Specialized Vado 3 gets a major power boost for Urban commuters.

Specialized Vado 3 gets a major power boost for Urban commuters. Specialized has updated its popular commuter e-bike lineup with the new Vado 3, and the biggest change is clear: more power, more range, and a more refined everyday riding experience. At the center of the update is a new motor system delivering up to 810W peak power and 105 Nm of torque - a significant jump over the previous generation. In real terms, that means faster acceleration, easier hill climbs, and a much smoother ride in city traffic. More power, same experience across models. One interesting detail is that Specialized isn't limiting performance to higher-end trims. Every Vado 3 model comes with the same motor and battery setup, meaning riders get the full experience without needing to upgrade to a more expensive version. That's a noticeable shift from how many e-bike lineups are structured. Built for real-world daily use. The Vado 3 is still clearly designed as a commuter-first bike. * Up to 840Wh battery capacity * Optional range extender for longer rides * Integrated lights, display, and phone connectivity * Rear rack support for cargo and daily use Depending on riding conditions, the bike can deliver several hours of real-world usage, making it a realistic replacement for short car trips. Two versions, different use cases. Specialized is also splitting the lineup slightly: * Vado 3: focused on city riding and efficiency * Vado 3 EVO: built for rougher roads and light off-road use The EVO version adds wider tires and more suspension, making it more versatile beyond pavement. Why this matters. The Vado 3 update shows where the e-bike market is heading. It's no longer just about adding electric assist. It's about building a complete transportation product - something that can realistically replace a car for daily trips. With more power, longer range, and better integration, bikes like the Vado 3 are moving closer to that goal. Final take. The new Vado 3 isn't just a spec upgrade. It's a clear step toward making e-bikes faster, more capable, and more practical for everyday life. And that's exactly where the market is going. Continue on evvalley. "The fastest gravel wheel family ever built": Roval launches Terra Aero CLX and Terra CLX III, claiming aero gains and sub-1,100g weight.

"The fastest gravel wheel family ever built": Roval launches Terra Aero CLX and Terra CLX III, claiming aero gains and sub-1,100g weight. Specialized-owned brand says Terra Aero CLX is its fastest gravel wheelset ever, while Terra CLX is its lightest and most compliant gravel option yet Thu, Mar 26, 2026 16:00 Roval has expanded its gravel lineup with two new high-end wheelsets, saying the new Terra Aero CLX is its fastest gravel option ever, with the Terra CLX III being "the lightest, most compliant gravel wheelset we've ever made", coming in at a claimed 1,079g. Roval says, "Both wheelsets are built directly from the Terra CLX II [introduced in 2023] heritage - its proven low-mass carbon layup, and real-world gravel racing pedigree - while pushing into new territory with aero shaping, composite spokes, overall wheel durability, and massive improvements in flat protection." Rather than being modified road wheels, Roval says they're purpose-built for the rougher surfaces, deeper yaw angles, and larger tyres associated with gravel. Let's take a look at them in turn. Terra Aero CLX: "aero above all" The Terra CLX II wheelset has been at the top of Roval's gravel range for the past three years, but the brand says that the new Terra Aero CLX - designed primarily for racing - is "up to 5.84 watts faster" at 40km/h (24.9mph) with a Specialized Tracer 45mm tyre fitted (of course, Roval is well aware that watts isn't a measurement of speed; it means that a lower power output is required to maintain that speed). The tubeless-compatible Terra Aero CLX rims use a truncated airfoil profile, 50mm deep at the front and 45mm at the rear. Roval says, "The first of its kind, its Chopped Aero Speed Shape tests like a 70mm front wheel, providing aero gains without weight penalties. "A heavily cambered leading edge increases effective depth without adding material weight; a rounded nose radius manages taller gravel tyre shoulders, reducing airflow separation behind the tread; a gradual, elongated trailing taper keeps flow attached longer at yaw - the key to gravel-speed aero gains; a wide cross-section matches the 40mm tyre profile, minimising the negative bulge effect." Roval argues that it makes sense to go for a deeper front wheel for maximum gains in aero efficiency. This is a strategy it already uses in its Rapide wheel range. With the launch of those wheels, Roval said, "Up to 90% of the aerodynamic benefit of deep wheels comes from the front wheel. Prioritising the front rim depth maximises drag reduction, while reducing rear depth saves weight and improves acceleration and climbing speed without significant aerodynamic loss." Off Road know of another major wheel brand that is following a similar strategy with yet-to-be-released models that Off Road'll be able to tell you about in the coming weeks. The Roval Terra Aero CLX front rim is 38.5mm at its widest point, while the rear is almost the same at 38.4mm. Each has a 27mm internal width. Roval says that width is especially important in gravel aerodynamics. With the Terra Aero CLX, the rim and tyre are designed to act as a single airfoil. "Flow off the tyre shoulder is caught and guided by the rim's larger leading radius, says Roval. "This produces dramatically lower pressure drag compared to road-rim geometries." Roval's FlatStop bead hooks are 5.38mm wide on the Terra Aero CLX, designed to reduce the possibility of pinch flats. Roval says that 91% more energy is required to flat compared with the previous Terra CLX II. The Terra Aero CLX wheels use narrow Roval Aero Composite spokes by Arris - already used in the Roval Rapide range - which reduce wheelset weight by 96.6g compared with steel spokes and "consistently outperformed rounded profiles by 0.5-0.3 watts across realistic yaw angles". The wheels have been designed around 45mm gravel tyres, although they're compatible with 35-60mm. The hubs use DT Swiss 180 EXP internals with a 36-tooth ratchet (10° engagement), and Roval quotes a wheelset weight of 1,340g with valves and tape. In terms of price, the Terra Aero CLX 700C front wheel is £1,299, with the rear wheel coming in at £1,699. Terra CLX III: the ultra-light one. If you're after a lower weight, Roval says that the Terra CLX III is the lightest gravel wheelset it has ever made, hitting the scales at a claimed 1,079g (with valves and tape). Roval says these wheels are the ideal choice for "climbers, technical descenders, and riders seeking the ultimate blend of low weight and off-road compliance". Speaking of compliance, Roval boasts that the Terra CLX III offers 21.52% more than its predecessor for control on challenging terrain. The Terra CLX III rims are 25.5mm deep with a 38mm external and 27mm internal width. The bead hooks are just a touch narrower than those of the Terra Aero CLX at 4.86mm, again being designed to offer flat resistance. Roval says that they will support 35-60mm tyres and are optimised for 40mm upwards. Like the Terra Aero CLX wheelset, the Terra CLX III uses composite Roval aero spokes by Arris and DT Swiss 180 EXP hub internals. The Roval Terra CLX II 700C front wheel is £1,149, and the rear is £1,599. Help Off Road to bring you the best cycling content. Specialized releases Alloy Levo R - shaves $2,000 off the price tag.

