Siemens Healthineers, plus $2 million in research grants. The company's Transpara Breast AI solutions are deployed in over 30 countries and have processed more than 12 million mammograms. The funding follows significant research milestones this year. A randomised controlled trial published in The Lancet showed Transpara improved cancer detection and reduced workload compared to standard double reading. Research in Nature Medicine demonstrated the technology could safely reduce screening workload by up to 63.6%. Additionally, ScreenPoint's risk algorithm outperformed competitors including Google and iCAD at five-year cancer risk prediction. The funds will support product development, international expansion and strategic initiatives across the breast cancer care continuum.