Specialized releases Alloy Levo R - shaves $2,000 off the price tag. Mar 24, 2026 Following closely behind the release of the carbon model, Specialized is launching an aluminum variant of the Levo R. This short travel eMTB aims squarely at the type of riding most people do most of the time: trails with an equal mix of climbing and descending, where handling can make more of a difference than travel. The R stands for rally, and though that might seem like a goofy comparison, the analogy starts to make sense once you swing a leg over this unique bike. Despite travel numbers that are more often associated with lightweight eMTBs, the Levo R features a full-power motor and an 840Wh battery. Levo R Alloy Details - 130mm travel, 140mm fork - Aluminum frame - 29" wheels - 65° head angle, 77° seat angle - Specialized 3.1 motor: 101 Nm torque, 810 watts peak output - 840 Wh battery - 6 sizes available - Pricing: $7,200 USD / €6,499.00 - Weight: 53.4 lb / 24.24 kg Featuring the 3.1 model of the Specialized motor, the Levo R is capable of putting out 101Nm of torque, and 810W of peak power. Plenty to get you up the hill at a blistering pace, with enough battery to do so quite a few times. The 840Wh battery comes standard, but there is a smaller 600Wh version that is compatible, as well as a 280Wh range extender that can be added on or run on its own. The Levo R Alloy features the newest firmware for the Levo system, gaining you access to plenty of mode controls, security features, and other bells and whistles. There's probably even a Tetris emulator in there if you look deep enough. Like the carbon version, this frame implements a shorter-stroke Genie shock to deliver 130mm of rear wheel travel, with a 140mm fork up front. The bike is compatible with a 150mm fork, if you so choose. The Levo R Alloy still employs the same flip chips at the lower shock mount and chainstay to allow for quite a bit of geometry adjustment, as well as the headset cup system that allows one to change the head angle by +/-1°. The resulting geometry is more stable than you might expect, but retains a liveliness that keeps the bike feeling reactive and accurate. As to how the roughly 6lb weight penalty of the Alloy model effects that, I can't say. width=text] Levo R Comp Alloy // $7,200 USD / €6,499 EUR / £5,499 GBP / $9,600 AUD. A New Chapter for American XC: Keegan Swenson Signs With Specialized

A new chapter for American XC: Keegan Swenson signs with Specialized. The American endurance standout aligns with one of the sport's most influential brands. Key points. * Keegan Swenson officially joins Specialized after dominating American endurance mountain biking. * The partnership highlights Specialized's commitment to evolving, top-tier off-road racing. * Swenson's move signals a significant shift in the American cross-country racing landscape. One of the most significant moves in North American cross-country racing this offseason is official: Keegan Swenson is headed to Specialized. After years of redefining what consistency and professionalism look like at the sharp end of endurance mountain biking, Swenson's signing marks a major alignment between one of the sport's most dependable performers and one of its most influential brands. It's a move that feels both inevitable and quietly seismic. Swenson has built his reputation the hard way - through results, not hype. Multiple Overall wins in the Life Time Grand Prix, dominant performances at events like Leadville and Big Sugar, and a near-constant presence on podiums have made him the benchmark for modern American XC racing. In a discipline often defined by chaos, Swenson's hallmark has been control: steady pacing, tactical patience, and the ability to show up strong, year after year. For Specialized, the signing reinforces a renewed commitment to top-tier off-road racing at a time when the discipline is evolving rapidly. With the lines between traditional cross-country, marathon racing, and gravel increasingly blurred, Swenson represents a rider uniquely capable of navigating that overlap and continually pushing the sport. He's as comfortable suffering for hours at altitude as he is making smart equipment and pacing decisions in high-pressure race scenarios - exactly the kind of rider modern race programs are built around. Equipment details haven't been fully revealed, but it's safe to assume Swenson will be aboard the latest iterations of Specialized's World Cup-proven platforms, supported by a deep performance infrastructure that few brands can match. More than bikes, though, this partnership feels like a long-term investment in leadership, credibility, and results. As endurance mountain biking continues to mature - and the stakes continue to rise - this move signals a new chapter not just for Swenson, but for the broader American XC scene. One of its most reliable talents just found a new home, and the ripple effects are likely to be felt all season long.
